The Outsider - Sky Atlantic, anyone watched? is it worth it?
I've watched the first 4. The first two episodes really hooked me in, then my concentration levels decreased and I've started watching something else. I will come back to it though.

  • Just finished watching The Stranger on Netflix.
Best thriller for years highly recommend this (8 episodes)

Also just finished ‘The Stranger’. The acting at times was pretty pants but some really interesting story lines with a couple of twists along the way. As far as British dramas go, the ending wasn’t too bad (although it’s all from a US book anyway) but I still felt a little short changed. Maybe my expectations are too high.

I gave that a go and whilst I like the actors in it the start put me off. I'll try again when I'm in more of a patient mood

Just started watching the Canadian drama, The Disappearance. 4 episodes into the 6 and it's very gripping, a story about a 10 year old boy who's kidnapped in a small town with a number of eerie clues left around a number of years after the fact.

I'm watching on firestick but I believe it's available in iplayer.
  • not new but catching up with Life in Pieces on Amazon Prime - enjoyable similar to Modern Family but not quite so good ...

Never seen it before but just watched the referee one and absolutely pissed myself.

    ‘Linesman Minnelli’.....Brilliant.
  • I thought Inside No 9 was good but actually nowhere near the best by their standards.

Yeah, an average no. 9, certainly not a top 10.

My favourite Number 9 was set in an hotel, can’t remember exactly what happened but it was excellent.
  • Just finished Deadwind on Netflicks.  Very well done and the gorgeous female lead looked like a Dutch girlfriend I had in the '80s.

Is that the one which was in shakespearean rhyming couplets? That was a good one.

My favourite was 12 days of Christine, it was certainly the most hard hitting. Sheridan Smith was great in it

Agree Sheridan Smith was very good in that one. I also remember an early one that had hardly any speaking, 2 burglars trying to steal a painting from a house. It was very clever

that was an absolute masterpiece of tv

don't think they've made a dud episode which is amazing considering each one is in a completely new setting with completely new characters
  • Enjoyed 'The Pharmacist' on Netflix. Put on the first episode and ended up watching them all.

It's only just occurred to me what (or rather who) the no. 9 was in last week's episode.

The Sheridan Smith episode is the truly great Inside No 9. Second best, for me, was Tom And Gerri, the one where Steve Pemberton's homeless character basically moves himself into Reece Shearsmith's home and takes over his life. The silent episode is third on my list, followed by the Samaritans episode.

There have been some really grim episodes, in terms of subject matter. Grimmest ending for me was The Devil At Christmas. I couldn't see the ending coming because the rest of the episode was shot like a low-rent episode of a Seventies TV horror series, starring Rula Lenska, with 'commentary' from the director, voiced by Derek Jacobi. Grim!

Gave "inside no. 9" a whole new meaning as well!
