18 points in 17 days! At this rate we'll finish on 209 points.

Such an important game. Lose and we're level with them on 19 points and out of the play-off positions. Win and we're six points clear and looking good for an automatic spot. For thirty minutes we looked a league apart from them with some absolutely brilliant passing and moving. A couple of sucker punches and we had it all to do again. It pains me to say it but Evans is a quality striker. Fleetwood played well and proved they're more than a one man team though. Their winger (can't remember his name) caused Purrington all sorts of problems. Great to see that we dug in well though, although I'm sure we'd have looked more assured at times if we'd had Famewo at the back. Bottom line is that everyone contributed with a real gutsy performance. The most exciting game of the season. The hardest won three points. A good night all round.

A great win against a very good side at this level.I would like to see us hold on to the ball better at times - only 35% possession - but not complaining one bit.1

Crazy he has got in the side before Morgan.
In fact, I'll stick my neck out now. I reckon he could well go back to Man Utd in January.
Man U might not be happy though!
But, as you say, I can't see United being happy if he doesn't play. In that respect, I'd love to know whether there is a clause in the loan agreement that he has to be in the 16 if fit.
He's been in the 18 in every match, started 3, been on the bench in the other 7 matches and NEVER come on.
He's starting to look like a last resort signing, in that period before TS took over when we had no money and he was all we could bring in. Once the finance arrived, we could and would do better
Anyway, let's not get hang up on him tonight after such a cracking game. Which he watched from the subs bench.4 -

Still a LOT of Football and a good few injuries / suspensions to come9 -
A few things.
This team is played six, won six. And that's with 3 or 4 of them playing themselves into fitness.
Doughty's injury is almost a blessing in disguise. Possibly an unpopular opinion, I would put him in our top ten outfield players, I am not sure he would get in our best team though. I think the same could be true for Maddison.
If it wasn't for Covid I would send them all on a week's holiday in the sun Saturday night they deserve it.
This team is a title winning team, in a very different way to Curbs and Powell's.
I would love to sign Shinnie on a 18 month contract in January and bring another loan striker in.
Washington is now 1 goal ahead of Taylor in the 18/19 20/21 head to head :-)
He has also started less games.13 -
Barton post-match comments:
“It was a really good game”
“After Evans two goals, only thinking about winning the game, we were the better side, the better footballing team”
“They’re a big physical side, Lee has set them up well. They’ll be efficient in this league due to that physicality “

I certainly don't think Doughty uses the ball particularly well yet. His pace and directness is a weapon but he won't help a possession game. Not that without him we've gone for that either.2

First watch of the season for me, very impressed with Washington’s all round game, not so impressed with central midfield. Know it won’t happen but would love to build the team round Albie - proper player who plays with his head up. Gunther was quality and Pratley too0

I'm getting the impression that you're not really understanding Bowyer's gameplan - and how we are set up to play?

that be a bad thing, he seems to be struggling to get a foothold
and Lee clearly doesn't see him as a regular in the side.1 -

He is a very different player to Morgan.Levitt, ‘the best passer of a ball at united’ will no doubt come good. I just don’t think he’s gonna be necessary for us this season.2 -
Wonder if Lee has broken it down into the 9game blocks again. First 9 ended with Portsmouth W6 D1 L2. 19 points. Second 9 starts with a win, wonder how many we’ll get from this block? With the fixtures coming up I’d say 20-22 isn’t unrealistic to aim for. That would give put us around 40points after 18. Too early to predict we’ll have the league win by March? I’m going to go lay down.

That's the type of performance I've been expecting to see from Watson. Can't fault him, not even a booking to his name! Hopefully many more to come.

That said I have yet to see anything from Levitt that I've not seen from Albie and if a loanee brings nothing additional to the squad in his own right then it makes sense to me for us to play our own man.
If Albie gets a run in the side I think he will be a revelation. Just my view.7 -

The sky's the limit with the fire they have in their bellies and the belief in their hearts.
Almost brings me to tears .
Actually, that was Mr F bursting his birthday balloon he's been playing with....7 -

A further point, we've had a bit of a rebuild with so many new players coming in over the last few weeks.
Several of those have had no pre-season or they're lacking in match practice.
Bowyer's opted for a protect the defence policy with the 2 old hands, Prats and Watson, doing lots of ugly work and using their experience. They can rotate with each other once the new people have settled in and their fitness is up to scratch; Levitt will get games in rotation. His style of play will perhaps offer the chance to play more expansive football.
Under the embargo, Bowyer bust a gut to get Levitt, who's rated very highly not just by Bowyer himself, but by the Man U and Wales set ups.
Even though he's only 19, I believe we'll see Levitt get opportunities when the time is right for the team to be set up to play to his strengths.
