Sacked this evening after losing 2-1 at home to Harrogate and dropping into the relegation zone
It's not his fault though ......

    2nd favourite for Millwall job
  • You might not believe me but Ted Baker ( yes THE Ted Baker) told me he was useless when we hired him. Ted is great mates with Paul Tisdale

Watched the goals tonight and sad to see Mitchell struggling, I hope this doesn't set him back.
Not sure where Ben Garner goes from here as a manager as other than Swindon his CV with Rovers, Charlton and Colchester won't help get him another manager's job in the EFL.
Garner will have to drop another level or two to National League or NLS or NLN.

Maybe the job was too much for him? That's the comment he's made about refs before.

He does love a ref moan. The post match interviews became painful. Never Garner's 'process' at fault.

Martin Sandgaard’s finest intervention .  I do think Garner has some good ideas but he’s never had the players to implement what he wants to do.

Which does beg the question of whether those ideas are too ambitious honestly. If he keeps going from job to job but keeps finding that players are not responsive then maybe it's not the players that are the issue.

Strangely I can barely remember him, its either old age or a sign of the number of managers we have had. I actually dont think I could name our last five managers.

Yes, that’s the point I was making .  His ideology is admirable but not realistic .

Sacked 3 jobs out of 4 in very short spell tells you the bloke is out of his depth. Playing pretty passes around your back 4 but going nowhere will not deliver results.

Also comes across as an arrogant idiot as well.

I struggle as well, as they all seem to meld into one.  If I remember rightly, Dean Garner started out alright but never had a Plan B. As soon as other managers had figured out what we were going to do, we never won again because we would never adapt. Though, that might have been Ben Holden or someone else.

Maybe we shouldn’t have sacked Jackie Johnson.

When you read that statement of what a job he did makes you wonder why they sacked him!

Appointed head coach for the Right to Dream academy in Ghana. They own FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish top tier so some of their graduates get the chance to play football in Europe. They were one of various parties linked with buying us when TS was looking to sell.

Ghana? Sounds like about his level. Garner gone to Ghana, where after a short while he will probably be a gawner.

We've had some shite managers in recent times but this bloke has to be right up there. "Garner-ball" anyone?

same old same old , any lump of shit comes through the door at Charlton and gets elevated to world status immediately by some   As for that Charlie Kirk you’ve seen his YouTube footage …….

Actually think this is probably the right kind of thing for him , not cut out for first team management but working with young players I can see him being really good at. Right To Dream also own the new San Diego FC MLS franchise that starts next season
  • Agreed, he is a coach of youth not a manager.  Would be amazed to see him back as manager any time soon.

I wouldn't call him 'shite' tbh. I think his ambition is such that it'd require a LOT of initial patience. I could actually see him being a really good manager if given a couple of years anywhere. The trouble is that such patience is almost never afforded. He had tactical ideas and it was clear sometimes that with the right players he'd have us playing some amazing stuff. But he never did have the right players. Not as much as poor Adkins was, but he was seriously let down by the bunch of wasters at his disposal

Wasn’t he in charge of our demolishing of Plymouth? Everything clicked for him that game.

hes definitely not shite. And i think with the right type of players he can become a good manager

right to dream is a good move for him to find his feet again, the owners have good club links as well for the future if he performs
