Oh no, wait, seen the other threads we´re getting 9 goal Marquis in. Nice.
One tweet from a fake journo with 4 followers, but do continue to bed wet over it.

Getting rid of Washington shows intent for me.
Replacing him with someone better will, asking Davison to step up won't.  That's the real measure.

Innis staying I cannot understand.  He'll get injured again and play 15 games.
According to Sporting salaries website he's on low wages, maybe thats the explanation, Agree re injuries

Missed so many 1 on 1's, did he score any of them>
My best recollection is he scored three and missed a dozen or more.
I think hardly anyone expected him to score when clean through.
I have to say I never stood up, like I would if anyone else was one on one with the goalie.

Our fanbase is more toxic than the dressing room was purported to be, and that's saying something.

Youre right, completley forgot about that tbh.

    I´ll stop bed wetting!

  • Washington offered something different.
Who knows, if we had a midfielder with vision maybe we could have made even more of his movement and runs.
That said, his lack of real belief in one-on-one situations could be hugely frustrating.
Would much rather have kept him and binned Davison.
We need to replace with equivalent or better

    It's hardly toxic.

Pretty big assumption that we're going to get a better replacement.

This. Seriously doubt Conor wanted to stay to be on the bench. It's all about the replacement. Defence was a bigger issue, but we missed too many chances last season. I'd be disappointed to go into next season with the same front line we finished this one with. I admired his work ethic, but that was a crumb of positivity to cling to in a desperate team. We need more for promotion.

Exactly, absolutely no one is devastated we've lost our first choice forward Connor Washington, because he never was - he was by default only really - we already needed golfies favourite 20+ a season man.

Now ideally we need to find the 3rd/ 4th choice that's better than Washington as well. Not for definite he would have stayed but to not bother at least trying is, meh. Especially if his replacement is Josh Davison.

Gutted Conor has been released but it’s a clear sign we are moving a different direction, hopefully a positive move although feels negative right now.

I'm so much happier to see Charlton show faith in flawed, monstrous masters like Inniss than hard-working ineffectual drones like Washington. We want to be dominant, we want players who dominate and create decisive moments
Yeah I agree, but he’s hardly out of the physios room!

If we don’t replace Conor we’re in trouble (ie like Chuks last season).

I really really hope they’ve got some decent players lined up and definite because Washington was a very good player

Going by his Wiki he should be...

On 3 January 2020, May signed for Cheltenham Town on a two-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee

He's right. Championship interest though. Local lad so could appeal.

    This season…

Washington started 28 games. We picked up 47 points from those games.

Washington didn’t start 18 games. We picked up 12 points from those games.

It’s a mistake letting him go.

This is the key, for me. He wasnt the most prolific striker, although still not bad, but his contribution to the team was much more than just goals. It will be easy to replace him with someone more expensive and less good for the team.
  • If we get a replacement as good or better then I'll be impressed but not sure how likely that is.

Should have spent summer working with him on his finishing. He offered a lot beyond goals in terms of his pace threatening the oppo defence and I really liked his character and commitment. Would have be my poty along with Dobson.

Disappointed but hopefully better or as good on the way.

A likeable player in many ways, not least of all for his 100% effort.
Unfortunately, he will also be remembered for an alarmingly consistent number of glaring misses.
Championship standard for sure, that is until he is free in the box with the goal beckoning.
    Good luck Conor…….you deserve it.
