Swindon looked like the worst team we've played this season, they had nothing going forwards. No pace, no strength, no guile, nothing. And every time we went forward we had space appear and we looked like we could score with a bit of patience or the right ball. But what did we do? We brought Purrington on and went 5 at the back. Against fucking Swindon.

Honestly if we are a top 6 side then when you go away to relegation teams, you go to win, not defend and hit them on the counter. I am so absolutely sick of watching us play turgid nonsense non-football.

Tired of pub league insane management from Bowyer.
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
    Exactly.

It is clearly not working. Why not try attacking at trying to score a 3rd or 4th. Actually worked last week. Instead he invites pressure & as has been showed it usually ends up with us conceding late on.

I'd rather draw by going on the attack & then getting caught on the break than trying to defend.

You need to score goals in this league. All teams can score 1 or 2......so you need to score 3 or 4 to win. Lincoln & Gillingham scored 4 today.

i'm sorry but LB has lost it - that was total mismanagement - if he doesn't take a good look at himself and sort out this negative shit, he has to go

Terrible from Bowyer - again. Would a different manager be getting better out of this squad of players? I think theres a case to be made

Lee hasn’t learnt. That’s what most alarming for me.

Has happened time and time again and he still sets us up defensively when we take the lead.

Tactically, keeping Gilbey on for 90 minutes and not putting Faith in Williams, the guy that saved your arse last game is pathetic.

Im not Bowyer out, but this mentality won’t get us promoted. That’s when there will be questions.
This. Didn't play him after he scored for Wales, didn't play him both the games after he scored for us.

I'm just miffed at the decision making process here.

There are no tactics. We scored an excellent 2nd goal which our co-commentator attempted to get chalked off for offside, then decide to play 6 at the back and hope Aneke can be 3 players in 1.

    Our tactics appear:

If losing = Make attacking subs
If winning = Make defensive subs

    That is it?
  • Lee hasn't learnt anything from last season.
Fully expect him to blame the players.
I will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt as he has had another season wrecked by injuries ...

Depends who that Manager is... We've learnt from Parkinson | Slade | Robinson that its VERY easy to get trapped at this level if you dont get the right man

Should have won that comfortably, those defensive substitutions have cost us today and blown a good opportunity to gain a bit of ground on the play offs.

That ones on Bowyer and he needs to be grown up enough to admit that and not throw anyone else under the bus
This will be key for me. Does he blame the team or referees or put his hand up and say he got it wrong. I know what I expect given his past record.

Also, we weren't exactly brilliant in the first half either.

Got to be said; this tactic of going ultra defensive with this squad in this league is not good.
Bowyer a cracking boss but he needs to reflect on this. Time to switch up the approach.

  • Has this now reached the stage where Bowyer cannot resolve a constant problem? His same old caution, same lack of inspiration, bad tactics. An opposition sitting there waiting to be beaten and we play much of the game in our own half. If he has no better ideas then seriously we need new direction. The coaching levels at Charlton have been awful for years, just look at the first touch of so many players, awful. No thinking on their feet. Rigidity in the "style" of play and all down to an inflexible attitude from the manager. Not liking this any more.
  • Bow cant blame anyone but himself today. Awful tactics against a team that have lost the last 4 games. Be interesting what he has to say in his post match presser. Cant blame Albie or Williams this week Lee.
  • Just play to win the game FFS. We proved time and again we concede late when going defensive. Whats wrong with trying to score 3 or 4 rather than holding out. Proved against Wimbledon we are capable and id rather us drop points playing attacking football
  • Genuinely pissed off and fed up of the negative tactics. Thought we turned a corner in the last match but he returns to the negative shit straight away.

    It's an absolute joke.

Fucking Bowyer again!! What the hell is he doing ffs 25 minutes to go and we have 7 defenders/defensive players on the pitch. Swindon were shit like Burton like Shrewsbury but we play the same old shit every week. Getting sick of his negative tactics, and I thought I would never say that about him. He needs to remember were are not trying to earn the odd point in the championship like last season we have a quality squad in league 1 and should be taking it to these teams.

Was going to say, it almost would have been better if we went in a goal down.

I'm not convinced Bowyer knows how to see out a game.

This is getting a trend from Lee Bowyer. It's not as if Swindon were a good team. And to sit back like that for the final 20 minutes or so was just tactically all wrong. It's all very well Lee saying he's disappointed that we couldn't see it out (which no doubt he will) but you have to look at your tactics Lee. Just not good at all.
  • I guess could have been worse if we lost ,that would make it a miserable Christmas.
