How Many points for Championship Survival? and How do we get them?

Sorry but that's ridiculous. Even of we do lose every other game it also requires Oxford to win both. They looked dreadful last night. Wednesday could quite conceivably manage a draw there. Even a Milwall with one eye on the playoffs shouldn't be too troubled.Leuth said:We are not 66/1 to go down in actuality. Much more like 6/1. Very very good chance to lose all our remaining games, the biggest obstacle by far is Oxford playing their final game at Millwall, but we really don't want to be relying on that
The odds of them winning both games is way longer than 6/1 and therefore by definition our odds of surviving are also much better. Maybe 66/1 is generous but it's much closer to reality than 6/1 is.1 -
They will struggle to shift some players though because they are a) not very good and b) on big money.WSS said:I'm pretty sure 90% of their squad have moves lined up for next year already. They are starting from scratch with no money and some significant overheads. Their training ground cost close to £100m didn't it?
They're in big trouble I think.
And this:From next season, clubs in League One will be restricted to spending 60% of their extra football income - such as prize money, cup earnings or transfer fees received - on player-related expenditure.
They are a shambles. Sacked Cifuentes in January when they were 14th and 6 points off the play offs. Not great but not disastrous. Then waited 3 weeks to appoint the man who was sacked in December by Oxford.
They lost £71m in their last financial results and i don't see how this gets much better anytime soon.1 -
I think they will very likely go under personally their expense structure is not sustainable in the championship let alone league one and if it’s correct what someone said earlier that they have already leveraged their outstanding premiership payments they are in a world of shit in terms of staying on the right side of financesChris_from_Sidcup said:

Surely if the betting companies offer odds of 66/1 that the actuality. Its a made up number based on probability of a number of scenarios occuring.Leuth said:We are not 66/1 to go down in actuality. Ignore GD because that will be reversed if the above happens.Oxford to winv Sheffield Wednesday 2/5v Millwall 4/1 (estimate, but feels about right unless Ipswich win tonight and Saturday in which case Millwall can't get second and could rest players)Charlton to losev Ipswich 8/13v Hull 6/4 (estimate, haven't won in five - four points from a possible 15 and we are at home)v Swansea 6/4 (estimate but they are on the beach already)That fivefold comes to just over 69/1 - so 66/1 to be relegated is about spot on.6

The answer is 1 and tonight.0

Well in wont be long until they are above us and we are only the 4th best in South London.SantaClaus said:I've moved on from Millwall. For me it's all about hating Bromley these days.1 -
Jones has to go for it against Hull. They've had recent draws away to Oxford and Leicester and have conceded 63 goals, the 4th worst defensive record in the division.2

Yes i'm aware of that but their defence and recent results shows they're a side who can clearly be got at. They're also without a win in 5 and are throwing away their play off hopes.
If we set up defensively, play Dykes up front on his own and play for a draw, we will lose.6 -
It doen't seem to matter how we play lately we seem to get a bad result.0

I know we’re on an awful run and it couldn’t have come at a worst time, it’s the polar opposite to how the season started. However, I saw fight and effort last night and although we were outplayed last night, I saw a team that understands the task in front of them.I strongly feel that if we can turn up on Saturday with the same application as we did last night then we are capable of getting a point
As much as his football has frustrated me at times this season, I’m wholeheartedly in agreement with Jones post match last night; we need one big performance and I am confident the team and the fans can come together on Saturday to deliver it
What’s done is done as they say and all we can do now is get behind them for Saturday13 -
and heading to Charlton?Chris_from_Sidcup said:Still can't believe that Leicester side has gone down. Put most of those players into other teams and they will perform far better.
4 years after reaching a European semi final they are now going to be heading to Bromley and Burton.1 -

They might let in a lot but they score their fair share too.
As we know, we can only score once in a match. To get a point on Sat we will need to score at least twice.2 -
2-2 it is then 😀golfaddick said:

Given the injuries last night God knows who Jones will start with on Saturday. The only certainty is by the second half we’ll either be camped in our half defending for our lives to cling on to a point or aimlessly hoofing the ball up the field to try to equalise… Jones knows no other way3

We were in such a commanding position 7 games ago. This collapse has been absolutely awful and both players and staff should answer for it.Regardless of if we survive or not this has been unacceptable.6

I just want the season to end with us and this division, its been an end to the season that has dampened any burning embers or enthusiasm that were present at the start of the season.2
-
We need to go out there and imagine we need 3 points or we are down. Almost put ourselves in a position where only 3 points will do and just throw ourselves at them from the off.
I am not saying we will win - but i can imagine us 'only' managing to get a point in that situation far more than playing for a draw from the outset.3 -

If we scramble over the line. This really dismal end to the season could turn into a blessing in disguise. As all levels of management of our club can be under no illusions that the current squad is good enough for next season. Our final lineup that played at Wembley in 25 only two departed and 5 or 6 have played major roles in our current season. This cannot be the case next season which must be clear to all.
We clearly need another major overhaul and need to learn from the failures in our recruitment from this season. Next years championship will also have different dynamics with extended playoffs and more teams under financial rule pressure. And the Charlton Loyal deserve to be served up something far less ugly on the pitch, especially at the Valley.

Like we did last night you mean? - Until Ipswich got their equaliser they were doing nothing with the ball (apart from their bizarre miss) and Kaminski was a spectator.DamoNorthStand said:We need to go out there and imagine we need 3 points or we are down. Even when they equalised we were again front footed, and for once reacted well to going behind - The problem became when we lost half our attacking threat, and because of that (with no alternative), the performance is being frowned upon, and is being looked at purely as a result instead.2 -
At home hull average exactly 1.5 goals a game both scoring and conceding. We score less than 1, concede more than 1.
we some how need to find two goals for a chance of a point I fear. Either that or we go with 9 at the back…….
im inclined to go defensive, play 5-4-1 especially if Coady can play? We need 11 captains out there fighting for every single ball and I’m expecting a lot of yellows as we need to be all over every one of their players.3 -
2025/2026: 6 points above the relegation zone with 2 games to play
2019/2020: 2 points above the relegation zone with 2 games to play (Relegated)
2013/2014: 2 points above the relegation zone with 2 games to play (Safe)
1982/1983: 2 points above the relegation zone with 2 games to play (Safe)5 -
Because it’s only the result that matters now.ForeverAddickted said:

we had the games after Middlesbrough to get a performance together and we’ve been found wanting.
we don’t have the luxury of looking past the result because we are two games from relegation0 -
Kaminski was a spectator for the penalty.ForeverAddickted said:

I don't tend to be successful betting on anything so I'll have £20 on that. If I lose we all win and if I win I'll have a freebie season ticket net year.bobmunro said:Leuth said:We are not 66/1 to go down in actuality. Much more like 6/1. I read that Hull are the best counter attacking away side before the Leicester game. They catch teams on the break.
Going 'Gung ho' going for it will likely play straight in to their hands.
I think we need to get a balance, have intent to win but not chase.2 -
"Owing to his sending off at Leicester, Jakirovic will be forced to watch the huge clash at The Valley from the stands, with assistant bosses Dean Holden and Marko Salatovic overseeing matters from the technical area, though Jakirovic will have a direct line to the dugout."0
