All eyes on Adkins Twitter feed, he posts a new video of himself walking every day (for prostate cancer), it’s been 23 hours since the last one, will he be too busy for it today..
Im slowly coming round to the idea of Adkins, was firmly against it originally but sometimes a bit of blind faith won’t hurt, up the addicks.0 -

What it does tell us is Sandgaard is either adamant this is the best course of action for the period ahead, or Roddy does and TS has given him full autonomy.
The easy option would have been given it to Jackson.
The cheap option would also have been given it to Jackson.8 -

They really weren't. Lallana and oxlade Chamberlain came through the youth system. I think they signed Lambert shortly after they were relegated. Schnedelin was signed from pretty much obscurity, playing a handful of times for a Strasbourg B side.
If anything,the players you mention enhance his reputation. Not afraid to bring youth through and help them excel. Good eye for a player home or abroad. He moulded a lot of these players.
So what you’re saying is he’s a manager that improved players and not just claimed he did? That’ll be refreshing.3 -

He was on Tim Lovejoys podcast last week where he talks about his career among other things.Interesting listen if you’ve got a free 20 mins today, he’s on towards the end of the N episode.0

He was unsettled as soon as he went to Burnley. It was the wrong move for him.

Eddie Howe should be offered the Palace job as Roy Hodgson is getting long in the tooth. (He should turn it down and come to a proper club where he can build a football legacy)
I will never forget the master class when they won the Championship and played the ball to Yann on the ground and every one ran off him, with Pugh, Wilson, Richie, etc playing a fantastic pass and move game.
Most managers will "fail' in the end. Or at the beginning of their tenure if they are not given time.
If Abramovich was in charge at United when Man utd were losing 2-0 to Cafc, Ferguson would have gone the same way as Frank Lampard. Even under the Martin Edwards era he was one cup defeat away from the sack.
I agree @samB09 with the points you make, and IF Adkins is the choice he could have a great working relationship with Thomas Sandgaard and I'm getting greedy now but JJ as his assistant and Steve Gallen carrying on trying to get better players to this club now the restrictions have been eased would be a dream team on improving our fortunes, even if we have another season in League 1.

I’d be happy with Adkins. Granted, he hasn’t had a job in a while, but I think the Hull job was a nightmare and managing in those circumstances doesn’t make him a bad manager. We also have to factor in that jobs at bigger clubs are always a pull. Hull had been in the prem in recent years, so there would’ve been a pull on his part.He did very well for Southampton. He’s not on the same level, but a lot of people had probably written off Moyes after losing the man Utd job and drifting to Sunderland then West Ham and being let go by West Ham, only to be reappointed. I think Adkins may be similar. A good manager, circumstances worked against him at Soton, and then you go into a bit of a lottery as to next club and decent opportunities. It’s not unusual for someone of high stock to lose a job at a decent club, then suddenly have to find themselves applying for a team in the division below.

Priority is getting out of this league. If we're appointing managers purely on sentiment, we may as well have stuck with Bowyer and enjoyed mid table.
As for Adkins 'downward spiral'. He took Hull from 20th to 13th, in the championship. What's downward about that?
Adkins, yes he did very well at Scunthorpe (physio appointed out of necessity and it worked) However, I think even Pardew would have taken them out of L1 if other matters had not intervened. He then had a huge achievement in getting them to the Premiership. That was 9 years ago.
After leaving the Saints he failed to save Reading from the drop and in that impt first season down just missed the play offs and then was sacked next season when they were 16th.
He then took Sheff Utd to a lowest league finish since 83, 11th place
Sure he stabilised Hull but with their wage bill and the players they had they were under achieving. Dec they were 20th, he guided then to 18th. They were in the Premiership the season before. Yes he walked away from them after a 13th place finish but it has not been so successful to have job offers heading his way all the time?
Maybe if he is appointed he will do very well for us. I really hope so. But sometimes you look at the manager and just know they will not succeed...Lambert at Ipswich (similar cv), Parkie at Sunderland.1 -
Still have the feeling TS is going to pull a big name out of the hat to match his big ambitions. I'm thinking Eddie Howe if TS can sell his dream.

The speed at which Sandgaard said 'we'll have our man in place by the end of the week' with a big smile & the fact he repeated it in several other interviews, I do wonder if the new man (Looks like Adkins) was already lined up to take over in the summer & they've just moved it forward.
Purely speculation on my part & we'll never know the answer6 -
Sandgaard has shown before, he does his research. When he first took over, the Southampton model must have been big in his thoughts. He speaks to other teams chairman a lot by the sounds of things. No doubt he would have had some dialect with the people who were working alongside Adkins during those years.1 -
For any number of reasons you would always hope that the owner would have an idea of who he would appoint at any given time. Definitely seems to have been some inevitability to what has played out in the last week. Been going on for weeks/months I should think. Who knows the best person for the role?
Having thought about Adkins, he looks a good fit for us. I really hope that JJ can be persuaded to stay in place as I really think it will be good for us and good for JJ longer term, learning his trade from a manager that has great experience.2 - Sponsored links:

I remember reading an interview with Les Reed a few weeks ago where he said Southampton had managerial appointments planned ahead of where they were . Hence why ironically they moved so quickly to replace Adkins with Poch.Cafc43v3r said:

One big difference Adkins and Bowyer is adkins is very very positive have seen some of snippets on Twitter it can come across a bit cringey but we are just going have to embrace it2

I used to work with a woman who was unfailingly cheery even at half 8 on a rainy Monday in January, and I always found it put me in a better mood rather than being around more grumpy gits like me.12
