A bit odd that Lancs don't want him for their 50 over team either.cantersaddick said:
Excellent for Kent but a bit of a ridiculous situation that a bowler who is generally well thought of and played T20 internationals last year is unable to get a 100 contract. Something in the system isn't working if our spinners cant even get a game in the format where they are most effective.Addick Addict said:Matt Parkinson to play for us in the One Day Cup ahead of his permanent move at the end of the season
Baffling what's going on with spinners. Yorks take Bess from Somerset, and have now loaned him back to Somerset, replacing him with Moriaty from Surrey.cantersaddick said:
Agreed. With Virdi while he can feel hard done by, his fitness has been questioned and his form has fallen off a cliff from his peak in 2018. Hes showed some signs in the 2s this year so hopefully he is on an upward trajectory. With Moriarty its even less justified. Every game he has played he has contributed and done well, taken wickets and performed. His record is good across all format. He's been a victim of Batty's philosophy in the 4 day stuff and then absolutely shafted in the T20's this year for absolutely no reason. When we picked Cam Steel (a Rory Burns type 4 day opener who bowls a bit of leg spin) to bat 10 and not bowl in T20's for 5 or 6 games this year rather than picking Moriarty you know the coaches have something against you. Dan has every right to feel shafted and want out. His loan trial at Yorkshire is going well, they clearly value him and all the talk is he is joining them permanently and if they back him I'm certain he will perform. Would not be surprised to see him in the England setup in the not too distant future.Addick Addict said:
Fact is that with a squad as big as Surrey's, they can't keep everyone happy. Some will be happy to take the money but most will want to be playing. Moriarty and Virdi have been given next to no games whatsoever and it is soul destroying doing the 2s circuit with no hope of getting a first team gig.cantersaddick said:Speaking of spinners Dan Moriarty seems very settled at Yorkshire on loan. Hes playing there picking up wickets and from social media seems to be right in the heart of the group. Yorkshire even posted some clips on instagram of him taking worldies in fielding drills - which got me as Batty has said his fielding is a reason not to pick him.
Surrey are going to regret this loss for sure.
Meanwhile Adil Rashid hasn't played a single game since a couple of IPL games in April, not featuring at all in the Blast.1 -
Quinn has Moores caught by Albert for 94
301-6

Meanwhile Adil Rashid hasn't played a single game since a couple of IPL games in April, not featuring at all in the Blast.I think that there has probably been a big fallout between the Lancashire management and Parkinson. He hasn't played a CC game since the 6th April when he picked up 6 wickets, was then sent out on loan to Durham and only turned out half a dozen times in the Blast. Why have Parkinson around the dressing room and play him in the 50 over comp which let's face it is really for the development of players when you can give time in the middle to a youngster who is committed to the Club? Kent has Qadri but no young spinner coming through good enough yet for first team duty and it is a good intro for him to us.0 -
Warwickshire 82-3 and still 57 behind Middlesex
Meanwhile numbers 2, 3 & 4 for Worcs failed to score a run between them0 -

They'll never earn a move to Notts with scores like thatAddick Addict said:Warwickshire 82-3 and still 57 behind Middlesex

But they had Haynes in the squad but left him out of the X!killerandflash said:

A wicket to Evison and a catch to Compton (!) at first slip - both former Notts players
318-7
1 -
Jas Singh comes on and takes his 3rd wicket with his 2nd ball of the morning to have Hutton caught behind
331-82 -
Wicket to Bhuiyan, caught by Leaning and a 3rd maximum bowling point
349-91 -
350 all out from 301-5. A 4th wicket to Jas as the number 11 hits it straight up and is caught by Arshdeep
Have to say that this has been an improved bowling performance today by us with Notts adding just 75 for the loss of 5 wickets5 -

How many overs are lost between innings, 2, 3?
this is where I think common sense should kick in and they go for a lunch 15 mins early and come out 15 mins early and overs are not lost.
I get that they will want a 10 min burst at us but what if we are 9 down on day 4 and draw, those lost overs could be the difference between a draw and a result0 -

2 for the changeover but we are going to have an extra half hour today to make up for the overs lost yesterdayTodds_right_hook said:How many overs are lost between innings, 2, 3?

            Much better effort.
Now to get a first innings lead....2 -
We have to remember how young and inexperienced some of these players are - Albert (21), Geddes (21), Jas Singh (20) and even though Bhuiyan is 26 this is only his second pro game
8-0 at lunch
Albert 7* (21)
Compton 0* (9)0 -
Warwickshire are 119-3 and just 20 runs behind0
 -
Tom Latham and Will Jacks both out for exactly 99 for Surrey1

Hope the Young Guns show us what they're made of !Addick Addict said:We have to remember how young and inexperienced some of these players are - Albert (21), Geddes (21), Jas Singh (20) and even though Bhuiyan is 26 this is only his second pro game

Just about had it with Compton.
There to score decent runs but failing this season on the whole.
Plus important catches dropped.
Feeling very unhappy about the state of our squad at present and wondering how the morale is.1 -

I think that, with the departure of Downton, there will be a major shake up and that might include Matt Walker. Injuries really haven't helped and having to use 23 players really isn't great but too many players are living on past glories at the moment and not enough youngsters are coming through.Fanny Fanackapan said:Just about had it with Compton.

Baffling why so many batters are out of form. And why so many are injured now.Addick Addict said:

There does seem to be a downturn from last season in the CC, which makes you wonder whether Gidman replacing ten Doeschate is a factor.0 -

In the cases of say Cox and Muyeye a batting coach might be able to help but I'm a bit loathe to blaming them when it comes to players who have been pros for over a decade - they know if they have technical issues and can recognise it by just looking at footage of themselves. Sometimes it just comes down to poor decision making not helped by constant switching from white to red ball - Cox and Denly, for example, who did OK in the Blast. Equally, Denly did well last season in the CC but was awful in 2021 when he averaged 17.57 from 14 innings.killerandflash said:

Players at other counties seem to be coping better than us...Addick Addict said:

Perhaps that's the point. They are better at doing so. And better batsmen because they can do that. How many of ours average 35 in the CC in their career and how many at Surrey do so?killerandflash said:

50 partnership between Albert and Geddes
77-11 -
I see Surrey had 2 players out for 99 today, which can't have happened very often. Matt Henry 6-99 for Somerset, why or why oh why...0

Albert out for a decent 37 off 93 balls
86-21 -

Thinking about that, the likes of Pope, Burns, Sibley, Latham and Foakes haven't been playing T20 and Jacks and Abbott are the only one who have been successful in both. Compton is the only one of ours that hasn't been playing red and white ball whereas Muyeye, DBD, Denly, Billings, Leaning and Cox all have. The benefits of having a massive squad.Addick Addict said:
