well done Lee and the team, credit where it’s due, thought Deji and jake were very good today, hopefully bowyer acknowledges that, particularly Deji for the confidence boost.6

Such a shame today's approach wasn't used regularly before but hopefully it's a turning point.O-Randy-Hunt said:Credit to bows for not bringing on 3 defenders when we went 1 up.28 -
A gutsy team performance but should of had a hatfull of goals after being in control of the game so much.
Fortunately Bristol didn't take their chances.
3 points at last!!!!!!!0 -

Seems to be par for the course in some quarters.

Much better performance all round and a thoroughly deserved win. Great to get a clean sheet again. Dominated possession and territory for much of the game. More urgency, won lots of second balls. Should have been more clinical with the final ball and with the finishing and we would have won by at least two or three goals.
Pretty much everyone played well, although Chuks was a little out of touch. Deji Oshilaja immense in defence. JFC and Albie particularly excellent in midfield and it’s a shame that the latter picked up the red card which will disrupt what was developing into a good partnership. I’ve been very critical of Omar Bogle in the past but credit where it’s due, he did well when he came on. He missed a good chance at the death but so did several players - including Ronnie, who tripped over when poised to score and then blocked a goal bound effort from Chris Gunter. Ronnie possibly rates as Rovers’ best defender on the day
but he looks dangerous and will score plenty for us this season.I fancy us at Peterborough now. They are good up front and so are we, so it could be another high scoring match.

Honestly thought we'd see a defender when Morgan walked.3 -
Bowyer post-match:
”We was good start to finish. Very professional and solid. Everyone put in a good shift.”
”Ultra picky we should have scored more”
”I’m really happy with clean sheet. Whole back 4 were solid and very strong”
”Fair play to Deji, he’s had to wait, and he was excellent on and off the ball. Looked physical and strong in the air”
”Jake is getting better and better. He’s doing really well. Driving us in the middle of park”9 -

Well that was better. Let's hope that Bowyer has turned the corner and learnt how best to use his players.
From the little I've seen, Aneke and Schwartz look like a potentially good partnership. I'd like to see them have more time together.
Washington and Smyth were our weakest players today.
No complaints over Albie sending off. No idea what he was thinking for either yellow.
Most remarkably, Bogle showed that he has plenty to offer, I was very impressed with his effort and effectiveness. Just a pity that he didn't manage to convert the very late one on one.
Schwartz did little today but early days yet, so not many minutes under his belt, I'm sure he will show us more as time goes by.
We just need to make a little more space for attempts inside the opponents box.
All around much better and more positive.5 -
I hope that Deji keeps his place and that Pratley will come in at midfield for Tuesday night.

Phew... After weeks of depression, arguments, crazy after match interviews we finally get a win....
Well deserved but leave Ronnie alone...poor fella hadn't played for 6 months so he deserves a break.
If LB turns this around I will be the first to say he should be given a medal!
Looking forward to Peterborough now.0 -
A cracking three points and a clean sheet at last. Squeaky bum time at the end, with the second goal somehow eluding us and down to 10 men, but a thoroughly deserved win against a fairly basic Bristol Rovers side.
We certainly had the better chances throughout and could easily have put the game out of sight.
Defensively, I thought Deji Oshilaja was outstanding, with his pace and a number of key interceptions and a fantastic block towards the end. Gunter struggled and was targeted in the first half but picked up in the second, while Matthews was a very reassuring presence at right back.
A man of the match performance from Jake Forster-Caskey in midfield, both in and out of possession. Albie Morgan also did very well, although he showed his inexperience with the two yellow cards. The first one was silly and a nailed on card and, once you’ve got that one, don’t leave the foot in on the second challenge.
Up front, Chuks missed a couple of chances but troubled them when he was on and Miller was a real threat, with his pace and directness. Washington was (not for the first time) pretty anonymous and I was pleased to see Bogle making a contribution when he came on.
A vital and hard earned result and one that should give the lads some confidence for the next raft of games coming up.

Said it post-Hull when they got that bloody deflected goal
We just needed a moment of luck ourselves to turn the tide for us - Few goals have been as a result of mistakes, some have been purely down to a bit of luck but felt we just needed that moment ourselves to build something from, almost a sliding doors moment
Felt it came with Forster-Caskey's deflection on Tuesday night!!
Only other point I'll make is I felt confident very early on - Someone made the point during our run that our issue is we dont like it when teams press us, it forces us backwards and we end up playing pointless passes amongst our back four - Rovers didnt do that once today, felt it played into our hands a bit too much, they let us get on with things a bit too much which is more fool them3 -

Think everyone involved today comes out of that in credit: the players for showing effort and willing even when the quality wasn't quite there, and Bowyer for his tactical choices and substitutions, hopefully a lesson learned.
That was exactly what was needed after the midweek game. Desire and effort and even a bit of luck, but hopefully that served as a line drawn under what's come before and we move onward and upward.2 -

Reckon there would have been subtle change in tone if we had conceded a last minute equaliser!ForeverAddickted said:

Yeah its very easy for him to sit there and think rationally when we win, its when we dont he needs to count to ten - I'd have hoped that he'd still have said the same about Morgan and would have focused a bit more on the person who'd made the mistake for the goalse9addick said:
