There is no evidence as to what wing University students in Canterbury occupy.
    Maybe it will emerge.
I imagine Canterbury will undergo change because of the congestion to come on local roads due to the problems 'leave' causes at the ports.
I was at the uni there in 2017 when it surprised everyone and a "miracle" happened in canturbury going red.

I can tell you the uni massively pushed voting labour. There were all sorts of speeches and campaigns. In particular a campaign to end the usual practice of voting at your home constituency and to vote as a block of students in Canterbury.
Clearly something has influenced it as the patch of Red in a sea of Blue across the SE sticks out like a sore thumb.

    Hello all. An interesting night.

Interesting to see that in the North especially, the Tories generally added to their vote share.

I did notice one exception, though. Barnsley Central. In this seat, BXP were by far the closest challenger to Labour, and the Tory candidate had actually lost vote share.

    That Tory candidate's name?

    Iftikhar Ahmed.

    Welcome to hell, my friends.

A sad reflection on the intellect of the British electorate and one of the saddest days in the modern history of this country.

I would say intellect has won here as Corbyn & Abbott have been banished to the wilderness.
What amazed me is that 39,972 people voted for Abbott and she won her seat by a landslide
It's not that amazing when you look at the demographic, I suspect the Black & Ethnic Minority sectors outnumber the White British sectors in those areas now so the vote will go that way. You could pick a number of areas that reflect the same, take a look at Bradford.
Muslim areas tend to vote as a block and Labour has been their party of choice traditionally.
    100% Len, exactly my point.
Except again there is no evidence on this.

The Brexit vote was not democratic GH. Leave cheated. No matter how many times you pretend they didn't, they did.

Still it'll happen now, so stop worrying.

But it would have been democratic had REMAIN won.
Leave cheated, no matter how many times you pretend they didn't.

If someone cheats in the 100m and comes last, the result would stand. If they come first, they are stripped of their title.

Wow. Exit poll suggest a massive Tory majority of 86.

    Ha ha ha ha

Glad you find it funny. You're alright Jack.
I'm laughing at all the remainers who campaigned, stalled & downright wanted to cancel Brexit. Dont fuck with democracy or it will come back & bite you the arse. If we had left as planned on 23rd March I'm pretty sure that The Conservatives wouldn't have got back into power......due to austerity & everything else.

As I said.....only yourselves to blame.
Financial adviser supporting Brexit, I feel for your clients.
Judging by the FTSE this morning they don't necessarily share your concerns
Let's just wait and see til we've actually left, then we can revisit how people's pensions are doing.

Anyone reckon Boris might actually appear on the Andrew Neil Show now ?

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • well, just got to hope that this Tory Government can reverse the damage that the previous Tory government did to this country.

what a suitable end to this decade.

    No I am not hurting.
To suggest I be allowed to vent is patronising.
I am searching for ways to fight back against the government mind you.
By mentioning the lack of solution to the Irish border I hope to continually highlight the destructive ignorance of brexiters and Tory voters, keep it out there so to speak.
Other ways to fight back are to go local.
I am in favour of the right of an individual to withdraw their labour, and hope strikes can be an option for people to take.
It looks bleak at the moment. The Tories have a massive majority, but there will emerge ways to resist.

Why would anyone who is not a complete Bellend appear on the "Oh look at me i am Andrew Neil show"?

Great swerve from our glorious leader!

    Luckily you now have a PM who can count. 50000 - 19000 = 50000...

    You are in safe hands.
  • Trouble is with the left is they still haven’t learned from the last few defeats.

Brexit, Trump and now this GE is a sign people fed up of the left carrying on with the ‘your racist’ argument Cos people have opposing political views, the sensationalism and faux outrage on the left about absolutely fucking everything pushes people to the alternative options, the hounding and the aggressive ‘debating/challenges’ with no let up and mob rule still continues amongst them.

They have not learned, they’re not as progressive as they think. And until they actual engage in proper debate and understand just Cos you have different political opinions doesn’t mean you want all the poor to die and the foreigners to hang then they will not be successful.

Everyone has their view, but the British people are not stupid. I have always said that with Corbyn as leader and McDonnell as shadow chancellor Labour were unelectable. This result proves it. Until Labour get their act together and move back to the centre they will continue to be.
I've moved on and I'm already looking forward to the £350m extra a week that the NHS will benefit from once Brexit is done.
Yes, it wasn't as if Labour had a credible plan for funding all their promises anyway.

Nip it in the bud before it contaminates the main forum.

The right have no interest in a proper debate on all areas, well the difficult ones anyway.
None will debate the Irish border for example.
Nearly 4000 people died in the modern Irish troubles.
Judging by the reaction to terrorist attacks very recently I would've thought the right would be up for the debate about the hard border they voted for.
But no, they mock as a diversion.

We do really need a more central party to come to the fore.

Someone that can understand the needs of all, not just the "wealthy" or the "poor".

Our Government needs to focus on all it's people, not just certain majorities.

ADMIN! Could someone please take a look at BBW's account as I think its been hacked.

The geezer is a spanner yet last night he was advising us on preparing Asian cuisine and is now taking the common sense approach about moving this thread.

Yes. Although I'd like to make the point now that labour seem to have very much lost the "poor". There has been a huge working class swing to the Tories and Labour becoming the party of the cities seems to suggest that the socialist views put forward haven't resonated with these groups and they are the party of Champagne Socialists

Fuck that Daz, I am 62 so lets just concentrate on the wealthy until I kick the bucket and then you can have your turn. In the meantime there is a food bank at the ground tonight. Grab yourself a bit of dinner for the weekend.  ;)
