We've had one wanker from the green side of the city, why not balance it up & have one from the blue side.Harsh to call Watt a wanker.Don't get the constant attacks he gets from our fanbase. It almost cringe-worthy at times. He clearly has to settling in issues and that shows wherever he has been and to be honest I think it comes down to his mental stability which the lad might not be able to help. But suppose yes, because he left us and didn't really kick off after the shit show we were when he was here..must be a wanker on that basis0 -

Chrispy51 said:Genuine question... Is Oztumer any better than Callum Harriott? could that be the delay in the (potential) signing.
Harriott has only really played in the Championship and has a pretty average scoring record. Oztumer has had 2 good years in league 1 following some good performances at non-league level. He didn't get much game time for a poor Bolton side in the Championship in his only year at that level. I don't know how Harriott got on at Reading, was his playing time limited due to ability or injury?
I'm not overly excited by either of them (at Championship level) but would probably favour Harriott based on experience at the level.
Far, far better. Poor Callum would trip over the ball, trip over his own feet - like a toddler in the back garden, stumbling over the plastic furniture. Has he improved, while at Reading? We all hope so.
Oztumer is a proper, experienced attacking midfielder. Buzzing around, digging in - and sending perfectly weighted balls to willing strikers. He also beat us at The Valley when he scored the winner for Walsall. Cleaving his own chance for a header - at five-feet-nothing - against our towering defenders.
My concern is with the typical Charlton tribe of little men. Now Abraham Odoh, and Junior Quitirna. We in the Covered End have watched a procession of lightweights such as Pritchard, Igor, Ajose and many others summarily bundled off the ball by opponents who are physically tougher.
Yet, like Jonny Williams, Erhun Oztumer has the intelligence to make space - and to make cutting passes that score goals. The renowned journalist Peter Cordwell said of Harriott: "He simply does not have a football brain".5 -
The way I see it is, Harriot has a lot of football ability but absolutely no football brain. To the extent that you would think he might make the right choices more often than he does through the law of averages, but it is almost as if he makes the wrong choice on purpose. He does have the odd game where everything aligns and his natural ability shines through, but these games are too few and far between.
Oztumer didn't pull up any trees last season. He did look quite useful in our narrow victory over Walsall at the Valley the season before last. We are talking League One though of course.
I must admit, I am more concerned how we are going to fill the holes left by Cullen and Bielik.5 -
Harriott clearly has pace and skill,if Bowyer can sort his decision making out he could be quite useful.1
-
I used to think it could be improved but fear it is too late for that now. I you stumble on one of his rare good games you might be forgiven for thinking there is a bit of a player there.0

McNulty would clearly rather be a big fish in a small pond. Not the sort of personality we would need in the dressing room this season.
We beat them to Lyle last summer. I know exactly which of the two I’d prefer. :-)4 - Sponsored links:

Weird that Morgan has played the most minutes given that he’s supposed to be going out on loan
(I hope Dazzler 21 does not see this. I have abused the quote functionality again.)
Doesn't help that autocorrected text if the first word is corrected drags your comment into the bloody quoted text these days... Seriously.0 -
Kyle lafferty has just been released by rangers0

Unless huge mitigating reasons (and i don't mean money) then any time a player chooses a club in a lower league above us then for me, they are not the character you wanted anyway. If we are fighting this season we want players who are keen to improve and progress in their careers.0

Parker was Gallen's choice. Despite playing most of his senior career as a midfielder, SG remembered him as a decent teenage striker at QPR. Interesting to see where Gills play him. He was certainly growing into the target man role after a slow start.7

Arsenal mate says no chance Bielek will stay. Is it fantasy to think he'll come back? Unlikely to do a better deal this season imo.0

I agree he was probably Gallens choice but who says McNulty wasn’t? Just saying we ended up Parker because we had little alternative and this season will be the same.1 -

Not good enough but we certainly needed him in that window as we had no other options.6 -

Proof it’s a done deal if you ask me.
