A big move for Bloomfield, who's been at Wycombe as player and coach since 2003.clive said:League Two strugglers Colchester United have appointed Matt Bloomfield as their new head coach, replacing Wayne Brown.
The 38-year-old has left his role as Wycombe's first-team coach to take his first managerial job with the U's.
He's from Suffolk, so that might be a factor too, though you imagine that if he does well he'd love to return to Wycombe if Ainsworth leaves0 -
close, Colchester is in Essex, not Silly Serfeckkillerandflash said:

Merely pointing out that for someone who came through the ranks at Ipswich, that Colchester is very near home!3 -
Not a sacking, but interesting.

I wrote a "War and Peace" as to why Matt Taylor should be offered the job prior to Garner getting it and backed him with the bookies accordingly. I'm not inclined to blame Garner yet for the position we are in because he can only work with the tools he is given and with that in mind I'm not sure that Taylor would have done much better. But it will be good to see how Taylor does be it if he stays at Exeter and in comparison to us or if he takes the Rotherham job.

This has to be Bruce's last managerial job surely.killerandflash said:
Weird timing, to have a 2 week international break, and then sack your manager hours before your next game!clive said:Hull City have sacked head coach Shota Arveladze after a run of four successive defeats.
The decision was announced just hours before the Tigers play Luton Town, with Andy Dawson named interim head coach.

They've had a bad run of form, but with 11 points are above West Brom. How Bruce still has that job is a mystery
A 28% win record at Newcastle, and after yesterday he's now on 26% at West Brom.2 -

4th bottom in a big club on parachute payments in the Championship is appalling. I'm amazed he wasn't fired last night.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I made a bet with myself that Sean Dyche would 'soon' replace Bruce at WBA .. written somewhere on another postkillerandflash said:

Back to Sir Lennie in 1985. Since then 4 promotions (2 by Curbs) all overseen by ex players.1 -
Could see Dychey getting the Villa or Forest job i, although Gerrard seems to have turned a corner for the moment. Cooper could be gone shortly after all the money they spentLincsaddick said:

Bilic is a top quality Manager. Look at what happened to WBA when they panicked and sacked him. Relegated and his successors have now won 24 out of 86 matches since he left. They now sit in 21st place in the Championship with the dinosaur that is Steve Bruce in charge. They might have gone down under Bilic anyway but he had a proven record of promotion with them and like Burnley (Dyche) and Norwich (Farke) did when they stuck with their Managers, would have had a better chance of coming back up at the first time of asking.Henry Irving said:Slaven Bilic was contacted in the summer about the Charlton job.
True
So West Brom lose again under Bruce and are stuck in 21st place and only outside the relegation zone on goal difference. Watford, meanwhile, in their first game under Billic, are demolishing Stoke away 4-0 but it should be even more. You reap what you sow.1 -
Chris Wilder parted company with Boro.
Do we want another former player as manager at the Valley?0 -

I honestly expected Wilder to be a success at Boro and thought it was a very good appointment from Steve Gibson , but it just hasn't worked out at all. Will be interesting to see what direction they go next, press are linking Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil already1

Matt Taylor has become Rotherham's new Manager
Says it all about our problems, if he was a genuine target for Sandgaard, and opted to stay @ Exeter...2 -
I read (possibly on here) that he was the main target on paper but interviewed very poorly.ForeverAddickted said:Matt Taylor has become Rotherham's new Manager

Or more simply perhaps he couldn't resist testing himself at a higher level in the EFL. We could not offer that.ForeverAddickted said:Matt Taylor has become Rotherham's new Manager

Rotherham are a much safer club to go to, as well as being in the Championship, they've been stable and well run for several years now.Kips said:

I imagine the style of football expected is different too.2 -
I believe he was linked with Bournemouth job, but played it down. Can’t see him being out of a job for too long.killerandflash said:

Been a bit too rigid in sticking to a formation/way of playing that people have worked out, by all accounts.Henry Irving said:Chris Wilder parted company with Boro.

an example of another manager who had a few blinding years at a couple of clubs and then ran out of puff and ideas and never again looks to have any real prospect of success wherever he goes .. I am sure Sandy will resist the temptation to offer him our job when Garner is sackedNorth Lower Neil said:

Shows the value of getting a manager at the right time.Lincsaddick said:
