Showed Gilbey and Lee up today based on their recent performance - Albie still needs to show a lot of consistency. But still feel that both Alex and Elliot get away with murder compared with Albie, simply because the latter cant be given any special treatment because he came through the Academy.
Dont get me wrong, there were moments from Morgan which werent good enough (that moment at CDM where he almost let them through on half way, was horrendous) - But still feel his display today was better than anything we've seen from half our midfield (this calendar year).
We can talk about finding a Midfielder that'll create chances, but to do that, we also need other players to actually try and move, and pull the opposition around - Too often our forward players give us a decent rendition of musical statutes.
Ball gets brought forward, we look for an option - Everyone hides so ball goes backwards
'Moments from Morgan which weren't good enough' - I.e. The first 3 months of the season and several moments during this game.
As I've said, once again, the focus turns to Albie Morgan rather than anyone else in the team who wasnt good enough today - Its almost as though he's an Academy player, he cant receive ANY positive comments after a performance.4 -
I’m not his biggest fan and had streaming issues first half but from what I saw of him second period he deserved credit where credit is due today.7

Yet again claiming an agenda when there is none. He's a bad player in a sea of bad players.
Dont worry am sure you'll just continue to lol! my postsSELR_addicks said:ForeverAddickted said:ElliotCAFC said:ForeverAddickted said:SELR_addicks said:ForeverAddickted said:Did well today

If that is a 'good performance' I would love to see what a bad one is.
Showed some effort but is a League Two footballer.

He's been given tonnes of 7s on the player marks even though no one deserves over a 6 for that performance. He gets overrated.
'Performances like today' = One of the worst Charlton performances I've ever seen, where Morgan running about a bit but creating nothing is worth shouting about according to you. We had zero control over the midfield and he is supposed to be a major part of that.0 -

But I still feel we need better to get out of this division.
Well done for today though Albie.3 -

I read some the crap that is written about Albie and I wonder if these people have ever played in a game of football in their lives.

Saying he was one of the better players today (which he was) is not particularly high praise given the average level of performance.
It might be fairer to say he was one of the least bad.1 -

I think Albie should be a bare minimum 20-30 mins a game substitute as his peers aren't any better at the moment and seem to burn out with at least 30 mins to play.4 -

Don’t often get round to player marks but think I will today. Albie the best of a pretty poor bunch.3

Earn each game as it comes based on training and game situations, not just one or the other.1 -

Also he's playing for Jackson now so hopefully will be developing more to how Jacko wants him and not how Adkins tried to mould him.3 -

That approach slightly reminds me of Karlan Grant's development, would get the odd 10min cameo and was written off because he didnt have any time to do anything - When he finally got the opportunity he flourished.
Job of a Striker is simplified like a Goalkeeper where targets are easy - For a midfielder like Albie its harder, if players don't show for the ball then its almost impossible to create for them.2 -

86 appearance Morgan hasn't been given enough opportunities. Heard it all now.2

Your argument is astoundingly good.
He's probably had 30 good performances in there and maybe 30 bad performances. The remaining almost 30 he's been about the level a 20/21/22 year old is expected to be when their ceiling is probably this level.0 -

Currently he is a League Two level player because of his lack of disclipine and intelligence when on the pitch. We shouldn't be wanting to give him opportunities when we want to be higher up the division and challenging for promotion.
Give him a loan out and get a player in that shows more promise than a Lower League One ceiling.1 -

2021-22: He's started all eight games that he's played, run of starting in six matches
2020-21: Started 14-games | Subbed on in 14-games, run of starting in four matches
2019-20: Started 11-games | Subbed on in 10-games; run of starting in three matches
2018-19: Stated 6-games | Subbed on in 2-games; run of starting in three matches0 -

Personally I think he will find his progression occurs at another club, just needs to improve that intelligence which is admittedly a big ask.1 -

Neither Lapslie or Wiredu overly impressed when given opportunities with the First Team (Although their chances were even more fleeting than Albie's), yet since they've left, there have been questions as to why they were let go.4 -

Are they playing at their ceiling level now, or do they have potential to push on after a set back like what we've seen from Joe Pigott - Lapslie certainly hasn't shown the sort of stats that he showed last season with Mansfield, so its sadly looking like the correct decision to let him move on.
Its for the reason he's in League Two (and in a relegation fight) that makes me question why Brendan Wiredu would remotely be the answer to any of our problems at the moment either.0 -
I think Lapslie has shown more in Charlton colours than Morgan ever has.
For what it's worth I wouldn't have any of them back though.2
