Post-match Thread: Charlton v Ipswich | Sat 17 April 2021 | 12:30pm

I missed the first half due to not paying attention to the kick-off time.

Seemed either side lacked that bit of impetus in the final third. We had the better of the chances in the second half, but it was not enough for all three points.

A shame not to progress further given the opportunity this afternoon, but still a point and a clean sheet.

Over to you.

Our finishing was a bit too powderpuff.

Without Aneke, Washington and Maatsen, it was always going to show if we didn't take advantage of a set piece.

Our defence is looking solid. Innis is such a threat in both boxes. JFC's radar a bit hit and miss today.

We were the better side. Think we needed a change up top though, if Schwartz didn't get a look in today he's got no chance

    Deflating.

    Standard issue incompetent ref too.

    I hate this league.

It felt pretty turgid to me for the most part. Really need someone who can get behind a tired defence and punish them. Reckon we'd have won if we'd had Washington.

The good news is that we now look very solid from back to front. The bad news is that without Washington and a fit Chuks we have little goal scoring threat.
We now have the playoffs in our own hands with Portsmouth losing. But another game on Tuesday is a big ask with the same midfield/forward line-up.

I don't get why Adkins is unwilling to give Schwartz a go.

I don't get why we didn't bring in any creative players.

I don't get why Stockley can't finish with his feet.

The sooner Chuks and Wash are back the better.

Ipswich won't take 6th, so that's one less side to worry about.

Poor game. 1 up front at home is not good enough. Also a hot afternoon and no subs from Adkins at the end.  Surely schwartz could have been an option for 5 mins. Obviously doesn't rate him.

It wasn’t nearly as bad as some are making out. Two teams cancelled each other out for large periods of the game but we were the more threatening from what I saw of it.

More than twice the number of shots Ipswich had (9 shots to 2 in the second half) but unfortunately even the deflected ones were going wide or into the keeper’s arms. One of those days where we needed something to fall our way and it didn’t.

We move on to Tuesday and given Portsmouth’s loss, we are a point closer to top six than we were two hours ago.
  • I'm still annoyed about our lack of ability to really control a home game, however Ipswich are not a bad side, and we're not going to win every game between now and the end of the season.

It was mot great from us, but a draw and another clean sheet is fine in this game especially with our results before. We just need to make sure we turn our home form around for the run in and I think we will be fine.

Shame they never cancelled the whole fucking lot!

Enjoy your 90 minutes of mediocrity everyone?

    Whoop whoop!

Extends our unbeaten run but that's probably more because Ipswich got the result they came for, created enough chances but no one clinical enough, 90 minutes of my life I won't get back
  • Struggling to get my head round why Adkins didn't try something different, for example, bringing on Schwartz and playing him up front alongside; or seeing if Shinnie could unlock things.

Merely changing Pratley for Watson was never going to change things.

Lifeless, languid performance that felt like a pre-season friendly.

We turned it up a notch from the 62nd minute but it wasn't enough. Perhaps could have scored but had a 0-0 written all over it.

Thought Stockley was poor today and is another spongefoot with his feet. Bit of a one-trick pony. Aneke is much more of a threat and has to start if he's fit.

Shocking how much Millar has regressed from his early performances.

Disappointing, feel very frustrated with that performance, and the continuation of themes we've seen this season - brainless free kicks, poor decision making in the final third, inexplicable time wasting.

That was very dull. Schwartz clearly isn't rated, as I'd have pulled DJ, Millar, or Stockley off and given him a run for the sake of it

    Disappointing performance from both teams

Repeat of what I said at half-time where both sides seemed afraid at times of trying to go for it and take risks.

Thought Holy had a pretty comfortable afternoon, it was the type of display from him why I'll always argue on here when people complain about us not having any shots on target - Well we had plenty of shots on target today and they got us no where!!

As a result though shouldnt be too disappointed, the talk on here before Sunderland was that we needed four points from that game and this so cant overly complain - Although we're very lucky that Portsmouth appear to be struggling at the moment.

in terms of subs can only imagine Adkins had one eye on Plymouth on Tuesday

Bone dry performance with little creativity. Would have liked to have seen schwartz, did he come on? Fell asleep

It's also worth remembering - just because we want to get promoted, it does not mean we are going to turn into the team that we want to see overnight.

NA is working with the same set of players we have had all season. We are looking more organised and settled. We WILL build slowly.

A few stockley chances at his feet where perhaps Schwartze would have been a good option?

Shocking game of football and completely wasted opportunity. Gilbey was poor again, don't get this guy at all, think Mk Dons have flogged us a dead horse.

Awful performance. Why didn’t he make subs? Steve Brown waffling rubbish for 90 minutes at every opportunity . So poor
Think Brown's running out of interesting commentary tbh.

That game would have been tough to talk about at times though.

We're not out of form, only Hull and Blackpool had better form than us going into this game

Even now we're fourth in the form table

Overall, i think we deserved to win that, 2nd half Amos was largely untroubled. Our final ball was severely lacking any quality. This time last week i think we all wouldve taken 4 points from these games,so although disappointed not to follow up last weeks great win with another today im fairly happy with the point as we werent at our best.

No Schwartz, only sub was Watson for Pratley.
