At the same time players themselves need to be careful and is probably why Bowyer feels that he can have this bit of liberty with them - Not exactly that high in the Football Pyramid are they any of these players that he's targetting, we've seen others who have let their career slide and none of them are far off earning shit wages in Football and having to hold down another job at the same timeChris_from_Sidcup said:

The reality is that on average this season we have had one shot on target every half an hour. If we continue to not playing creative players and even bringing a sub, who might positively influence the game, off because he misses a tackle the situation will remain the same.
Bogle subbed off early at Burton, Williams today, Morgan also getting stick in the post-match interview as well. Shouldn't these things be kept in-house. Have a go in the dressing room, don't rant about them to Louis Mendez (no offence Louis). How long before these players think 'fuck you' and stop playing for him?
Bogle and Williams are certainly on a downward trajectory with their careers - Morgan is still young but potentially isnt rated by other clubs seeing no one wanted him on loan in the Football League this summer.. If they want to bugger off in a strop at the end of their contracts (or sooner) then Bowyer is probably confident there is a high chance it wont be to a club that'll be better than us
Of course it would be interesting if he were to take this public stance with say Joe Aribo (when he was here) or Alfie Doughty, the sort of player he knows realistically he cant afford to piss off because it would seriously backfire in that regard0 -

It's getting ridiculous when your team is passing back to your goalkeeper, when you are in the attacking half.
65 yard pass backs to the goalie is literally beyond the pale.
Bowyer is in massive credit with me, but for the last few games it's getting beyond stupid.

Just throwing it out there, but when players are scared to make a mistake, they become over defensive... Like passing back to keeper when unpressured...

That really was a very poor display of football by Charlton. Very little accurate passing on the turf, too much sideways and backward passing. I can't comment on the make up of the team as I don't know who is fit and able to play. That said there is no need for the manager to call out players in public, it should done within the club. LB now has a week to improve the team and send out a team next Saturday that can win the game, if not then it will be time to criticise his ability, until then we should give him our backing.1

I actually agree with you @carly burn, I'm not calling for his head or changing him. He has a newish squad and trying to get them to gel, yes I think he tinkers a little too much, but let's see what he can do with a proper full transfer window and an owner who WILL support him. My question, obviously badly conveyed, is no one has come up with a credible alternate! Let's give LB support and time in my opinion.carly burn said:

Failed to get a result against a nothing team. Reminds me a lot of 2009-2010 (and prior to that 2007-2008). Then, as now, reasonable enough managers and a squad that was strong and rose to the occasion against the "big" teams but was inconsistent against the smaller clubs. Team selection, then, as now, seems strange. Why we didn't start Williams?At this stage, nobody on this thread actively wants Bowyer replaced: but it won't be up to us. Sangaard will take a view between now and June. Given how much he seems to have put into the club emotionally and financially he's entitled to.0

We must hold the record for the most back passes this season. How can we be with ball almost on the oppo 18 yard box and, within five seconds, be passing it around our own 18 yard box without losing possession? This has been our style of play over four games now and I’m sick of this negative style and players constantly checking back

First of all, I’m not for one moment saying Bowyer needs to go.
However, here’s my match thread comment from just before the penalty:
Which I stand by completely. It wasn’t Jonny Williams fault that we didn’t win. It also wasn’t Albie Morgan’s fault even though his sliced clearance led to the goal. It also wasn’t the ref’s fault, even though he missed the handball in the lead up to the pen.If we can hang on, I’ll be extremely grateful.But this has been BAD. Very very bad.Bowyer and the team really need to do something about our play and they need to do it fast before all of our momentum this season is wiped out completely.
It was a collective effort and the fault has to lay with two entities:
1) Lee Bowyer and
2) the team as a unit.
The team played poorly overall and need to take their share of the blame, but Bowyer needs to own his own mistakes. He set this team and the tactics up and he picked the players. Throwing blame around and chucking individual players under the bus is not a good look and he needs to sort that out.
You often hear managers saying certain players will “run through brick walls” for the cause, but how can you expect that sort of commitment from players when the manager won’t back them when times are tough?
Disappointed with Bowyer today. He needs to wise up and learn from this quickly before he loses the players, if it’s not already too late.

For the first time ever, I am starting to doubt Bowyer. Constant changes to the team, different formation every week, picking Watson & Pratley in the centre of midfield, always going on the defensive at the end of games.
He needs to go away and work out what is his best team and formation and pick it. And stop picking a team with one eye on next week.
And his substitution of Williams was crass. Totally crass. He's going to piss off his players big time if he carries on like that.1 -
