Game was crying out for Williams to run down the clock with his pace and his ability to win set-pieces. So pee'd off.12

Very poor result against a poor team and negative tactics. Why?

Putting bias aside, we definitely have one of the strongest squads in the division. Williams, who helped change the game last week, who would have run at them, stays on the bench. Gunter goes to CB (because that's been so successful), inviting pressure.
Bowyer will blame our inability to hold on, which is definitely partly true. But if players are expected to learn from mistakes, why hasn't he? Time after time we invite pressure and concede in games we look destined to win. Swindon are not a good side and Bowyer gave them to much credit.11 -
"If each person did their job, we would have come back with 3 points."
"We were in control"
...that's all we are going to hear.
Take some accountability Lee. Opposition's know to save energy and attack your team's in the last 5 as they will crumble.

Omar set to be thrown under the bus today. Won't be down to that piss tactical change by LB1

All on Bowyer that. Negative starting XI. Negative finishing XI. Bit in the middle where we had to attack having gone behind we looked decent, but either side of that the mentality was all wrong and I don’t care what Bowyer says he needs to start trying to relieve pressure but putting us in the front foot rather than trying to weather the pressure by shutting up shop. He set the tone with those subs do it’s all on him imho.Maybe it is a good tactic with Innis and Famewo in the team but not a back three with only one centre back in it.There was a clear lesson last Saturday to keep attacking, but it appears to have gone right over Bowyers head. Again.4 full backs on the pitch FFS. Just not necessary. Hapless Gilbey and exhausted Washington see out the 90 mins while last week’s game changer Williams stays on the bench.I just can’t get my head around Bowyer’s thinking at the moment.24

Fuming so predictable. Called it about two minutes beforehand. Suspect everyone did. Just invite unnecessary pressure even against bang average sides,
cant be arsed to talk about.33 -
Caved in as usual when asked to defend a 1 goal league against one of the weakest teams in the league.
7 defensive players on, but they aren't up to it. Shit tactics and soft, mentally weak players.

Its not like we were all over Swindon all afternoon, they were constantly a threat, they didnt sit back like Wimbledon
I dont agree with the two defensive substitutions, part of me can see why they were made1 -
I'm sorry but I'm just about starting to have enough of Bowyer and his ridiculous tactics.
Why take a midfielder off and bring on another defender when we are comfortable? All it does is invite pressure and another last minute goal against us.
He just keeps on doing it. Time after time we let in a late goal. Can he not see how effing stupid it is?
Seriously, if you keep on doing on this Lee your time is going to be up soon.9 -
I don't like criticising Lord Bowyer but those dropped points are down to him and his defensive tactics.
We had the beating of Swindon in the second half.
Instead of adopting a "what we have we hold" attitude we should have been pushing to increase our lead.
Goal difference is going to be as important as points so seeing the likes of Pompey, Lincoln, Donny, Posh et al winning by 2 or 3 goals each week puts us at a disadvantage if we're trying to win matches by one.3 -
Was only half watching, whilst the news was on in the background, noticed all the usual defensive subs so it was inevitable we were heading for a swashbuckling, backs to the wall, panic stations last 20 mins against that almighty Real Swindon Town.
Almost a relief to get the equaliser out of the way whilst there were still a few minutes on the clock.1 -

I don’t know if I’m being harsh but for me Washington can’t play that counter attacking style.
Slowed every attack down, had 0 end product and just looked a bit hopeless.
I like his work rate and he’s done alright so far, but watching him today was a bit painful.6 -
As I said, the only explanation must be that Bows is placing bets on the opposition to score late in the game....no-one is that thick that they would keep repeating a sure-fire point losing tactic, expecting success, surely?
Absolutely bewildering.3 -

Maddison was having a good game. Creating things from nothing.
Feels odd saying this, but I have confidence in TS sorting this shit show out.6 - Sponsored links:

Not saying that Gilbey should be absolved of any blame, but find it ridiculous how you're so prepared to protect Bogle but happy to slate Gilbey when neither have overly impressed
And before you come out with: "But Bogle scored", dont forget, Gilbey got an assist for our second so both were involved in each of our goals today, but did little else2 -
Pathetic for this to keep happening. Agree this is on Bowyer. If he comes out and says the usual bollocks about seeing the game out I’ll be seething.Bringing on 2 full backs ffs!!!!Got to learn5
-
Not going along with the positive folk saying a draw away is a good result. That one as with Shrewsbury are defeats as far as I’m concerned. Bowyer, ffs, when are you going to learn with these stupid change in tactics when we’re playing bottom league clubs?5

Redvalleyeast said:Bow cant blame anyone but himself today. Awful tactics against a team that have lost the last 4 games. Be interesting what he has to say in his post match presser. Cant blame Albie or Williams this week Lee.3

Lincoln go to 5th bottom Northampton and win 4-0. We manage a draw against a team 3rd bottom. Difference between grabbing a game by the bollocks and managing to kick yourself in your own bollocks.2

I started swearing at the TV when Bowyer made that last substitution. I think every Charlton fan knew what was going to happen. Bowyer will no doubt talk about the lack of game management but this seems to come from the top down. Without late goals we'd have comfortably stayed in The Championship last year yet we're seeing the same approach again. Not good enough by the manager, who's not a rookie any more.

Two points cast to the wind and we paid the price for negative substitutions against a bottom four side who had lost four on the spin. Poor decisions from Lee Bowyer, I’m afraid. It keeps happening against weak sides and it is simply not good enough.
Swindon were pretty hopeless - especially defensively - save for their right winger, but we turned it into a lottery by sitting so deep in the last 20 minutes.
We played like a mid-table side hoping to sneak a rare away win, not a side with genuine promotion aspirations. Very poor and a total contrast from the attacking verve of last week’s second half.
