Whoever is in charge will struggle with this squad - we will do well to stay up.

Yes he could of been backed more, but even his signings with money have been awful,Collins, apter, tanto, kaminski, alli, ahadme all duds and other maybe too. Ironically it’s the players he inherited for the most part that have been the success of his tenure.3 -
Challinor in at the Wendies so that's one less option if NJ were to go1

And still we are above the relegation zone. I am usually very quickly to turn on managers and players but I think it's suicidal to get rid of NJ. We are on a bad run but we are a team full of League One players. I really don't know what more people expect that a relegation battle.stjohnshill said:

How many games would you say is reasonable without a win until you would say we need to change?Arthur_Trudgill said:There are 33 games left, so a long way to go.Several teams with more, or a lot more, money than us are in a similar or worse place in the table.Replacing Jones with a miracle manager that will improve the players and tactics, improve recruitment, reduce injuries, AND not be tempted by more money at Wrexham or Burnley, is not realistic. In my view, while we are outside of the relegation zone, NJ should stay.0 -
That’s a good point. For the very few here that would be happy if the winless streak went on to 15 and he stayed (him staying not the winless streak) I think the biggest worry would be that they have clearly got no intention in trying to stay up.Bod said:
I agree on all counts. But if we lose and there is no movement on Jones (even a vote of confidence) we know for sure that the Americans don't give a toss.stjohnshill said:

I think Championship football is vital in getting the sale price and investment they need. Hence why I think he has two games max to save his job.1 -
If we don't win Tuesday, I think he has to go. One of the most winnable games we have left in the season, and one we should be expecting to win.
If you can't beat fellow strugglers at home, then it's very hard to see where the next win comes from.2 -

I wonder if Robbie Keane is being sounded out? links to the new CEO from the Maccabi days, plenty of success abroad in his young career.
Knows the English game… personally would be open to trying someone on the up, but would have to be backed properly in Jan.0 -

Trying to search for positives:
We are level on points with Wrexham.
Get 4 points in the next 2 games and we will be back on course.
Better to have this terrible run now, than at the end of the season.
Jones is already trying to be more flexible in terms of selections and formations.
If he comes out of the of the other side of this, he will be a better manager for it.
Huge game on Tuesday. I hope everyone pulls together, this could prove to be a major point in our history.

Would look forward to him doing the cartwheel celebration as we grab a last minute equaliser to draw 3-3 at Burton next season.0

I want Nathan to continue as our manager and I guess to do that he has to pick a couple of teams to win or draw the next 2 games.
Before these 'banishment' games he needs to make sure he knows (as best he can) who his guaranteed faithful are and who he thinks may be a traitor and should therefore be murdered.
Despite what happened yesterday I'd have Chalobar in the middle along with Skipp who I think is more faithful than Cov and Knibbs who is more faithful than Sonny.
Up front I'd have Charlie Kelman and TC.
At the back I'd have Lloydy with Bindon and Bell either side of him, flanked by Danny Mac and Ivan and Arthur in goal.
My 9 other faithful would be Mannion, Billy, Kayne, Mwamba, J R-C, Sonny, Miles, Godden (Micah if Godden not available) and Nkeng.
I'd murder Cov, Grant and Alli from the match day squad.2 -

Theyre all good points, but none of them mean we will ergo find someone better, it is entirely possible to get someone worse, especially with the lack of financial backing that seems to be happening now, yes NJ cocked up building a team of defenders and hugely overestimated our strikers abilities to consistently nick a goal for a season of 1-0's. The problem will be whoever your assumed improvement of a manager will be will also only have that team full of defenders to work with, NJ messed up the transfers that's what is coming home to roost now, problem is doesn't follow that someone else can fix it.Sambcafc said:I find it quite amazing how many fans are suggesting that we can’t find a better manager than Jones as a reason to stick with him. I’m hugely appreciative of what he’s done for this club. Trying to change to a more attacking and possession based style without bringing in technical midfielders. The likes of which we see play in EVERY other decent championship team. That blame can only be laid at Jones door. Unfortunately we just won’t progress until the % success rate of our signings improves.Has anyone he signed this summer been a success? Our defence is considerably worse - so on the face of it the defenders haven’t improved us (despite the fact I like Koumetio and Mesik and Dmac). In midfield, I don’t see any difference. In fact we are worse because Coady was better than Skipp. Ouma hilariously bad. Nate Chalobah - injured as we all knew he would be, Burke 2.0.In attack, this part is laughable. Grant and Alli are so far off it. If these were identified as improvements to our attacking options I need a trial. Nkeng hasn’t played a minute despite the dire form of the above two and will be back on loan in L1 in Jan. Signing Godden back up was a mistake and has proven so. I thought NJ was ruthless?I think we have lost leadership from this squad (Coady, Doc) and it’s not been replaced. At this stage if I were the owners I’d make the change now to give the new manager an easier run of games to start and an international break (won’t happen I know).0 -

Confident?Whenever we’ve had bad results we’ve always bounced back and had a good little run. So far that hasn’t happened this time.He also doesn’t know his best 11 or formation. We need to stick with 3-5-2, grind out results to stay up once again.2 -
Pretty much agree with this and though stats can lie, they don't in this case. Jones was the manager we needed when he came in, but not the manager we need now. Not all his fault, because blame definitely also needs to be placed further up the chain of command, but he hasn't helped himself. But what is clear that change is needed - he seems almost broken and the players don't have any confidence, in themselves and probably not in him either. So if the owners are going to pull the trigger and get someone else in, I just hope it's done in plenty of time before the transfer window so that the new guy can assess the team, work out where he can improve things, identify the guys he needs to do it and hopefully be able to get them in. Making the change in January will almost certainly be too late. My fear though is that the owners don't want to stump up to pay Jones off, and so will waste the next however long haggling terms. Presumably it's a fair old whack, 18 months or so into a five-year contract, and if we're as skint as it appears I doubt it will be a straightforward conversation. Can't see Jones walking for that reason either.Sambcafc said:I find it quite amazing how many fans are suggesting that we can’t find a better manager than Jones as a reason to stick with him. He won’t be paid off the whole of his contract. We’ll either have agreed he gets paid an amount equivalent to a period of time or he will continue to get paid for X months or he gets a new jobkielyskickingboots said:

COYRAmen to Tuesday giving us a desperately needed boost1 -
Just feeling extremely depressed by the whole situation.
Don't believe for what we have there is a better option than Jones. Need someone who can operate on a tiny budget and overperform. That's Jones. But with any appointment there comes a time when it's all too toxic with the fans and/or players and then you have to go, even if the replacement will be worse. Unfortunately it sounds like we're nearing that, barring a couple of results in the next two.
He's not perfect by any stretch but I lay very little blame for the overall situation at his door. Strong rumours over summer that the board wanted out, slashed the budget etc. That's certainly how it played out and what we spent for where we already were is a complete joke. We only avoid a very difficult relegation season in that scenario if the manager works an absolute miracle.
He grates on me at times, as do some of his decisions, and the football is a tough watch - though I'd say necessarily so given the squad. But I have a lot of sympathy for him and if he does go he'll go with my thanks and a lot of respect.
And we'll still be saddled with a bunch of tw*t owners that aren't willing to do the absolute minimum to give us a fair shot.1 -
Indeed. My concern is that whatever that figure might be, it's seen as 'too much' and so there's a stasis about taking the necessary action while the owners agree about what to do. Given the number of people in the ownership group and would presumably have to be consulted, I imagine there isn't agreement that Jones has to go. That could take time to work out, while team and results suffer.fenaddick said:
