Love the NJ interviews, and todays is no different, he owns the problem for todays first half, in trying to implement phase 2 a bit early with a diamond, which by his own admission didn't work, due to players available, or time to get it sorted on the training pitch, but he changed things up and back to the norm system and the draw was achieved, whilst with a bit more intensity we could have won it.
Remember when he came in we were on 31 points, heading one way only, he turned that around maybe with a bit more luck a few more wins instead of drawers, I have every confidence that if anyone can turn this around it is him..and I am looking forward to finishing the season with a win next week, and August 2024...COYR...👍22 -

Leaburn returning fit and staying with us for a full season next year will be key IMO.Think we are in serious need of midfield improvements. Dobson will be gone, and Anderson is still a work in progress and can’t be counted on for a full promotion season.
And the city of Coventry used to be the biggest load of shit called Coventry I had ever seen. Until Conor’s turd of a performance today.
And let’s not kid ourselves that all our CBs are worth keeping. It was calamity central in the first half - so major changes needed at CB.
I would focus on 2 x CBs (both starting standard), 3 x CMs and a proper alternative to Leaburn that won’t be injured non stop.
EDIT - oh and a keeper that can catch a cross would be nice as well7 -

Awful match with Dobson's goal being the one redeeming feature. Even the lap of honour was half hearted, but then why wouldn't it be? That was our worst season in living memory. On that performance Isted, Edun, and Thomas really shouldn't be here next season. Most of the rest have to seriously up their game. It wasn't good enough, but then it hasn't been all season. Frankly, the kids played some better football than their dads when they come on at the end. In particular, the young Wickham boy looked proper Charlton material when he whacked the ball into the steward's head.

Fortunately I’m confident for the first time in absolutely ages that our manager knows what he’s doing and is himself confident that he’s going to be given the tools to do it. I still think that we’re more realistically looking at season 25/26 for promotion but anything less than playoffs or just missing for next season is disastrous.3

Painful game. Jones has done well to make us comfortably safe, BUT it's been a grim watch, especially against the poorer teams.
Awful first half, slightly better second half, with the goal a rate moment of quality. We had a full week of training, so surely enough time to practice the 442 diamond if Jones wanted to try it today?2 -
I can’t see that happening myself. I’m not sure many clubs would be taking a punt on him after having played so little this season. I’m not saying he is injury prone but he needs to show he isn’t before he gets a decent move I would thinkSELR_addicks said:

There will need to be a BIG churn of players to get anywhere near top 6. Terrible game. Only positives I can take are that I hopefully never have to sit through another performance from Hector, Edun or Isted. As likeable as Thomas is, hopefully he moves on too and takes Gillesphy with him although that is unlikely.
This squad have taken us to our worst season in 98 years and that isn't because of luck or even particularly about management. They are just very very poor quality.
Andy Scott has to take a large amount of the blame but having said he would hold his hands up if there was failure he has I stead gone into hiding.10 -
In addition he didn't need to sign a pre-contract with a club in Hungary. If he had done what 95% of players do which is to just see out his contract then he/us would be in a much better position to now negotiate a new one.EveshamAddick said:

He did ok today. I'd keep him but not as a starter. Need two centre halves to come in as starters alongside Jones then Hector as one of the back up options.Leuth said:

I agree with Curbs, why does May not start some games, or is taken off. Hopefully at least 5 or 6 of the players on display today that have contributed to us finishing about 16th in league one will not be here next season.
I'm going to Wycombe next week though god only knows why.
Hopefully NJ will be allowed a complete rebuild this summer because the facts don't lie, we are a piss poor mid table team.
People saying we only need 3 or 4 replacements this summer are delusional, we need at least 7 better than we presently have if we want promotion next season.

Credit to Shrewsbury, what a hard working, organised and at times skillful side.
They made us look what we are, an ordinary bottom half of league 1 team.
Lowest finish in 98 years.
I'm a Thomas fan but that was a bad game for him, Isted isn't good enough, Hector always has a mistake in him, Coventry doesn't impact, I could go on but we need a total rebuild in the summer and that has to be driven by Nathan Jones, not Andy Scott.
MOTM was George Dobson, it was going to him regardless but a great finish and a great ending to his Valley career.18 -
Was I imagining it or did we play the first 20 mins with no right sided wing back? Saw the line up that Small was playing right side and edun left but both were on left hand side and no one at all on right until after we conceded. Was this a bizarre deliberate tactic or complete lack of understanding?
First half didn't feel like many were desperately playing for a job with us next year and to be honest out of the players who started first half other than May, Dobson, Anderson and Small I wouldn't be overly bothered if the rest were cleared out this summer. (Would also keep Wickham as a battering ram Aneke type ans think Coventry will bed in over summer and show what his reputation is about next season).
Much better second half against a hoofball Shrewsbury and obviously Jones had put a rocket up them at half time. Aneke and Kanu did well and Ramsey is our starting number 2 on the right next season surely.
Busiest I've seen the covered End concourse this season and hopefully will see more of that next year.
Glad season is all but done and hopefully keep the no loss record next week and build a squad ASAP over the summer ready to give it a proper go from August next season.3 -

It's not about today. It's the fact he is not good enough just like most of our squad. If we want to genuinely challenge for promotion next season which the SMT and manager tell us then we need to shift the dead wood. He is part of that.
