Stephen Henderson
Darren Randolph
Seems we tend to do better in the goalkeepers more than any other position.0 -
Oggy Red said:Bostonaddick said:Fraser was excellent last year. The previous two years for Burton he was a decent midfielder but no where near the level of play from last year. So was last year the anomaly and has reverted back to his actual quality or was Ipswich just not a good fit
When we played them at home, Fraser was allowed to play and MKD took the points.
Playing them away, Bowyer asked Pratley to go everywhere with Fraser and to close him out of the game. MKD couldn't function and Charlton won the game.
That's the problem when the gameplan relies on one player as the fulcrum.
Right now, we certainly don't although Dobson is getting there.2 -

Clem_Snide said:If we were top half Premier League and Chelsea came after Burstow he would go. If they come now he will go. Money and opportunity talk in this game. If at 18 they wave 10-12k a week under his nose, incentives for his parents etc etc then who can blame him for moving on?And I bet Abramovich hasn’t written his own song.3

I will be absolutely gutted if he goes.
You think he'd have been better off staying at Charlton? 82 appearances in the PL, 22 in the Bundesliga by the age of 24?
Paul Went had played 50 for Leyton Orient by the time he was 17 and came to Charlton.
Alan Campbell had played 198 games by the time he was 21 !
Likewise Mike Bailey 151 by the time he was 24, Lennie Glover 177 by the age of 24.
All youth products , mostly ours . They'll had long careers too.
82 by the cage of 24 is part time football really.
And you're not adding things up.
82 in the PL, 22 in the Bundesliga and 45 games for us. 150 in total. 25 appearances per season on average since his breakthrough is pretty good.7 -

Can't be arsed if Burstow goes. Valley Gold membership each season to buy players that we get to see for a few months if they are half decent and have potential at playing at the higher level and they leave.
If that is our business model now and we are now a Crewe or Peterborough then so be it but I won't be forking out for it each season if players are just going to be sell on commodities. Not even worth having the VG priority tickets when we're not in the same league as millwall or palace as we are shite in the cup in both results and draws.
All our decent prospects end up going to Championship or Premier league clubs to bolster their sides. We don't have the resources and/ or ambition to keep hold of them and perhaps build a team that will progress us up the leagues.
We used to beat Chelsea and Spurs who now use us as loan recipients to develop their abundance of youngsters to be resold at profit or rehab their injured players.
Fed up with it all really. I accept that it's the reality of the modern game but it's shite and makes me wonder what the point of it is as the "one day" optimism and hope that keeps us turning up every week seems even more futile with each passing season.
Seeing the future stars of the premier league for 5 minutes before they're off down the road to villa or whoever doesn't cut it.

If the deal is the right price, you wouldn't say no of course. But it's clear Ipswich aren't going to sell on the cheap.5 -

We didn't go for a lot of people because we thought we could get other ones.
Then we waited for clubs like Crewe, Gillingham and others to fold. They didn't. We panicked.

`I know Fraser hasn't pulled up trees for Ipswich this season, but he was my number 1 target I wanted us to get last season, along with Camara from Plymouth, as he was outstanding for MK Dons last season so it is definitely a yes from me if we can get him.
Ipswich bought so many players over the summer, not all were going to work. We can get Piggott off them too as he doesn't seem to be getting any game time.6 -

Whatever happened to that Wigan midfielder we were after last summer - the one it was said failed a medical here?

I like Fraser but we really seem to have a thing about signing players who do well against us.
And that is a very bad barometer, because we are bloody easy to play well against!7 -

I heard our Meds team are worried about a drop off in client numbers.

Viv Solomon-Otabar- dodgy knee, so no thanks. With tighter squad restrictions coming in next year, we need to give greater importance to recruiting players that can last a season.1
