But if Wrexham are willing to just let him go - given the contract is up next year that's basically what they are doing, then why not ask for a free transfer?  No different to them but more beneficial for us.

Unless either we're not paying his wages in full (which seems odd given I don't think he'd be that high an earner), or Okonkwo wants to keep his options open next summer, which would possibly be a shame if so.

Alternatively you can look at it if that happens is that we massively improved our keeper for this season and a financially incredible move for us. 

AO could be a loan with obligation to buy couldn't it? Just us kicking the fee down the road till next summer as we need the money this window for JRS. Not in Wrexham's interest to loan with no obligation as they will end up with nothing next summer.

Frees up money for JRS and gives us a good chance to look at him.

Stick a clause in to way we have to sign him if he males 40 appearances and then, if he turns out to be guff we just drop him and walk away.  Who cares if we piss Wrexham off - we;ll be in the premier league by then

I’m not saying he is rubbish, just that I don’t think a loan deal is that bad because he’s clearly far from proven.

No reason why we couldn’t sign Okonkwo permanently in January. Gives us time to sort a deal out if we want to.

The moment Wrexham got to this level they brought in another keeper to be number 1. That keeper ended up being injured so AO actually managed to play most of the season at this level.

Wrexham, who then had a whole season of seeing him at this level, still saw this position as a weakness and spent big cash on another keeper making him 3rd choice keeper. 

So whatever we think - he didn't prove himself to those in charge at Wrexham.

So I go back to my original point. I think having him on loan is much less of a risk then having him signed up on a long term contract when he is not proven at this level.
