I'd be well happy with Heineken or Morretti!Vincenzo said:That has to be the worst beer line up imaginable.Agreed .I’m a shit drinker and probably the lowest form of connoisseur out there but Greenwich meantime I always thought was shit and a bit of en emperor’s new clothes cos it had a funky name ..
Generally, I dislike craft lager.
The most I can manage is about 5 pints

I hadn't appreciated that Deuchers is a Heineken brand, although at least the club did introduce some cask ale in a barrel, rather than expecting beer drinkers to imbibe the John Smith's keg.SporadicAddick said:
I don't think the club has made an effort. Deuchers is a Heineken UK brand... so the same source as all other beers in the ground...Blucher said:It's not necessarily practical on all the concourses, although we did have the late, lamented East Stand Real Ale Bar, but it would be great to get some really good beer in the North Stand Fans Bar (and in Bartram's for that matter). Credit where it's due, the club have made an effort and usually get a barrel of something like Deuchers in from the Caledonian Brewery, but I wondered if some deal could be struck with The River Ale House.
It is the 2022 South East London CAMRA Pub of the Year (and the Cider Pub of The Year), is located very nearby on the Woolwich Road and the owner, Trevor, is a Charlton supporter, who I know would be interested in some sort of arrangement. They really do source some cracking local beers.2 -
I don’t care how much they are charging for a pint of carlsburg down at the den, I ain’t going!Karim_myBagheri said:Apparently DOWN THE DEN they are charging 6.20 for a pint of carlsburg.2 -
12 pints? do you actually watch the game, from the toilet maybe?Southendaddick said:Surely unless your corporate food and drink at football isn’t that important
If you’re getting pissed you’ll be in the pub till 2.58 and then just want a pint or two at HT
Food at football always has been and always will be shite, it mops up the 12 pints on an all dayer or keeps the kids happy
It’s like grown adults moaning about the kit, never get it
Having said that Fosters is horrible1 -
Last season they had a fan chosen Ale from a barrel in the fans bar.
Anyone know if the idea is still on?0 -
Right thats it close thread. Southendaddick has spoken. Drink 12 pints and then you won’t care about what you eat. Sorted.Southendaddick said:Surely unless your corporate food and drink at football isn’t that important

So last season we had a fan nominated Real Ale barrel in the north stand fans bar. The system worked ok imo, can remember Landlord ale as a highlight and my nomination of Doombar. However they brought in Deuchers in a barrel as a fixture, very bland imo ( part of the Heineken stable I believe). Late in the season it was discontinued, I switched to bottled deuchers- poor substitute.Blucher said:It's not necessarily practical on all the concourses, although we did have the late, lamented East Stand Real Ale Bar, but it would be great to get some really good beer in the North Stand Fans Bar (and in Bartram's for that matter). Ive emailed the caterer’Gather &Gather’, yesterday, asking for the Real Ale barrel to be reinstated this season.
Awaiting answer.3 -
Let's hope you get a positive response @Addictedoldgit.
I don't know what flexibility, if any, the current contractual arrangements allow in terms of beer choice but maybe it's something that could usefully be clarified at the first Fans’ Forum meeting of the season on Thursday, September 15th. The revival of the East Stand Real Ale bar would also be welcome.0 -
Just had a reply from a Richard Craig, G &G general manager - stadia & special events.
”We are currently negotiating this years contract with the brewery so once it’s sorted I’d be happy to run some form of promotion/offer to let fans pick the real ale for fans bar each game.
Lets get the first few games up and running and then I’ll investigate this “
The Gather & Gather manager I was communicating with last season has left the company; also a lot of Charlton’s admin staff have left.
So it could be a case of reinventing the wheel.
Next communication I must remember the East stand real Ale bar.5
