Beth Shriever dominates 6 races and then gets Gazumped in the final and finishes last !
Beth has a great attitude and good to see an athlete not crying and seeing the jeopardy in BMX and knowing the final just didn't go to plan.

I find it a strange format.
The Aussie winner won all her 7 races.

I gathered that but if you want the best racer to win why not have six in the final as a poor start and you have no chance with 8 in the final.

All the races had 8 starters, unless someone was injured. It does seem strange that the final is just the one race, when all the other rounds had 3 races, expect for the last chance race.

One good thing that came out of today was that I've now got Discovery+. No cost as I've got TNT too (which I was going to cancel last month).

It does mean that I can watch the final round of the golf on Sunday.......now just have to figure out how to sync up my laptop to my tv. (Worse comes to the worse I can just use the HDMI leads like I do for Charlton tv).
I assume you don’t have a modern TV which may have a Discovery+ app?
Yes I do. That's what I activated, but too long & boring to go into on here.

The BBC show the 3 on 3 basketball between France and USA and it was nicely poised with 3 minutes to go. They announce it is on the red button and change channels. They could easily have shown the conclusion and missed out all their adverts and opening credits. The red button is not instant and some people may not have access to it and there wasn't even a mention of it after that. The BBC really are making a mess of this.

The strange switch from bbc2 to 601(red button) or vice versa was GB mens hockey losing 1-0 with a short corner and the commentator said switch channels now so I did and from 1-0 down it was 1-1 and 4 minutes later !

I'm also watching the games on Euro sport but prefer the beeb especially on the Athletics.

I didn’t actually realise that Discovery+ came free with my Sky package.

Signing up was simple on Sky Q.

    - went to My Sky on the main menu
    - scrolled along to Discovery+
    - follow the instructions to sign up

    👏🏼 Golden GB men's Eight. 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
    Plus 🥇 for the cox👏🏼

    10 Gold 10 silver 9 bronze GB

It's all about momentum, skill, talent and a bit of luck that the Athletes don't wake up on the day with a cold, guts ache etc.

    Fabulous 💪🏻

  • The men’s eight hang tough and win gold. Brilliant..

Also great news - no more screechy and the terminator commentary.

Another gold medal I managed to miss. I think I should avoid watching the Olympics live, to maximise our medal haul  :D

Glad it wasn't just me who thought those two were bloody awful. It wasn't just the tone of their voices - which grated at either end of the spectrum - but if you got past that and listened to what they were actually saying it was ridiculous. Loads of bullshit talk of tactics like it was a boxing match and trying to hang out the jeopardy to the last few strokes when the result was decided long before the end.

Still, can't say rowing has ever been my sport. Not a lot of it going on at my school in Lewisham.

I’ve got Discovery+ £30.99 for a month 😳I  think and will cancel at the end of month.
Is that where I can watch the athletics live , got it late last night and every time I clicked on stuff it sent me to Eurosport which I already have 🙄
the first link on the app will take you to the main Eurosport feed with commentary which switches between events.
if you want to solely watch a specific event then scroll through and pick the one you want but you may not have commentary

You've got to love the internet for things like this - blokes making 20 minute videos about something that should really only take 2 minutes to explain. "Hit that like button!"

Jeremiah Azu false starts, and exits the 100m without even running.

GB Jeremiah Azu Olympics lasted 073 seconds before getting the Red card for a faulty start in the 100 metres.
If he doesn't get picked for relay then that's a split second to have your games over.

To stop the nonsense when Azu didn't want to leave the track, just let him run under protest and then disqualify him if crystal clear.

I'm sure Hinchliffe would be even faster without the mullet flapping around  ;)

he's not allowed to run under protest as they're using world athletics starting equipment so a run under protest is only allowed if the referee believes the data is obviously incorrect.
with other equipment at lesser meets they can allow it if there is any doubt

awesome from Hinchliffe there. once he learns to start he'll be incredible
