They out muscled us. I don't want to knock him as he is a great prospect but this was a game where Burstow was a liability and we were effectively playing with 10. He did not affect the game at all. But what it says is that he needs to go on loan, he is still a great prospect. I would like to see him learn the ugly side of the game somewhere.

We are staying up say we are staying up.  Absolute lions to a man to come back and save that.  Heroes.
I really hope your tounge in cheek….. Hero’s….. fuck me if none of them ever played again I wouldn’t be bothered.

Another game played with a formation that doesn't suit the players on the pitch at all.

We have zero true wing backs in the squad, why are we playing a formation that requires them?
We know that this squad was built to play 4231 …

Awful performance, but love a late equaliser.

Lee, Leko, Clare all had poor games. Any talk of signing Lee or Leko permanently needs to be squashed.

Cheltenham will feel hard done by, thought they moved it around nicely and we're rarely troubled by us.

Hopefully that ends whatever this slump is, but I have my doubts.

Genuinely still cackling. We deserved -1 points for that. After all the times this had happened to us in the last few years, it's nice to know what it feels like. And it feels...so dumb.

The real winner today was the black kits. They are ace.

Just a shame Sean Clare thought we were playing in red during the first half!

Another fucked up season thanks to the people behind the scenes not getting their arses in gear before the season started.
How can this still be an excuse? We are in January and still shit

Thought we were devoid of ideas and couldn’t break them down. Too many poor passes today. Not a game for Burstow IMO. Still don’t think we should play 3-5-2 away from home as teams have sussed us out. Chuks played 90 and looked dangerous. Would like to see Washington play off him.
  • 5 positives=
We didn't lose although we deserved to
We got a point we didn't deserve
    Chucks scored on his debut
Best of all chuks lasted 95 mins
We scored in front of the travelling fans(if they hadn't all left by the 94th minute)to create absolute scenes

This could be a massive point .. boys kept going and battled right to the end …. if you look at it 3 errors by Henderson this week as cost us .. cheated  goal at Crewe cost us , and of course the loss of both Stockley and Washington when they were both on fire all gone against us .. so to show that character today was excellent ….

But I blame McG wife fir giving birth this week because with McG in goal we would have won both games
  • Again, I can’t really see evidence of players not caring which many others seem to see. Again they tried, and like last game, kept trying to the final whistle - this time earning us a point.

I think it’s justified to claim they are not good enough, though I’m not sure they are this bad. However I think our issues are far more deep set then their ‘application’ on the field.

I don’t feel like it’s the players that see us repeating the same patterns of play that see is pass the ball around the back, get caught on the byline, switch it back across the back, get caught on the other byline and then either have to kick it long or make a mistake and lose it.

Thats been going on since Robinson was coach.

Still building so going to be poor?
Eg cant play 5 3 2 with no wing backs on the club books or a ball playing centre half or two solid midfielders alongside Dobson. (Missing goalscorer solved?)

Bad performance made worse being surrounded by foul mouth pikies who celebrate  a 94th minute equaliser at Cheltenham like a World Cup Winner.
Clare and Inniss as bad as it gets. Bloody Awful. Need to part company with this lot asap .

To make a more serious assessment: this is exactly why you push the boat out in terms of fee and wages for Chuks Aneke in League One: because he can make something out of nothing. And he scores goals.

Imagine if we'd had Burstow and Leko up front again today.

I think Jacko's assessment was good and honest. We didn't deserve anything today. But we probably have in recent weeks. And it's nice that the pendulum swung back our way.

That said, there are lots of problems. We looked completely disorganized out of possession. There were huge gaps between our lines. We didn't press. We were awful in possession. Clare and Lee need a rest. Jacko needs to spend the week working on shape in and out of possession. We've basically regressed to somewhere similar to where we were under Adkins, and we need to go back to basics.

I think changing the formation should be seriously considered. But we've seen this team perform well in this formation. And sometimes changing shape is a way of side stepping larger, more difficult to fix issues around tactical discipline.

