+++ Luke Chambers Signs On Loan From Liverpool+++

Thought he had another pretty good game today. JRS didn't have many chances and Manhoef, who ripped us apart last time, had none. Most importantly, he brings balance and means TC can play up front. Cracking signing23

One of the best loan children we've had in a long time. Best in fact since the bloke playing for Stoke I'd say8
-
Did well, can take a decent corner too, tired last 15 but understandable. Like him a lot.3

Chambers and Clarke are two of our most important players now. The shape they allow us to play, as well as the crossing threat (I haven't felt nervous about a cross from either of them, which is so much more than can be said for some of the players we've had in recent years), makes us look night and day compared to when we had Bell out there with Macca shuttling in, or Ramsay out of his best position with Burke inside etc. They are workable for the odd game but not for a season. We looked more threatening, more confident, and more positive mentally tonight that I've seen us for a good while.
Hope that we can keep this going, they can stay fit, and we can do enough to stay up.23 -
He's getting more solid with every minute class delivery too as we all know, my mate at the game said he had the touch of a r*pist for the last 10 minutes and I did agree but an absolute credit to himself and the club, top loan this one.0
-
He was absolutely dead for the last 10. He gave everything he possibly had. Will go very very far in the game8

I hate that saying.Steven81 said:He's getting more solid with every minute class delivery too as we all know, my mate at the game said he had the touch of a r*pist for the last 10 minutes and I did agree but an absolute credit to himself and the club, top loan this one.25 -

Dealt with the Temu Haaland well in the end too7

Technically sound and had a good game this evening although he has to add more aggression He was put through in the first half and ducked out of a challenge on the keeper. As his confidence grows post injury I'd like to see him put a few tough tackles in and have the commitment to win a few 50/50s .He is very good on the ball though and you can see he has a football brain0

He was getting a yellow at best if he went in for thatlolwray said:Technically sound and had a good game this evening although he has to add more aggression He was put through in the first half and ducked out of a challenge on the keeper. As his confidence grows post injury I'd like to see him put a few tough tackles in and have the commitment to win a few 50/50s .He is very good on the ball though and you can see he has a football brain4 -
He's a young player who's not had many minutes of top flight football under his belt and might be erring on the side of caution sometimes when it comes to crunching tackles but you can see technically he is going to be quality player.1

He got done a couple of times for pace/power by Lawal but I get the feeling he’s not the only left back that’s had that this season.
He’s not the finished article but he’s very good. Is there hope that we might be able to keep him..? No?2 -
Big swing in people's opinion on him now he is actually in action. Turned a lot of negativity into very positive.2

Might get him on another season loan but if Edwards is back, not sure we could guarantee Liverpool him the game time.Callumcafc said:He got done a couple of times for pace/power by Lawal but I get the feeling he’s not the only left back that’s had that this season.

No chance we’d buy him.3 -
I'd be interested to know what he is worth, how much Liverpool rate him where he is in the pecking order etc. Should we stay up is it beyond the realms of possibility ? I do admit I have no clue about him bar his appearances thus far.WSS said:

Will be 22 this summer and considering his last contract was signed in 2022 is probably out of contract next summer. Should be someone we try and make permanent this summer as doubt he is good enough for the Liverpool set up9

Thanks crispywood I do think as fans after all the heartache we downplay ourselves a bit too much and these are the types of players we will be securing to make that next step in our journey.Crispywood said:Will be 22 this summer and considering his last contract was signed in 2022 is probably out of contract next summer. Trent AA’s brother is his agent. Maybe we can get both?5

Lawal is a CDM by trade which is quite interesting, usually it would have been ex academy lad Junior Tchamedau at RB for them but like most of their squad he's injured.Callumcafc said:He got done a couple of times for pace/power by Lawal but I get the feeling he’s not the only left back that’s had that this season.

Chambers is an interesting one. I'd like him back but I'm also completely aware that Josh Edwards would slide straight back in when fit and I doubt Liverpool would give us Chambers to basically be cover.1 -

This says he further extended his deal in 2023, so i'd be surprised if he's out of contract any time soon.Crispywood said:Will be 22 this summer and considering his last contract was signed in 2022 is probably out of contract next summer. Your friends actually say things like that at the ground??Steven81 said:He's getting more solid with every minute class delivery too as we all know, my mate at the game said he had the touch of a r*pist for the last 10 minutes and I did agree but an absolute credit to himself and the club, top loan this one.5 -
Good passer and crosser.competant defensively but very reluctant to run with the ball even if there is space in front of him1
-
Probably not. Only chance is we get a full season loan I would imagine. But then always the gamble if we are not where Liverpool want come January, they send him to another team.Callumcafc said:He got done a couple of times for pace/power by Lawal but I get the feeling he’s not the only left back that’s had that this season.

That's why I only ever pass judgement after I've seen the player playing for us. Chambers is a class act.redman said:Big swing in people's opinion on him now he is actually in action. Turned a lot of negativity into very positive.
Coady is doing well as is Dykes and Harry Clarke is quality too. Not a bad window.2 -
Seemed to get a lot of negativity on here when we first signed him, but I think he’s done really well for us, from what I’ve seen so far.0

A 4 year deal would still leave him out of contract next summer. Maybe they gave him a 5 year deal but don’t tend to see too many of those given out. Also could be one of the deals where you reward with a better deal but keep contract length the same like we did with AndersonChris_from_Sidcup said:

This guy covers a lot of Liverpool academy stuff, Chambers clearly well thought of by there by fans/journos

Good interview with him on Cawley’s Substack.
Mentions he’s out of contract in June but Liverpool have an optional year.7
