If I’m the owner, of a loss making business, I’m sure as hell not spending my money on a 28 year old who for all intense purposes has had one good season, and who flops, you’ve got no chance of making any of your money back.
Id much rather be spending that on someone younger who can develop, and if they do have a poor season for you (*cough* Kirk *cough*), there’s a chance you can recoup some of your outlay.
Are you willing to take the risk on Stockton?1 -
If I was taking a risk on a hot season last year, it’s McKirdy, knows the manager, has a decent pedigree from Villa, and can finish. If he flops, you might get your money back

The risk is what makes it doable for us financially. The reward is that he has attributes we are crying out for.0

The other thing I feel itchy on Stockton, is he’s never really played outside the North West, and your expecting him to settle in London. Gets all a bit Andy Gray for me18

Last time I looked we were in the lower leagues!2

Tyreece Simpson is the one I have my eye on. Problem is, I think Ipswich won’t want to let him go to a team in their league.8

But for me he offers far less of a risk both in terms of ability and financial then Stockton would.0 - Sponsored links:

McKirdy had his "breakthrough" season in L2, there's no guarantee he can step up and be as dangerous. That makes him MORE of a risk than Stockton, who not only did it in L1, he did it in a poor L1 team.2

Stockton for me. As people mentioned he was a terror at the Valley last season and could really add something to this team.
Technically good, last couple of seasons he has had a decent goal scoring record in this league in an average team..the way we are playing and how we are set up, he could do really well.3 -

I do watch all the highlights every week and all the live games.0 -

When the ball playing snowflakes go missing, or when some oaf scores an own goal in the first few minutes of a play off final, you need someone with balls to step up to the plate.
And fwiw he was a tidy footballer at his best.1 -
If Rotherham are interested, I would imagine he would go there. It would be a no-brainier for the lad. They are a championship side who despatched Reading 4-0 today, he could stay in the north of the country, and no doubt Rotherham could and would beat us on a salary package.
It’s difficult to come up with any pros why he might come to us, sadly only cons. Our football this year may be much easier on the eye, but the sad truth is that there are several other teams who are superior to us in most of the departments that matter.1 - Sponsored links:

Have we actually been linked with Simpson?2

I’d rather Simpson over Stockton. Would take either at the point though.1

I don’t believe we are in for Stockton.
He’s the same type as Stockley.
Not sure there’s much credibility to the story when we haven’t paid a fee for any of our players.

After 2 first team friendlies against league teams, 3 league games and 1 cup game we have scored 4 goals from open play, and one of them from the youth team. Those of us who have been saying for several months that there are not enough goals in this squad have now been publicly joined by Curbs and Brownie.
All down to the owner now to make a season of it.4 -

Would have to be somebody or sombodies who meets the shortfall. Proven or unproven. Ideally proven but that won't be easy but we need to try to sort this issue out as it is very likely to cost us and as people have said, there are a lot of positives around how we are playing to the point that doing nothing would almost be criminal.0
