Anyone moaning at Amos needs a head wobble. He's not going to get everything right all the time or he wouldn't be playing in league one but the amount of crosses he claimed to relieve the pressure today was huge. I really liked Phillips but it's an area of Amos' game that is far superior to his and massive in games like today.36

well get on us winning the next 4 league games 3-0 to keep that pattern going .......8 -
First off, I bash the shit referees so I'm going to praise this one
He let the game flow and even division 3 players have got so used to referees buying them falling over to win fouls there was a few points today when both sides almost stopped when a player flounced aground.
He got a few things wrong but I appreciated the way the game was left to flow
Very concerned about Famewo he has been class all season and to lose him without centre half cover is a huge miss
Overall I felt Portsmouth especially their main men of Curtis, Williams and Marquis offered nothing of meaning. The two midfielders were decent but decent in a shitkicking way, we were thenbetter football team and games like this are marginal, we showed the right intent at the right times and my man Chuks is a doer. So glad Williams has finally got a goal and he showed the right desire to get there after a quality quick decision by Maatsen who I feared was going to try and trap the ball, I really like that kid. Possibly his shakiest game for us today and he was still a solid 7 the standards he has set himself
Shinnie and JFC won the midfield battle used the ball well and I hope JFC gets a run and makes the position his own as he is a better player than to be in this division
Prattley again a true pro, Bogle won't ever be a 20 goal a season man but he seems to have settled and is performing a role well. Connor Washington had another grafty game and is another good footballer who we will appreciate when he inevitably gets injured and out for 6 weeks
Gunter showed his experience and it was like Matthews had never been away, I want us to go up to give him a sensible contract. Proper fullback that guy
Great win, and nice to get anything over Kenny Jackett and his shitkickers9 -
Brilliant performance. Brilliant team effort. Players to come back and should only get better. Very happy again tonight!

Last year we had a keeper who hardly came for crosses and put defence under far more pressure on crosses.
Anyway we were great today you can tell a real team spirit is forming, brilliant defensively and options going forward.
We really do have our Charlton back.
Your point on comparing him to Phillips is a valid one and, I say again, I’ve enjoyed Amos’ performances this year and, apart from his couple of little moments, he was good today. The team did well today and Amos contributed to that and played a huge part, but you never get better unless you look to improve. I just think some of the decision making I mentioned is an area for Amos to work on. That’s all.2 - Sponsored links:

I reckon you could stick this fella up front and he would do a decent job!1 -

Didn't get a chance to watch or follow. Big surprise that result. Another clean sheet and a win when most of us would have been happy with a point.... but most importantly...
JONNY WILLIAMS!
Lovin it!1 -

The way I'm feeling I will drink enough for both of us.

Well I did not expect that! Excellent performance. I made a vow not to do player’s marks until I can see a game in the flesh but Gunter and Pratters today have tested my resolve. I can understand some of the worries over Ben’s decisions/handling today but no harm done and out of his system. Like to see JFC’s pass ‘map’ as I felt he was a bit wayward - but made up for it with a couple of crucial tackles so I’m not complaining. Really missing watching this live2

Yet still clearly a work in progress, I hope Famewo is not too serious an injury.
Portsmouth was a very tough test today, but by a little bit we were the better team.
Most of all it was a game that reminded me that Lee Bowyer, and Jacko know what they are doing.
One example is the work rate of the otherwise unrewarded Washington.
I also strongly disagree that Bogle had anything but a good game...he was a pain in the arse for Portsmouth all the time, they even brought on that sub at half time specifically to try to deal with his threat.3 -

All round solid performance and very welcome win against one of the league favourites. Sit up League One...the Valiant Sword is out to get you! 🎃1

Really pleased with Washington and Smyth, they receive pelters from posters, hope they continue to work hard and perform.6

The defence has had a lot of plaudits recently and again did a great job today, especially bearing in mind the suspension of Inniss and then Famewo's injury in the second half. To end the game with a right back (Gunter) and a midfielder (Pratley) as our centre back pairing without Portsmouth really getting a serious chance speaks wonders for our organising skills and the versatility of the players.
What is equally pleasing is that although we aren't creating that many chances, when we do we are deadly right now and both goals were excellent flowing moves. Still far too many passes going astray though and we seem to struggle with passing around teams that are pressing us high - more work to be done on that. But a very good performance overall and a great result.
It's a bit of a cliche that beating teams when you're not playing particularly well is a sign of Champions. That still seems somewhat over-optimistic to me but the signs are there that this could turn out to be a much better season than any of us would have believed possible just a few short weeks ago.13 -

Great win.
Don't mean to be negative at all but the number of injuries we are racking up again does really concern me.
