Is he allowed to play for us, even if we wanted him to?0

This is all about the bloke's mental health, surely?
And maybe something to do with the Twitter post he put up the other day?

He's left Bolton for mental health reasons, so i can't imagine that with 4 weeks of the season left and him not being able to play for us anyway that we're going to be demanding he rocks up for training.
I'm sure it'll be a case of Adkins saying to him 'go and see your daughter and sort your head out and i'm here to support you if you need anything'.13 -

I feel sorry for the bloke to be honest, obviously has a lot of issues that I hope he sorts mentally. Reminds me of my brother, more worried about playing his playstation over family and work.
That being said they obviously moved him on at the right time for them.3 -

hope he gets his head sorted. He's either going to retire quite soon or he's going to bounce around non league for a long time imo.6

Perhaps we will see what Adkins and Maddison are made off. Great player on his day, just those days are now getting so far apart.1

Sounds like a difficult time for Maddison. Hopefully he can use this time, while still being paid which is good, to go home and start to get his head right ahead of getting a new club in the summer. Recovering from mental health issues doesn't work on a schedule but he's in a good place now to be able to make some serious progress getting better.

I have not read all the information, but surely, if Bolton agreed to take him until the end of the season, the fact that he is being let go, must mean that they are still the ones owing him the money until the end of the season, unless they paid him off.2

If Bolton agreed to pay 50% (or whatever) of his wages until the end of the season, they'll continue to do so until the end of June, while we pay our share.1 -

The last thing we need in training is someone who we aren't allowed to pick. If we were drifting in midtable it might be ok, but we have a new manager trying to get promotion, with 2 games a week to play. His priority has to be the current squad2 -

Surprised they’ve made it ‘public’ in cancelling ties and not just said he’s picked up an injury keeping him out of consideration0

Wouldn’t it be possible to deal with this situation with a degree of sensitivity one day at a time, one event at a time, and see how it goes?4
-
Hope he is able to sort out his mental health and family issues and get himself back on track.
Just shows that, as many suspected and said, all wasn't right with him while he was here (and perhaps before).
While the then manager may not have helped the situation, and maybe made it worse, it wasn't all about Bowyer.7
