Summer Transfer Rumours - Deadline Day p446

It is good we have done some deals but the situation has to complicate things. I would expect it all to free up a bit when the takeover is ratified by the EFL which it seems is close.1

This is part of the paradox. We need "statement signings" to show we mean business but we need to show we mean business to make statement signings, who otherwise have plenty of other options.DA9 said:At our current level, and May being a relatively big signing in the scheme of things for L1, hopefully it may persuade a few potential signings that we mean business and are worth the punt, who otherwise might have been dithering
May having a particular affinity for Charlton will have helped but we need more of our signings to be Alfie May than Lloyd Jones going forward (with no disrespect to Jones.)4 -
Oh Jack Hunt. Oh Jack Hunt. Oh Jack Hunt he has some front.North Lower Neil said:No we haven't, he doesn't play upfront!
To pip Chris Solly for the right back position in the League 1 team of the year in 2011/12, when everyone could see that Solly was the standout performer in that position.
Oh Jack Hunt he has some front.

I'd have thought any "imminent" signing free agents would have wanted to sign before the Spain trip. A great chance to bond with your new team mates and train abroad.MarcusH26 said:I'd expect any free agents we've been talking to to be wanting to get deals done in the next week or so. Wonder if we might get a " Marquee" signing to coincide with the Takeover announcement if it comes next week.0 -
Bonne wearing 8 didn't stop the Covered End from trying to sing about him being number 9North Lower Neil said:No we haven't, he doesn't play upfront!0 -

Attacking midfielder that’s done well for Cambridge last 2 seasons and only 24. Good signing for themPelling1993 said:

Cambridge obviously don't know what they're doing.MarcusH26 said:

Cousins has only signed a one year contract.
What sort of football club signs players on one year contracts?
I've never heard of such a thing.13 -

Yeah I thought it was a good move , probably not someone that would fit how Holden wants to setup but I know he was mentioned by people on this thread as a potential player to look at.1 -
Whether it's down to injuries or form, signing a one year deal at Cambridge is quite a career decline.MarcusH26 said:

The May signing implies we’re in a better place with more ambition than this time last year and hopefully is the tip of the iceberg and there is more to come.I have such mediocre knowledge of the lower leagues so I don’t have a clue who is out there with the potential, but I like the fact we’ve been linked with the Blackburn and Coventry full backs as they were both Championship players last season. There’s a lot of work to be done, and I know we’ve got until the end of August to get everyone in, but I would hope for at least 3 more between now and the start of the season. Especially if we’re going 3/5/2 - CBT at wb just feels wrong
We’re obviously short up top now as well2 -

If only Sean Clare had waited a few more days, sure he wanted to join Reading...🤔

He was in L1 two years ago, he is again.killerandflash said:

Pretty standard to be honest, average Championship player ends up in L1 in his late 20s.
It's hardly Champions League to non-league or anything.2 -
True, but Wigan 2 years ago were a "good side" at this level, one which won the title.North Lower Neil said:

Cambridge are a team who will be fighting to avoid the drop, especially as they seem to be losing their best players.0 -
