Slow starts at tournaments are fine, you do need to get through the group and you don't have to blow teams away while you are doing it. But you do also need to build some momentum in the group and there is zero sign of that from our first two performances. In fact, we peaked in the opening 30 minutes vs Serbia and it's gone backwards from there. Southgate has done an awful lot of good as England manager and has fixed a lot of damage that was done in the Capello, Mclaren, and Hodgson years around the culture of the England setup, but if he doesn't want to waste this generation of talent's best chance of winning a Euros (Kane will be getting old by the next one) then he MUST change his approach to the matches and how we setup. We have got to go at teams more, get on the front foot and then do everything we can to stay on it, even against the likes of France. We are a dreadful watch when we play like we did today.

I like what Ferdinand is saying. Bellingham alongside Rice and Foden as the 10. If Kane is not prepared to lead the press then someone who will needs to come in. The apparent lack of fitness is a massive concern.7

Absolutely zero chance Kane gets dropped. Record goal scorer and captain. Southgate should go as soon as we're knocked out and I've been saying he should go even before we got to the last Euro final.

I suggested that a while back and got told that we couldn't do that because Bellingham is the best 10 in the world. It's what is best for the team as a whole and if did that then we could get pace on the left in the shape of Gordon or Bowen and Saka on the right to get in behind.1 -
70% of Rice’s game is driving up the pitch with the ball and/or pressing high. His game is not sitting in front of the defence 24/7.By putting Bellingham next to Rice you restrict Rice’s best qualities and you restrict Bellingham’s opportunities to get into the box and score like against Serbia as well.2
