Match (+post p15) Thread: Colchester Utd v Charlton | Papa Johns | Tue 4th Oct 2022 7:45pm
My guess is that we will look something like this:
MacGillvray
Clare, Ness, Thomas, Chin
CBT, Morgan, Foster-Caskey, DJ
Kanu, Leaburn
Or Clayden may be left back and McGrandles may be in midfield, plus a bunch of youth team players on the bench.
On form that line-up should be good enough to beat Colchester.
On form....

Is the 6&5 rule still in place for this, where you had to start a certain amount of players in the match that will start in the game before or after the fixture?0

7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches.
Guidance
‘Full Available Strength’ means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.
7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.
7.5 First Team Fixture means the League Competition, Premier League, EFL Cup or FA Challenge Cup (but shall, in the context of Rules 7.4.3 and 7.4.4 only, also include this Competition).
7.6 Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

never have I been less interested in a Charlton game14

Mickey mouse cup, genuinely rather we didn't get to Wembley tbh.1
-
is it league stage or the knockout stage?0
-
One competition worth watching at the moment, dont care about the results - But it feels the Cup games, seeing Aaron Henry and the kids playing etc. is so much better than any of the League shit at the moment.
Imagine if we win we're pretty much guaranteed to be through to the next round7 -
Still the League stage, got this game and Brighton before the Knockout Roundsoohaahmortimer said:is it league stage or the knockout stage?1 -

I shall pay the ten quid and watch it, I always do mug that I am.
The 3-3 U21 game yesterday was a great watch if you like watching football.6 -
7 of my line-up have made 40+ appearances, 4 is the minimum needed, so we should be in the clear.stackitsteve said:sam3110 said:Is the 6&5 rule still in place for this, where you had to start a certain amount of players in the match that will start in the game before or after the fixture?7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches.

I think when you are looking for the right combination, this was a great opportunity to fiddle a bit with the side and try some things rather than change it all. Quite disapointed with him. It isn't as if we actually know who our best eleven are as well as the best way to set up. Let's have another first half on Saturday like Accrington and Oxford when were not at the races doing what we could have done today.0

In a league season already sliding into total apathy, has tonight’s pizza game ever felt or meant less?0

Yes! This game is just as important as every other pizza cup game! And it feels equally important! It's going to inspire us all to levels of attention and focus that only pizza cup games (and maybe U-21 pre-season games) can! now this could be a record all time low for a 'first team' game0

Quite shocking really considering the relative sizes of the clubs, that we have an equal number of wins in the fixture. You'd expect us to be well ahead1 -
Not to Millwall proportions but we never seem to do very well against them, they did the double on us in the 80-81 promotion season for example. Also remember Lisbie putting us to the sword when he played for them.killerandflash said:

Forgot we were even playing tonight…0

Usually I'd agree with you 100 per cent but today I dont.Valley11 said:In a league season already sliding into total apathy, has tonight’s pizza game ever felt or meant less?
Our chances of finishing in the top 2 are non-existant. Unless we find some form in our league games very quickly any outside chance of reaching the top 6 is remote.
If ever there was a season to take the cups seriously it is this one.
Not saying we should put out our first team tonight- far from it - but we should put a strong team out to make sure we qualify tonight.
Don't forget we were a couple of games away from Wembley last year in this competition until our players just couldn't be bothered to turn up at hartlepool last year. (Hard to forget Watsons abysmal effort to close a shot down that led to a goal)
A day out at Wembley in this competition is hardly what we are all dreaming off but it might do something to take some of the gloom away that is rapidly enveloping us.7 -
Agreed. I'm assuming the head to head games include FA cup/League cup & league. If so, to think 1of the 7 wins included the FA cup win at their old ground. Which was the luckiest cup win I have seen us have (0-1) 1984 I think.killerandflash said:

I'd like to see the late experiment from the Oxford game of playing DJ as the second striker alongside a big centre forward, presumably Leaburn.
Kanu started yesterday so can't see him starting again but with luck will come off the bench.
Terrel Thomas should be the latest V number added to the list and I hope CBT has a point to prove.
The demolishing of Gillingham and the win over QPR have been some of the rare positives this season so hoping for more of the same tonight in the minor cups.6 -
And with money clearly being an issue at the moment, and in the EFL and FA Cup a lucrative away tie would do very nicely, both for the money and giving us something to look forward to, from another 1-1 draw in the league.Fortune 82nd Minute said:
