  • That’s it, I’m off for a snooze, window has truely slammed shut, I’m sure there’s more to follow, and some will be happy, and some will not be happy, and some are  just … well never happy!

Me thinks we have quite a good squad

No way will Morgan play in front of Lee or Arter
No way will Lee be part of a midfield 2 in a 442! He's not a central midfielder, he's either a second (and slightly withdrawn) second striker in a 442 (4411), or he's the part of a 3 man midfield in a 433

Is Leko confirmed or are we still trying to ‘get it over the line’?

CB, ST, LB concerns me. Other than that, all good.
The good thing about getting Leko (hopefully) is that Washington can go back to being a striker. With Stockley, Washington, Davison + Lee/Leko up there if required we should have enough up top

Every single one of us today said we needed a left back and a striker as a MINIMUM. We've signed a centre back and a winger.

We've brought in some good players but we are still woefully short as a squad in my opinion. One injury to Stockley and the season is over.

    MacGillivray _______
    Matthews Gunter
    Inniss Lavelle
    Famewo Pearce
    Purrington _______
    Arter Dobson
    Clare Watson
    Gilbey Morgan
    Jaiyesimi Blackett-Taylor
    Kirk Leko
    Stockley Davison
    Lee Washington

The goalkeeper can be filled by an emergency loan quite easily, the glaring hole is at left back, and has been since the last game of last season

Do the club usually tell us when we can go to bed?

Looks a very good XI to me. Second XI of:

    Harness (emergency loan if needed)
    Gunter Lavelle Pearce Roddy
    Morgan Dobson
    CBT Gilbey Leko
    Washington

Plus Watson, Davison and Schwartz. I don't think we'll run away with the league but it looks reasonably strong. There is no obvious weakness but I doubt many League 1 sides can genuinely say they don't have a position or two that looks weak.

Add to that Davison , Elejwrere and Barker who in my mind are all getting close

For me it was LB and CB. The left back situation still concerns me. Hopefully they have a free agent lined up.

Just give me half a bottle of Blue Nun, please.
  • He's a midfielder.. I was hoping that's our LB. That is an odd decision
Assume our left back deal feel through so we took Clayton last min to use up out last loan spot....rather than waste it.

Football is a squad game more than ever nowadays and we must have one of the best in the league. Other than at LB obviously.

    Tentatively optimistic.

It's not a perfect window, but we've definitely done worst in the past.
Squad might be a little unbalanced but there's no question about it, we have some quality in there. I think with today's signings we are relying heavily on Stockley. Let's hope he stays fit
    Let's hope BP stays fit.

We've not overspent, or gone crazy. Some of our recruitment has been clever. Let's see where we are in January

I'm confused. I thought it was over already. Does this mean it's not over now?

If Crawley’s correct about the two late signings I’m more than happy with this window, and much more confident about our chances of promotion. And we have a decent squad without busting the bank, good work by the recruitment team and TS.
Whatever people are saying, Purrington/Gunter are NOT disastrous as left back cover, not by a long way, bearing in mind this is League One. And if Adkins and co think we need better we can still bring in a free agent.
Yes, Kirk has looked isolated, but he’s still bedding in, and with Lee and Arter, he’s going to get much better service than he has been getting up to now.
Leko could tear it up playing alongside Stockley, or out wide on the wing. And we have cover for Inniss/Elerewe which is no bad thing. And CBT will surprise us I reckon.
All is well. Windows are brilliant!

    Good window, good squad.
congrats Recruitment team, NA and TS.
    Automatic promotion here we come.

Why is this liked so much?
    Good window my arse
I think it is has now been a good window.
It hadn't been when the season started.
We are in the promotion race and anyone that thinks otherwise is simply unhappy for other reasons, nothing to do with Charlton. COYR & thanks to Thomas Sandgaard & the team.
Personally I think this view is massively skewed by us winning on Sat. Suspect you (and others) would be saying very different had we played bad on Sat and lost.

As an overall window I think it's been decent, not great. Most of the signings did strengthen their relative positions but that does throw into sharp relief the positions that haven't been strengthened at all.

I hope that we dip into the free agents to fill in a few gaps otherwise we're taking quite a gamble regarding fitness.

I actually want Lavelle and Famewo to develop the partnership as they are less injury prone than Ryan. It's very strong cover and less pressure on Ryan to force his body beyond what it's capable of. He absolutely has a part to play and a very strong option to have - but it's smart business. Also gives Deji Elerewe time to develop amongst his age group without being thrown in the deep end without armbands.
