KevRoyalOak1 said:Hi guys. Thanks for all the support, we look forward to taking over this iconic Charlton pub and I’m sure we will hopefully not disappoint you in the way things are going to be run.Extra service points on match days are being put in place so wait time is minimised and we have also put in a state of the art kitchen to supply takeaway burgers & chicken Wings on match days where we won’t be taking dinner reservations on due to the demand being so high on them days from our home fans! This pub is very special to me as I’ve drank in there for years as a Charlton season ticket holder, so it will be a different experience for me being on the other side of the bar on this occasion, I look forward to meeting you all hopefully sometime soon when the pubs are back open and then eventually even more so when the stadium is back open! 🔴🔴Nooooooooo!11

In 40 plus years going charlton, I’ve never been in the oak, always looked too busy, but I will definitely be in there when we can, does it have an outdoor area at back aswell as out front?
good luck.0 -

The Oak was a brilliant pub when Ray and Penny had it back in the early 00's. I hadn't drunk in there with previous landlords so cant compare. They knew how to serve the football crowd quickly. They paid the barstaff an excellent day wage for the football days and they knocked it out for them. Was a brilliant pub then.
Then the refurb came with the next landlord and he ruined the pub. I lived local then and it was my regular. It went downhill after that.
Very pleased to see it is going to get a new look and a whole new life hopefully. I hope it will be a great pub again. Good luck Kevin, I wish you the very best, you've done a great thing keeping it on as a pub.
I might even come in and try it on a non match day now. When the pubs eventually open again!

I'd love for it to be a viable option matchdays again, lost count of the times I gave up the queue and then indignities of being ignored unless you act like a prick to get served so would scamper over to the corner shop and smash 4 cans of red stripe out the front instead.4

They've done a great job at the Rose & Crown, to the point where we had our last football club Christmas doo there.
If they have the right staff and the right amount of them behind the jump it will do well. Have never known a pub so badly run after it had that awful refurb done the last time.2 -

So many great memories. The extension of the vodka club.....and of course, it's where I met my husband.
See you there when it opens B!
