He will probably pass the medical at another club. Harry Clark failed the medical at Stoke a few weeks back but passed it at Preston. I guess our medical is injunction with the insurance company and we just can't do another one to get him through.TeeC said:
Yep but there is a price. He’s not going to retire.Bedsaddick said:
But if he's failed a medical there will be massive insurance issues and the club won't take the risk.TeeC said:Like Burke, JRS has a price and Palace still want to sell. I guess that price now isn’t £5m though.5 -
Ogbene and Sakamoto are my guessesstjohnshill said:
Yes there are a couple we want. Both at Premier League clubs and both played in the Championship last season. One more likely than another at this stage. Cannot give any names at this stageDDOUBLEE said:
I'd feel even more comfortable if we were working to sign an alternative though!fenaddick said:A failed medical makes me feel more comfortable about us pulling out3 -

edit: league one last year So not him0 -
Feel sorry for whoever we do sign instead of. JRS, he’s been put on such a pedestal nobody else will be that exciting😬 think we will all need to have open minds on the next signings.4

Burke was undisclosed fee!Crispywood said:Burke was a free transfer, JRS could have been our most expensive signing of all time pretty self explanatory0 -
Sakamoto would be an outrageous signing. A better player than JRS. I know he didn’t start on the weekend but I can’t see Coventry letting him go.sam3110 said:

I'd still be buzzing with McCowatt if that's still an option.Sword65pf said:Feel sorry for whoever we do sign instead of. JRS, he’s been put on such a pedestal nobody else will be that exciting😬 think we will all need to have open minds on the next signings.5 -

Finally awake after a long day yesterday and journey back! Can’t wait to dig into the 500 new posts presumably all confirming JRS will be signing imminently!12

Too expensive, Brighton turned down £7.5m from Rangers last week, no way we're spending close to 8 figures on a playerCB1 said:

Roberts - Birmingham (loan from Sunderland last year)
Sakomoto - Coventry
Ogbene - Ipswich

I just don't think he'll get the minutes this season at Coventry, and we need a token East Asian like everyone else in the Championship seems to have! The Red Robin said:

I never understand the “Can’t say names” part … what’s the point in saying anything at all then?stjohnshill said:

He’s a quality player. He won’t start a lot for Coventry but you’d think they still want him in the squad.sam3110 said:

Fully appreciate it doesn't mean something won't show up in a medical but i'm not aware JRS has ever had any kind of serious injury.
You've got to laugh though, a club which gave contracts to Aneke, Burke and Koumetio is now potentially not signing a guy who's never had an injury.7 -
WIOTOS stands for > We’re Interested, Officially That’s Only Speculation.TheNotoriousBWP said:
I keep seeing “WIOTOS” thrown around, and I’ve still no idea what the hell it means. Please someone let me know for my own sanity. Cheers.Henry Irving said:I'm going to wait and see how things pan out.
Lots of wild speculation and blame that feels a bit knee jerk after a bad night.
As ever WIOTOS6 -

Won't be Roberts , Brum signed him on a perm in January so doesn't fit the stjohnshill category.0

Different monster championship window.3

Makes you wonder if his medical record was also undisclosed!!🙄WoolwichAddick said:

Are we sure about Ramsey being back in a couple of weeks, I saw him still on crutches outside the ground at the Derby match?RonnieMoore said:Think fans need to chill .. no one knows what’s happening or what might happen … there still positives
1- On Saturday apart from the keeper there will be only one change to the starting line up that played in two games
2- any deal can be rescued
3- NJ was told before the game so what happened during the game had nothing to do with the JRS deal
4- it’s happened before the window shuts so we can still do something if it had been next Wednesday ?5- Edwards , Ramsey and Kelman back in couple of weeks
6 - Billy injury is hamstring 4/6 weeks and most of that will be international break
Sure the club are just as pissed as the fans after a lot of work gone into the deal .. but let’s wait and see …. Personally think the deal will happen may turn into a loan ??0 -
Really hope Ogbene isn’t one we’re after but wouldn’t surprise me.A good player obviously, but spent last season on loan at Sheffield United only managing some minutes here and there with the majority of his time spent on the sidelines with injury. Surely we don’t go down that bloody route again we’ve everything that’s been happening with us.1
-
Yeah I feel sure this is spin rather than what’s actually happened. It’s too ridiculous and such an easy thing for the club to put out there to try to calm down a fan base who wanted JRS.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Fully appreciate it doesn't mean something won't show up in a medical but i'm not aware JRS has ever had any kind of serious injury.

Feel a bit let down and I’m usually positive. But whatever, it’s Charlton and this is what happens!2 -
Blimey, find myself agreeing with most of that. 1 is the most important to remember. We've lost options, and risk has upped as a result, but in terms of facing Preston it's less of a disaster - we played our reserves, and Billy K might have taken a knock in training and missed the game.RonnieMoore said:Think fans need to chill .. no one knows what’s happening or what might happen … there still positives

It would be a shame if JRS didn't come, but 2 weeks ago I'm not sure anyone thought it was a realistic option.
Personally I think Jones was speaking in frustration at both JRS and the injuries, having gone from a place where plans had come together to something more akin to late window chaos. Who goes, who stays, totally up in the air. Assiimwe's performance might have done Jones a favour though - wasn't disgraced against some very good footballers - although we could have done with him being born 3 days later and sneaking into the u21 numbers.
I'd say Knibbs and Apter may have played their last games for us, especially Knibbs who hasn't even got the excuse of youth for that 'display' last night. Time to be properly ruthless I think.0 -
Ogbene would be a such a disappointment. If we were willing to splash out for JRS surely plan b needs to match that ambition4
-
If JRS actually was pulled for medical reasons and then we sign someone who had injuries literally last season it would be both incredibly stupid and extremely Charlton.TheNotoriousBWP said:Really hope Ogbene isn’t one we’re after but wouldn’t surprise me.A good player obviously, but spent last season on loan at Sheffield United only managing some minutes here and there with the majority of his time spent on the sidelines with injury.
