He was seen getting a haircut in the Sidcup area.ShootersHillGuru said:Pardon me if I’ve missed something but is this a genuine rumour with substance or just that he’s an option identified by fans ?9 -
It's not a rumour that I'm aware of but Josh Coburn was suggested by another poster .... as I didn't know much about him or his capabilities, I posted a bit of info that I'd found plus some videos of his play and goals. He'd also had a decent season at Bristol Rovers and won awards there.ShootersHillGuru said:Pardon me if I’ve missed something but is this a genuine rumour with substance or just that he’s an option identified by fans ?
I thought I would share as others may be interested in seeing what I'd found out.

I do think we need a separate thread called ‘players that might suit us’. It would help me to be less confused when I read this thread.Covered End said:An option identified by fans.4 -

I don't want to be too 'knee jerk' but if we're going with 352 then based on the last couple of friendlies i think we might have to consider getting another centre back.bolloxbolder said:We need 11 new players based on this shower of shit..5 -
Squad still contains far too many players from the last couple of seasons mediocrity for my liking2

Another round of "bin offs" I hope. It is morale sapping at this point to hear the same old comments around the same old issues. Two years of this...1

Too many square pegs in round holes. If Holden hasn’t worked out yet that CBT isn’t a wing back then heaven help us.
May needs a proper partner upfront.
Its not fucking rocket science.8 -

I'm fairly sure he knows which is exactly why Edun came in. I can't imagine there's anyone at any level of the club and beyond not aware of our need for a striker either.Hartleypete said:Too many square pegs in round holes. But getting the right player is better than getting any old crap.24 -
Plus for the first time in years, I am confident we can get what we need in.thenewbie said:

Definitely think we need a left footed CB.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Based on the players we have I would also consider starting Thomas (ahead of Ness) on the left of the three CBs. He’s the most comfortable in that position from the current bunch we have.

I agree. Thomas seems to me to be more ready than Ness at least.12

Last season the solid performances of Ness showed him best as a back 4 player,Oh Eddie Youds... said:

Once Ness was injured, Thomas came in and earned his new contract as a result of his own performances - including able to cover the LB.
We badly lacked cover behind LWB in that first half today.

Thomas is better suited to LCB then Ness but don’t think he’s good enough. It’s an area we need a signing for sure.3

Be interesting how we sell the club to a new striker as we already have 3. Leaburn and Aneke should/might be fit in September to play alongside May so where does that leave the new striker?1

Chuks will never be fit . We need 4 fit strikers if we are playing 2 up toplancashire lad said:Be interesting how we sell the club to a new striker as we already have 3. Leaburn and Aneke should/might be fit in September to play alongside May so where does that leave the new striker?6 -
yes but how do we persuade a striker who is number 1 at another club to be number 3 herewmcf123 said:

If we rotate the strikers, all of them will get decent minutes.lancashire lad said:

I think the first striker we sign will be the one we intend to play upfront with May.lancashire lad said:

Leaburn 3rd striker.
Your fourth striker (who I'm not sure we'll get) could be a PL loanee.
We'll play 51 games minimum this season, likely at least a couple more. There's plenty of games for 3 strikers given we appear to be playing 2 up top, and likely cup games, injury cover etc for a fourth.

Aneke may well be fit by September, but he will also be injured by October and won’t been seen again for 5 months.lancashire lad said:Be interesting how we sell the club to a new striker as we already have 3. If we’re playing two up top, that’s 92 possible starting berths for our starting strikers.
Split evenly between May, Leaburn and another, that’s around 30 starts each… we’ve seen last season that Leaburn is prone to the odd niggle, so 20-30 starts would seem to be about right for him.4 -
Chuks if and when won’t ever be considered as a starter so at best he’s our bench option. Trouble is we’ve been here before. We can’t rely on him even being that. He’s effectively supernumerary and we should view him as such.1
