I was so so happy when we signed Penny.
Having  a proper left back playing at left back.
Having seen him a couple of times I think I could do a better job.
    I'm 67 by the way
Have you got any boots, and available Tuesday.. ;)
Unfortunately I shall be in Egypt on holiday.
    Otherwise yes.

Nopé because he thought he was blocking a possible shoť.

I appreciate most people weren’t watching on Charlton TV, but Inniss isnt getting fair treatment tonight. And certainly not by the officials. I thought he’d been decent by his recent standards,  looks like Holden has told him to keep it simple. As for the red, I couldn’t beleive what I was watching. Ref was without question getting advice through his earpiece, having apparently decided not to even give a card. That’s exactly what Curbs and Brownie thought too. And you know what’s really worrying? Even they, professionals talking to active fellow pros all the time, didn’t know who he would be talking to. The lino? As they pointed out, lino was on the far side and had a worse view than the ref. Which leaves the 4th official.

So here’s the question. Can anyone state with 100% confidence what he duties of a 4th official are at a League 1 game?

That decision needs to be overturnsd pdq. It obviously wasnt a red card tackle as Brownie said, in which case its last man, but as the video shows the Fleetwood player was heading away from goal, and Ness was in position to cover if he’d evaded Inniss.

Look this could happen to any team but the intransparency pisses me off big time, and its about time we customers were told what 4th officials do. Do they, for example decide on the amount of injury time? Do they “assist” the ref with decision making? If so how? Only if the ref asks for help? I mean I can remember Jacko doing his nut to 4th officials for fouls given right under the guy’s nose, and all he got was a yellow card.

The rest was shite, per above. And we managed to injure Miles in training. Brilliant. We’d have won that if he’d been available.
  • AMB very poor today I thought.

Innis on this occasion a little unlucky to be sent off.

    Bonne was anonymous.

Penney not a step up from what we had before.

Fraser looked like he was injured towards the end. Might miss the next game.

However, Ness for me is  a star. For someone with relative inexperience he looks very competent and comfortable. If he keeps this up he will be poached I am sure.

The same problem which existed at the beginning of the season continues. Bonne has got miles worse from the championship days. Leaburn has surpassed him and must start when available.

Didn’t do enough to win today. We are mid table for a reason.

Holden’s small squad will be tested when we are already two down from today squad. Sess must start whenever possible.

Dreadful match, made worse by the constant stoppages. Felt the physios (and the Deliveroo lady) spent as much time on the pitch as some of the players. Not a good advert for professional sport.

On the playing front...it looked like two League Two teams. The standard was grim.
  • Bit of a shocker that one for me.
  • You get what you pay for in life & as we don't want to pay for players then we get shit. Loads on here said in the summer & again last month that failing to construt a proper squad means you will struggle. Holden the saviour...???  Thanks to him we now dont have proper cover for the injured full backs & the suspended CH. And then swapped one non goalscoring forward for another. Oh for the days of Killer, Super Clive or Darren Bent.

Game was proper poo. Can't believe fans cheering at half time just because we scored in injury time. Said it would end like Bolton & I was right. I even predicted 1-2 on the preview thread. But apparently I dont know what I'm talking about. Sky know their facts though. Its now 33 games......and that's under 3 different managers. I'll only praise a manager when they get that hoodoo off our back. I expect Holden to be scuttling off after his chums soon anyway so I wont have to wait long before manager no 4 has a go of turning around a 1 goal deficit.

Wont be going much anymore. Will go Saturday week as I want to see the Champions elect but after that I'll rather put pins in my eyes. Never seen such crap down The Valley in my 50 years supporting the club.
How sure are you that fewer players/a smaller squad was what the gaffer wanted or what those cutting our resources to the bone in the name of the so called money men were doing regardless of his wishes ?

I could be wrong but I'm clear on my version of this issue....

At the game, we looked good in first 10 mins, but then after that it was woeful!
Far to many players were shit, bright sparks for me were JRS, but even he decided on too many occasions to try and beat the whole of their defence on his own and invariably lost the ball, Kilkenney until he faded in 2nd half and Ness.
Penney, who I thought last week played well, was dire today, CBT again too many wrong decisions, Fraser and Dobbo didn't seem to grab midfield, we just seemed so lackluster.
I said to one of my mates who I was with, "I wonder if the squad knows that DH is off?"
I've not listened to DH interviews yet, but is he deciding to leave? I hope not as with TS still in charge we could be looking over our shoulder again!

I’m really surprised that no one has any praise for Clare, who I thought had a very good game today. He provided the few rays of light in an otherwise very poor game.

    Penney is two bob
Think you're getting your decimalisation muddled up mate - 2 Bob is 24 pennies! 😂
  • So, Bonne is garbage. Who would have thought that?  He is a park footballer who occasionally has a run of goal scoring form.  Shows absolutely nothing if he doesn't score and he doesn't score enough for that luxury.

No one played well today. Thanks to Fleetwood’s time wasting in the first half we got back into it but after that it was poor. Free header from the corner.

Bonne has not scored a league goal since January 2022 and that shows.

Penney was on a par with Tom Hovi
    from back in 1995.

Inniss was unlucky with the red. Was only a couple of minutes after getting his head bandaged up. Yellow at best but if he does not get off that’s a 5 game ban.

Only Ness out of the back 4 may be available for Tuesday night, but after the end of the window, some of us said we was a suspension and a couple of injuries away from playing the kids.

Thought he made some great runs but ultimately he’s just a really good athlete, not a good footballer.

    Sounds really crap.

Here's a picture of some clean dishes and cups to cheer you up.
Stacked by a woman I hope, no self respecting bloke could put a load on in that state.

'Last man' is not the offence in itself but "The denying of a clear goalscoring opportunity".

Unless Inniss has been red carded for dangerous play, it's evident that there never was a clear goalscoring oppoertunity.

Shocker. A team of league one standard players play like a team of league one players against a team of league one players.

We can blame and point fingers, bemoan our rancid luck and the shitty finger of fate dealt out by the footballing Gods but League one level is where we be. I have reluctantly come to terms now I think.  Miracles happen of course but there are no sunny uplands awaiting us anytime soon.

And, on that bright note, I am getting my head down. Nite nite fellow inmates.

Have we ever successfully appealed a red card?
  • The weird thing is until this season we would probably have rested Innis for Tuesday, as he was unable to play midweeks as well as Saturdays.
  • Fleetwood were very good defensively. If Stockley had been playing for us today, I doubt he would have touched the ball as much as he did playing against us.

    He had 21 touches
    0 shots on target
    33% pass accuracy
    Commited 3 fouls

He hardly had a good game in fact I would go as far to say he put in a Charlton performance for Fleetwood today

Marriott looked better than him and pre match I was more worried about Stockley than Marriott

Started well, good passing and had Fleetwood campedin their half, but couldn't find the final ball as our crossing is generally awful. All our play went down the left and their RB was booked as a result of getting done over by CBT and co. too many times, sadly that booking was the catalyst as a reshuffle and forced change and Fleetwood turned into s different team with the remainder of the half there's. So, really, that was probably their game plan, sit back, ride it out go for it second half,it just came sooner....

Once a goal behind (great goal tbf) we always look panicked and rushed but a bit of solo brilliance from rak-sakyi brought some hope for the second half. It didn't come.

Usual defensive cock up and a free header, Fraser may have been fouled but there's still 9 other outfield players and none others were even close to the goal scorer.

Inniss, wasn't a great tackle didn't even get close to the ball  but was just a typical late bringing down, wasn't a red at all.

Bonne and Penney dreadful, Kilkenny very quiet compared to last week.

Other than the first 15/20 odd minutes, it turned into an absolute punishment trying to watch it. Terrible game in the end.

because they set up to play to his strengths, which we don’t the way we set up

I didn't go today or even watch, as I'm treating the missus to a weekend away. I was gutted when I realised I was missing a home match, seems like I dodged a bullet today. Why no Leaburn today?

Innis was unlucky, he did catch the player but he probably would have tried to hold the player up as Ness was covering. Ness probably didn't give him a shout but he could cover it, also making Innis not the last man, worth appealing in my opinion and get it reduced to a booking.
