  • Where do they find these refs. Lovren is allowed to jump.
  • Disgusting decision for the penalty and also means lovren on a yellow

When the ref gets sent to the monitor they’re basically being told they have made a mistake.

I think that influences the refs decision there because that is never a pen.
Nah probably due to the break in play the ref asked if there was an elbow or clash of heads.

VAR man says elbow and ref goes to check and makes the wrong decision.
  • The ref made the decision before you all bleat on about VAR.
Your constant blinkered defence of VAR is truly laughable.

Theres absolutely no defending that decision.
  • The ref had a perfectly good view of that in real time. He should have looked at the replay and stuck by his original decision.

Ref made the wrong decision. HE watched the replay.

Only after the VAR got involved.

I guarantee if the break in play doesn't happen that isn't given.

Ref probably heard it was the elbow that caused the injury and then made his mind up from there.
  • Surely England fans want the Czech's to win? Or do we want to win the group and play at Wembley against one of the big boys ?

Harsh Penalty but admire Schick taking a fine penalty with his busted nose and double vision  :#

But it's still an official at VAR headquarters who thought it was penalty, and then the on field official who awarded it
  • If Var doesn't exist then there's no penalty
Var does exist and a penalty is given.
  • I'd have a lot more respect for the pro-VAR cult if they would just occasionally admit it resulted in a pile of sweaty old bollocks.
  • Poor keeping that
  • Silly VAR decision but class from perisic. Better for country than club?

Bloody taxman has to poke his nose in 😁.
There's 1 decision for you, 19 decisions for me, Taxman!
  • I think the lack of ambition from Croatia suggests that they think they will stuff Scotland.
  • Can't remember the last time I've seen a game end before the allocated injury time is over
  • Referee in Scotland has had a complete mare today. That dodgy VAR review and then blowing for full time 20 seconds early. Weird.

I thought the same. Isn’t the number of minutes supposed to be a minimum?

They looked a little urgent for a while after half time but then yeh it slowed down.
As you say they think they can beat Scotland but its a dangerous tactic.

Both sides were happy for as point. The Czechs have 4 points, the Croats expect to beat Scotland which would also give them 4 points

Risky though, even assuming Scotland get nothing today, if the Croats only draw with Scotland, then they'll finish with 2 points which surely won't be enough for them to progress

Barca fan. He can't stand Modric.
  • Three crap games today.
  • The games so far have been generally rubbish.

    Agreed.

    Not until today.
  • Three crap games today.
Agreed, it's been a reasonable tournament so far, but today has seen a lot of defensive, negative football, with too many teams happy to take a draw or not capable of creating enough to threaten opponents

After yesterday, we do have to consider what might happen if we get beaten by the Czech Republic. Will four points be enough if we lost and ended up third? We certainly can't finish below third. I suppose we need to look at this group by group. Group A has Turkey who can get three points max and Switzerland who can get four but has a minus 3 goal difference. That is a positive. In Group B, Denmark have 0 points and Finland have to play Belgium. I suspect third place will ultimately have three points there. In Group C, Austria and Ukraine have 3 points each but play each other. A win either way would mean third place would have 3 points. A draw would mean four points with a neutral goal difference which could be an issue for England due to goals scored.

Group D will have Spain playing Slovakia and Poland. If Spain win those, third place can't better 3 points. If there is a shock in one of these two games, it could bring the Group into play for England. Group F could be interesting if Portugal beat Germany. It would mean the Germans could only get 3 points maximum which would be positive for England and put their continuation at risk. However, a draw between Portugal and Germany would potentially be bad news for England.  Weighing it all up, it looks like four points is highly likely to be enough which is a relief as I believe any result is possible against the Czechs, including a defeat. I would be surprised if Group A was an issue and if Finland got anything from Belgium so those two groups are our best bet.

Thanks to the spreadsheet posted on here for that analysis. Definitely worth a download for those who haven't done so as it works out the third places for you and the next round of games.