If we keep the 3-5-2 I think Purrington needs to come back in at LWB, even if he hasn't been at his best in recent weeks. We just don't have any better options on the left. Leko needs to start at RWB. He's inconsistent, but he has the highest upside of our attacking options on that side. We miss Gilbey's running when he's not in the side, even if he's another one who has been off in recent weeks. He's a one man engine room.

And we need to get the ball down and play. We have a team full of technically gifted but not physically imposing players. This lumping it into channels is madness. You have to feel for Burstow today, he got absolutely nothing.

We're going to learn a lot about Jacko as a manager in the next seven days. What you do once teams figure out your plan A is what separates good managers from the rest. He's a good man, and I suspect a good man manager, but we're about to find out how smart he is tactically.

After being one of our best performers under Jacko, he was awful today. And it's absolutely fitting that he puts in a very good ball from the LB spot (for some reason) that leads to our goal.

I love Leko but he doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the starting line up after his performances this week.

I kind of agree but between DJ, CBT, Matthews, and Leko, who does deserve that RWB shirt? I mean arguably no one. My thinking is Leko at least has a moment of magic going forward that the others don't, even if some of the others are more consistent.

Only positives today were that we sold out our ticket allocation, that Innis & Aneke managed to play a full game and we managed to score a goal to avoid a defeat.

Big negatives were the terrible performances of Henderson, Clare, DJ, Leko, CB-T and Lee. Of today’s & recent performances Henderson, Leko and Lee don’t deserve to have contracts with us next season.

DJ & CB- T don’t even look interested in playing for the team.

Don’t know what’s gone wrong within the camp but Jacko needs a big clear out of the squad and bring in new players.

I agree thought CBT was better when he came on…..just. Lee is nice on the ball at times but has no athleticism or physicality so needs a rest. I was unsure about Chuks signing but he is just what we need right now.

When does a draw seem like a win...today, whether it was deserved or not is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, 90+4.. :D ..that always seems to happen to us, so it is nice to dish it out this time, and of course...THE BEAST is back with a goal and  completes 95 minutes, so 1 point, not great but better than nowt...on we go, and well done you traveling Addicks, safe journey home..

No I wasn't being serious about nicking a point against  the mighty Cheltenham to move us 6 points clear of game in hand morecambe. We're appalling in terms of consistency and going nowhere fast without significant rebuilding in pretty much every area of the team.

If these players love Jacko and really want him to be the manager I would hate to see them playing for someone they don't like.

This week has been no better than us under Adkins nor in the 4 months of hell under Bowyer when he was c***ing them out every week.

None of them do. If we continue to play this formation, we need to bring a RWB in.
I don't necessarily disagree, but if we do that we would have Leko, CBT, Kirk, and DJ, plus Gunter and Matthews, all wingers or fullbacks, in a formation that doesn't utilize any of them as first choice.

I know that we're largely already there, but it shows a real lack of joined up thinking between management and recruitment. This is a team that was constructed to play 4-3-3/4-2-3-1. That is, everywhere except the central striker role, where we don't have a forward who plays well on his own (though Aneke, who joined yesterday, can do that, but relying on him week in and week out is not a great idea).

So when Adkins is fired, Jacko comes in and has to find a formation that utilizes both our glut of wingers, and plays two up front. Playing a 4-4-2 with two out and out wingers is very risky in this day and age as you're often outnumbered in the middle of the pitch. So to be fair to Jacko, I think he has found a formation that provides some balance to our unbalanced squad. The problem is, it's still an unbalanced squad.

And that's before we get into the fact that we basically have three players (Pearce, Iniss, and Lavelle) for the central CB role because they lack mobility and technical ability to play in the sides of a three, one for the LCB role, and then a litany for the RCB, none of whom are natural CBs.

I think we've got some good players for League One. I just don't think they've been arranged and recruited to fit a system. Instead it's been more a case of short term thinking and getting the best available player, and not getting the best available player for a larger system and set up.

Kirk is the ultimate example of this. He's a good player in a certain role. But that role is LW with an attacking, overlapping LB. And we don't have an attacking, overlapping LB. So what was the thinking there? When we recruited him we had Gunter playing LB, and Purrington to come back. Purrington is not the type to get outside the wingers, get to the byline and cross. He likes to drift inside and get into the box. His crossing is mediocre.
