Just for clarity as some people seem confused by the objectives of the protesters:
WE DEMAND
1
That the UK government immediately promises to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025;
2
That the UK government immediately promises to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and take responsibility for the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit , with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030 as part of a just transition to full decarbonisation of all parts of society and the economy.

Those 2 "demands" outlined above, would surely be much more easily achieved and in a more timely manner, by going directly to the powers-that-be, by lobbying parliament, organising an official online petition etc., rather than going through the public in such a wanky way.
No everything has to be protested or demonstrated for, for people to get your own way. Especially with the power of social media and the Internet as it is today.
I WANT £1m given to me, so I'll go and block the motorway at rush hour tomorrow. I'll probably get a thread on Charlton Life, and I'll even stick up what my "demand" is, but I won't ever get the money, or any sympathy for that matter8 -
I’d be prepared for it happening again tomorrow morning. Monday, Wednesday and likely Friday seems like the most obvious plan to these shit weasels0

Those two demands are fair and I agree with them but who's genius idea was it to piss a load of ordinary folk off by sitting on a moterway?! That person/persons should be pushed aside no matter how loud they protest.
Take it to the government. Take it to the companies. Take it to the high court so legislation can be made that the government have to respond to trying to fix insulation across this country.

Those demands - especially 2) are not only impractical but impossible to enforce.
My house - feck off with your insulation products
I'm allergic to any fibrous material and/or current insulation materials
I live in a Grade 1,2*,2,3 listed building
How do you insulate 13.5" solid brickwork without significantly decreasing the size of my property internally/ ruining it's appearance externally?
What additional ventilation do you provide to prevent interstitial condensation?
Who's going to extent/alter/adapt by internal services so they still operate and are serviceable?
Who is going to adapt my internal and external disabled adaptation so I can still enter, exit and get around my property?
I'm only the Leaseholder, you'll need to get serve notice on the freeholder. They live somewhere in Scotland, Nigeria, Brazil. Malaysia. Latvia, Pakistan, but I haven't a clue where.
My roof has been leased to my Solar Panel/PV energy supplier. You'll need to serve notice on them, but they went bust a couple of years ago and I've no idea who has the contract now.
Who is going to pay for 500k plus party wall agreements that may be required - and more importantly who's going to enforce them?
If any one of those protesters have considered all those issues - and without others that I can't roll of the top of my head - in their DEMANDS, then I'll wear one of @Henry Irving's cardigans for a month.
Who and what gives them the right to demand something? I demand their punishment is to dip their head in a bucket of pig shit for 30 seconds.13 -

So all the job dodging, benefit claiming protesters yesterday can get their council gaff all warm and toasty for free.3 -
No time for them who hold the general public in effect "hostage" on the M25, whilst making unrealistic "demands" of the government....total idealism gone mad..2
-
All Social Housing should be let with the current up to date insulation standards.
Whenever a property comes up for re-letting the provider should ensure this work is carried out as they would a gas or electrical check.
No excuses.0 -
I've read too many instances of people missing cancer treatment etc to have any sort of sympathy for these tree hugging arseholes and their cause. Cannot believe that the police dont just drag them off the road and nick them immediately.4
-
Isn’t that what they do?0

Yes. But the very difficult target of 2025 is impractical.
And again, you're not thinking about the 100 of thousands of shared ownership properties or those built recently but before the current Building Regulations Approved Document L1b which improved the U value requirements 10 years ago.
Current regs are being reviewed, so who knows what the new requirements may be.0 -

50 football fans doing this would get a fucking good kicking from the old bill.
50 tree hugging wankers get offered tea and toast.
I've been doing it wrong all me life11 - Sponsored links:

They didn't remove them for I believe a considerable time.
They were telling them not to worry they would be well looked after and they just had to ask if they needed anything.3 -
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of orchestrating protests that caused disruption on the M25.

No excuses.
But even with that has been completed most would still not comply with the current new build standards.
The process to make new regulations retrospective will take years.0 -

There are some people for whom I wonder what would be needed to stop them voting Tory. It's mind boggling.
Just vote Green. No protests needed.4 -

You're actually probably more right than you know... If you do know then you're a genocidal maniac.
If everyone on the planet stopped eating meat and fish the farmland made available wouldn't be big enough to feed the population.
In short you'd have to either cultivate more land for farming and thus destroy more green spaces or watch the population shrink as a result of starvation because current farmland cannot provide for those that mixed varied diet farming can.
Realistically you want more vegans and vegetarians for animal welfare purposes so you're dressing it up as for the environment.1 -

one of my old grads wrote his dissertation on new build or retro fit, shame it was 10 years ago and I can’t remember his conclusions0
