She needs to build her ranking points outside of slams over the next 4-5 months and aim to get a seed for Wimbledon. That way she’ll avoid the top players until at least round 3.DamoNorthStand said:Problem is the crash she has had since winning the US Open has hammered her ranking - so it is very difficult to build confidence and momentum up again when you are playing top players in round 2 of slams.3 -
The endless injuries have meant she's failed to compete properly in all the other events between the Grand Slams. If she's fit, I'm sure she'll start getting some decent runs in those events, bringing her ranking back up to where it should be.Callumcafc said:

Pleased Emma managed to finished the match and competed so well.
They can never take the US slam away from Raducanu but bizarrely and sadly it may be the only slam of her career if she has constant injuries and her game doesn't have time to develop.
Emma definitely needs to keep a coach for longer than one slam.

Dan Evans into round 3 following a straight sets win over Jeremy Chardy.
Murray v Kokkinakis later.0 -
Second seed Casper Ruud currently 6-3 7-5 4-2 behind against Jenson Brooksby. This is in Murray’s section of the draw so potentially very good news for Andy…1

It could be the only tournament she ever wins, let alone a slam. It's remarkable really.soapboxsam said:Pleased Emma managed to finished the match and competed so well.

Her winning that grand slam as a qualifier and without dropping a set will take some beating as the greatest sporting achievement ever.Cafc43v3r said:

In my life lifetime i'd say only Leicester winning the PL comes close.1 -
Thank you for the updates Callum.
Just started the Netflix series ‘Break Point’ a behind the scenes look at tennis through the eyes of some of the players who are following on from the big 3.3 -
Never seen a player have so many injuries and niggles that apparently disappear 15 mins later as Djokovic.2

Started watching Break Point yesterday, Krygios is possibly one of the biggest marmite characters in sport but I couldn't help being happy for him winning the doubles with Kokkinakis2
-
agree, i haven't really been a fan of him but watching breaking point, i feel i get him more now and also he is good for the sport. Shame he withdrew from his home majorMarcusH26 said:Started watching Break Point yesterday, Krygios is possibly one of the biggest marmite characters in sport but I couldn't help being happy for him winning the doubles with Kokkinakis2 -
Thank fuck... Murray rescues break point to stay in the 2nd set
Right when Kokky had the chance to serve for the set - Andy finally showed up that last game0 -
Kokkinakis playing the best tennis of his career. So frustrating lol1

He is in good form coming into the tournament - too many underestimate him.Callumcafc said:Kokkinakis playing the best tennis of his career. So frustrating lol
Beat Rublev in Adelaide.2 -
Got a feeling Murray is done today - Its a shame that he's a shadow of his former self... But also nice that he's able to still play, and because he enjoys it, else he surely wouldn't be still out there.0

Got to give his opponent a lot of credit. He can go very deep into this tournament if he can maintain this performance level.ForeverAddickted said:Got a feeling Murray is done today - Its a shame that he's a shadow of his former self... He’s always had this talent but what you typically see with players outside the top 100 is they can do it for a set a maybe a little bit extra but they can’t maintain it through a whole match. He’s defying that right now.1 -
OH WOW... THE POINT... THE BREAK MURRAY HAS JUST WON!!!0
-
Unbelievable point to win the break back for Andy Murray, wow. That was rolling back the years.1

If Murray can keep this up, Kokky may get a bit too emotional here1

Think that's what you've got to hope for is a bit of home crowd pressure and he starts to crack like his best mate does.2 -
Murray doesn’t know when he’s beaten. Broken back twice in this third set and level at 5-5.1

This is what has set the top four aside from the rest for god knows how longCallumcafc said:Murray doesn’t know when he’s beaten. Broken back twice in this third set and level at 5-5.

GETTIN... Go on you British Legend0

Is this match seriously finishing tonight if we go the distance?0

Amazing resilience on show. If you’re not watching, try to flick it on. Both men playing like this is a quarter-final / semi-final epic, not a second round match between unseeded players.3
