I don’t think he will. Lots of out of contract players due to covid, they will wait and get better somewhere

Salary cap means it the worst time for out of contract L1 players

No chance, he hates them the same as Millwall.

Hope his number 20 shirt is re-assigned to somebody when squad numbers are announced, even if we only had 18 players on the books.

@Ollywozere is Solly ever going to confirm that reason for not playing out the season?

I heard that he had a major falling out with Bowyer. Was due to go to Exeter to play for Matt Taylor. Not sure if offer is still on the table, given that they did not succeed in the play offs.

Would explain a few things, and he is very good friends with Matt Taylor. Were roomies together when we won League One.

Yes, we’re looking to sort something out very soon. Was due to do an interview of sorts today so we can start arranging his ‘goodbye’, but he had some family stuff to deal with so catching up tomorrow.

Fair play, cheers for the update.

Hope everything is going smoothly for you guys during this confusing drama!

Thanks @Ollywozere - but I have a feeling you might be busy with something else this week 😎
  • I really hope that Solly gives a reason which means his status at the club is unblemished by all of this but wonder what it could be and why he has taken so long to do this.

His length of service, graft and entirely committed performances on the pitch every time he has pulled on a Charlton shirt had made him a real club legend to me.

How you feeling about the future Olly, excited, hopeful or just be glad when you can just get on with the job you love?

For arguments sake - would solly have played in the last 9? Can’t see it myself therefor no damage done imo
would Taylor of played in the last 9 - 100% all 9 and probably scored which would of kept us up.

    There is a distinct difference.

Solly would have played against Cardiff of that Im certain... Bowyer mentioned post match that he had to play Lapslie there as Matthews' had a knock leaving Lee with no other right-backs

If he knew he wasn’t going to play then there’s not much reason to do what he did.

Matthews could have picked up a serious injury in the first game, leaving Solly as a key member of the squad for the remaining 8 games

And it's because he's been here 10 years, was club captain and just had a testimonial that if anything I expected more from him than from Taylor.
  • As per my Lyle Taylor thread comment.... This man is a massive prick for not having the balls ( or anyone could say he's quiet or shy.....that's bollocks) to stick around to help his team mates.....forget us fans. Factor in us fans and he let a LOT of people down. Don't give me the loyalty shit in the years he served. He should have explained If he was that much of a shy and retiring man....I'm like that but I'd always want to explain myself if I'd upset someone.... Let alone 15-20,000 fans. Prick. Please close these threads. Pointless now.🤷🏻‍♂️

Why did Solly miss the games then?

??? Your point? My point was Solly's inability to acknowledge the fans that had lovingly admired him for years.

When you called Solly a prick for not having the balls to stick around and help his team mates, I presumed you must know his reason.
