You won't be the only person thinking that, that is definitely what occurred in tonight's episode. Personally I feel Carmichael will turn out exactly how she seems. A career driven hard faced bitch. She doesn't like Hastings and doesn't see it as so personal like our Ted does. Hastings would go after Osborn, Carmichael wouldn't because he is her boss and targeting him could ruin her career. 

I've never fully been able to guess correctly, surely can't be as obvious as Osborn being the main guy and killing Thurwell/getting him killed. 

I agree.

It's an opportunity to show how women in a position of power who are ruthless are seen in comparison to the same behaviour in men.

Looked very much like the Spanish lead special forces bloke.

I can't imagine they'd get a high profile actor like James Nesbitt involved and then only use a couple of photographs of him without a proper appearance.

I thought that too but he was just in Bloodlands (also produced by Jed Mercurio) so I could see him being chucked in to confuse viewers.

I am enjoying it, but less so than the previous series. It's much more difficult to follow, and seems like it's been written to appeal to all those obsessives that hunt down the subliminal clues like a letter "H" disguised in the kitchen tiles. 

Must admit I still think it's good, but it peaked about Series 3 ("urgent exit required" etc).

I don't think he was the police guy but I still think he's alive and will be the ultimate big bad, probably next series. 

Surely has to be someone still within the force though? Someone would have to alerted him that AC12 were looking into him (admittedly could be one lower down the chain). But still think the big bad will be one of Carmichael, Osborn or Wise. I think Jo Davidson was told Thurwell was her dad.

A lot of work goes into adding all those sorts of clues into the show for the 'at home detective' viewer.
Things that would be missed by those just watching the show but bits that will be discussed for days and sometimes weeks on social media by those more obsessed.

The majority of them lead nowhere and aren't even mentioned on the show again. But instead the objective of those clues is purely to create discussion.

Things like the H in the kitchen tile, perhaps the Carmichael - race claim = h.

All very clever. And 99% of it just to get us talking.

Anyone else enjoy the fact that they had CCTV in the prison to protect Jo Davidson when they haven't bothered for anyone else in similar situations for 5 and a half bloody series?!
