Another Shooting In America?

This is an incredibly courageous man who puts his life at risk at every one of these events, when he could instead be on a Yacht in the Med, or on the golf course doing what he loves.
The Left are now so desperate, and are fast running out of options.
After cheating him out of the last election, they never ever thought he'd run again.
Lawfare hasn't worked. The lies about "Russian Collusion", "Very fine people, on both sides", " inject bleach", "pee tapes" etc etc, have been exposed as lies, even though the lying media have been allowed to keep their Politzer Prizes for the lies they pushed for years.
The media are responsible for radicalising half the world, with relentless lies about a man who they know, cannot be bought, will expose their corruption, and who loves his country and wants to make it great again.
Who could possibly disagree with such sentiments?
It's people who have something to hide, and Marxists whose goal is to destroy and then to completely reshape the world.
Even yesterday CNN were up to their usual tricks of downplaying the incident in saying that Trump "fell to the ground", at what "appeared to be" the sound of gunfire.
Biden and Obama, having demonised Trump for years, calling him a "fascist " and "existential threat to democracy " and that he needed to be put in the "bullseye " stirring up such hatred and division, are now issuing fake messages condemning the attack, when they themselves are responsible for what happened.
If I was Trump, I'd give up and live the life of a billionaire like so many others with such wealth.
But the bloke loves his country too much and has too much courage for his own good.
Sadly, I fear that this will not be the final attempt to bring him down.
RIP the innocents killed and critically injured yesterday.
Russia and China behaved themselves. And you know what else? There were NO wars during Trump's presidency.
Look at the shit show now.
But yes, 'Orange man bad'.13 -

Middle East a tinderbox on a scale we’ve not seen for 50 years. Enter stage right Donald Trump. Ffs.
American politics is crazy, how can the 2 main candidates for arguably the most important position in the world be a convicted felon and a frail old man.
Yet more Media lies that you've gleefully sucked up.
And if it gets overturned on appeal, he won't even be a "Fellon" never mind a "convicted Fellon".
Because of crazy USA laws, he is immune to prosecution for other offences. Madness that a former President is protected from facing justice.
Any President has to have some immunity for actions taken during their term, otherwise they would never take any tough decisions.
Or are you suggesting that Obama should now face trial for the estimated between 64 and 116 civilians that he had killed in 542 airstrikes?
If Trump truly believed that the election had been stolen from him, then he had every right to challenge the result.
But, getting back to the shooting, quite widespread reporting that the gunman, using his father's gun, was a Republican Party member, but seems to have been influenced by the likes of Nick Fuentes (he did, when 17, donate $15 to the Democratic Party).
It seems as if, had he been three feet or so to the left, he would have had clear sight of Trump, but been out of line of sight for the Secret Service sniper teams, behind a tree.
Looking likely that local law enforcement, who were using the yard in which the building used is, had failed to secure the area properly.0 -

Anyway, America needs gun control to be seen as a sensible nation. Until then, to me, they'll always be considered a circus.

But as distasteful as it seems, it is not illegal and not even unusual to pay "hush money" to an accuser.
And that is why the Trump conviction will not stand, it was built upon a false premise.1 -
What would need to happen for the gun laws to change in the US? How many deaths would be unacceptable?1

Trump's message is 'making America safe again'. A country so awash with guns is never going to be safe and Trump doesn't want to get rid of them. Of course nobody deserves to be shot at, but a shooting in America doesn't come as a surprise any more.4

On gun control, has anyone really made any significant inroads in the last 50 years? Or is the constitution absolute?0

I am going to be truthful and will no doubt get some stick.
I fully endorse democracy and that this action was unacceptable.
At the same time, I wish the gunman had been a better shot.1 -

I wouldn't want to bring an extremely tragic recent event into this conversation. However being allowed to keep a gun in the house, for ones personal protection, and that of ones family in a dire emergency against an intruder with malicious intent, doesn't seem like a bad idea.2 -

Fewer guns, fewer gun related deaths. It ain’t rocket science. Remember Dunblane? Well I’m quite proud of the way we learned from it, and took action.9 -

Unfortunately there are many keyboard warriors on this forum, who seemingly spend all day on here, professing to be experts on all things global politics, based solely on what they read in the Guardian or watch on the BBC or CNN.
Having said that, I noticed that tonight the BBC finally presented a truthful and balanced report on the assassination attempt.
I can only assume that they've finally realised that the game's up, Trump will be the next President, and like it or not, they'll now need to start presenting the facts, truthfully and honestly.8 -

I can’t stand Trump. Where my son is at college in Iowa they honestly believe he will make their lives better. Trump has one aim and that’s to help himself. I have a lot of family that support him which I find astonishing. The USA deserves two new candidates, the choice is impossible right now, a narcissist and a man rapidly losing his faculties, but I fear this assassination attempt has opened the doors for Trump to walk straight back in. Scary times.7 -

It's such a shame it's so entrenched in so many US citizens.
I've got a friend in Vermont and we agree on a lot, politically, socially etc. But when it comes to guns, he carries a licence for concealed weapons, carries it grocery shopping etc. Gives the 'responsible gun owners' line.
So strange to me.4 -

Bottom line is no-one, apart from the military, needs a machine gun and banning everything apart from hand guns would be massive change. It’ll never happen though. They love their guns.6 -

He did manage to kill some poor innocent man trying to protect his family, and critically injure two others.
Unfortunately he failed to murder a father and grandfather, who built the New York Skyline, has employed thousands in his lifetime, and has put his comfortable life at risk for the love of his country, without even accepting a salary along the way.
But hey, he hits back occasionally, and sends out nasty Tweets!
