    Reasons Against Adkins :
    Glasses
    Nigel
    56 years old
    Hasn't won Premier title.
    Cafc fans love to moan
    Went to university
Born across the Mersey from Liverpool
    Reads poetry
    Ex Goal keeper

    Reasons for Adkins:
Three times promoted from League 1
    Physiotherapist
    Intelligent
    Good man manager
    Calm under pressure
15 years younger than Roy Hodgson.
    Very good tactical manager

100% support from me who ever Thomas Sandgaard picks; unless it's Steve Evans or Tony Pulis.
Karel Freye would be problematical.  ;)

Charlton fans have been underwhelmed since 1921.

Everyone is 15 or more years younger than Hodgson

Can’t see it being announced until Thomas is at The Valley. When’s he due in ?
After he’s isolated in a hotel for two weeks !

Having studied the records of all the available options there is one stand out candidate. Respected by all at the club , put Matty boy in his place and doesn't take any prisoners - Tracey Leaburn
  • Adkins 1/3 now

He most recent time in L1, with Sheffield United is less convincing though

2014/15 - they finish 5th under Nigel Clough with 71 points
2015/16 - they finish 11th under Nigel Adkins with 66 points
2016/17 - they finish 1st under Chris Wilder with 100 points

A pessimist will say that was poor, an optimist would say he built the foundations for them to thrive the following season.

A realist will say one good season doesn't make a manager as one bad season doesn't make a manager.

Adkins and Jackson as co-managers might even be what's on the table here, we don't know yet

Please let the gods of footy NOT give us Nigel fecking Adkins!

This would be a massive step backwards.

Kenny Jacket or the Cowleys, even Pulis but not Adkins. If he got the job over JJ you wouldn't blame him for not hanging around.
    Jacket or Pullis ?

I’ve just spat my tea out reading that .

How is a manager who has won 3 promotions from this league, plus a promotion to the Premier league a step backwards?

Jackett nor the Cowleys can match that.

No one of reasonable mind and sound character can consider Adkins a step back from Bowyer. It’s not Howe or Wilder, but it was never going to be.

I think that’s probably more to do with people having a few quid on him. The bookies don’t want to risk big payouts.

An appointment to really capture the hearts and minds of Charlton fans. There will be a scramble for Season Tickets that for sure ...

if you think they'll be a problem selling season tickets, then you need to change what you're drinking

Who would cause a 'scramble for season tickets' then?  That we could actually get?

People don't scramble for season tickets based on managerial appointments in my experience... (Powell aside)

Well unless it's JJ & AC or AC & JJ.

Here's the note Adkins left his Southampton players after he was sacked

I think after Bowyer we may be entitled to a bit more wholesomeness about the place. I know you don't necessarily win anything being a nice guy, but players ARE humans...
Don't like the way he writes his 'E's, and the nose on the smiley face is poor.

comes across as a decent bloke in his interviews and a good manager. its actually refreshing to see a manager sack a club for a change.

Actually, do open up the comments beneath that BBC article and give them a read. They should allay some doubters' fears.

It’s unfortunate for him they he has Howard as a middle name as well.

We might need to take a few E’s before going to games.

When a manager's first name is the single biggest demerit to his appointment, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad appointment.

    Hell of a demerit, granted
  • Not my first choice, but I don't understand the hate towards Adkins; he's won promotion out of L1 three times. Would personally love Michael Beale. Matt Taylor, Daniel Stendel or Russell Martin also good shouts imo.

Love JJ but not convinced he's ready, think any side above the bottom six would've finished us off at 2-0 last night.

Very positive and does make you wonder what he might be able to achieve if TS gives him a bit of money to spend.
