  • I'm in but I'm not quite clear what I'm in for. The example of 23,000 Pompey fans raising £2.3m seems to me like a fraction of the amount needed to get this club back on its feet. I'm not trying to be negative, but I would like to know more about what the goal is.

I doubt if anyone has a clear single goal in mind at the moment!  There are too  many unknowns in the situation.  But I'm sure I am not alone in feeling that it would be good going forwards for the fans to have some sort of formal, legal say in Charlton Athletic and its future.

Personally, I would prefer that to be through something tangible and permanent, such as the freehold of The Valley, but since ownership of the club and its real estate have been separated by RD selling the club to ESI, I may need to adjust my sights.  After all, it would be a Pyrrhic victory for fans to have a stake in the Stadium only to find the owners of the club had run it down into oblivion, and lost us our membership in the League!

At the moment, survival of the club appears the more immediate threat - but who knows whether that will be the same in a week/ month/ year's time?  Until we do, I can understand why CAST are just testing the waters and doing the vital preliminary task of assembling a data base of potential supporters, should it be necessary for fans to launch a lifeboat in a hurry.  I'm confident CAST will give us more details if that happens.

2021 will mark 100 years since my great Uncle first watched a Charlton game. He took my dad to his first game in 2033
and my dad took me to my first game in 1960. My Aunt courted Charlton goalkeeper Sid Hobbins in 1938. I want my grandchildren to continue our family tradition. I haven’t hated anybody as much as Southall and Nimer ( although Ron Noades run them close ). I expect to use some of my spare time in the future haunting these slugs who are trying to ruin our club.

    IM IN.

    Should I have?
    It was unclear to me.

Sorry if that was unclear. It is helpful if, as a CAST member, you do sign up but it's not essential
Pico does this sign up involve travelling on coaches?

Yes. By signing up you entitle yourself to a compulsory trip to Fleetwood sitting next to Elfsborg

    Out.

Will the Trust be providing regular updates on the increasing numbers signing up?

Also, please could the confirm of existing Trust members need to sign up to this, or not?

Ha! My daughter's name is Dolores. I wanted it spelt with an e at the beginning because I'm a big BTTF fan.
