Following from my last post, this is even more sensationalist nonsense to be highlighted.
I hope our players don’t have any such ideas.Saying we have to win a game against a team around us when we missed the chance the last two times, is not sensationalist.
Its realism.
If we don’t win 7-8 more games we will go down.So I would suggest tomorrow is a good time to get started. We can’t keep passing up opportunities9 -
Draw at best , having lost an imaginary house backing Coventry stick another one on Blackburn , it’ll be worth it if we get a point .
This is probably the second most dull football fixture in the world following closely behind Huddersfield v Charlton …4 -

We turned up last night and staff refused to let us check in. The guy on the desk was bragging about how we wouldn't get our money back either as they didn't care about consumer protection.
Fortunately, we had booked through Airbnb and were given a full refund.5 -

If the game is on then I predict a dull 0-0. Safe journey to all those travelling there. Could be some snow later in the afternoon / early evening.0

They seemed to be under the impression that we could not stay and they could keep the money (presumably they were hoping to either double book the room, or save money by not having to clean the room). I don't think the staff on the desk realised that we had booked through Airbnb and therefore they were not in complete control of the booking.southamptonaddick said:Why did they not let you check in?
I didn't even mention that my National Express driver decided to stop for an unscheduled cigarette break, during which he allowed everybody off the coach (resulting in several people being late back), which delayed the journey by an hour, making me miss my pre-booked train to Blackburn (the last one). I had no choice but to fork out for an expensive taxi from Manchester to Blackburn on top. Fingers crossed NE will be reimbursing this as the driver was clearly at fault.WSS said:

I doubt people would want to but, if Blackburn sell a ticket to somebody in the away end and said person causes trouble, they are then liable rather than Charlton as they sold the ticket. Some football fans are idiots and it wouldn't surprise me if some home fan bought a ticket in the away end at a game to start (and inevitably lose) a scrap.killerandflash said:
Why would Blackburn supporters want to buy tickets in the away end, when there are loads of spare seats around the ground?AS1987 said:
It's for two reasons. The Red Robin said:
Yeh it’s a weird decision- can’t buy them today either. 2026.Northern_Monkey said:No tickets sold on the day according to Blackburn. Too late to sort myself out with tickets.
1. To stop home fans from buying tickets in the away end.
2. They will have planned stewarding and police around the number of away tickets sold and want to discourage several Charlton fans from turning up on the day.
If the odd few Charlton fans show up on the day, Blackburn would probably sell them tickets in the away end.
And it's not as if this is a local derby or a grudge match. This is right near the top of the "two teams with no interest in each other" rankings.
This is a lot stricter in The Championship than League One, so expect to see away tickets not being sold on the day at every game.8 -

Currently showing a balmy 2 deg at kick off, but could get some snow by half time, so 🙏
Maybe NJ wouldn’t have a problem if it was called off…0 -

Charlton’s 10 away goals in the Championship this season have been netted by nine different players, with Harvey Knibbs the only player to score more than once (2).

Lovely thought DOUCHER, to achieve a play off place 16 wins from 22, replicate our early season form 61 points would be close. I would be happy with either.DOUCHER said:considering we've picked up about 5 points out of the last 25 or so available, i feel remarkably optimistic about this game and the rest of the season - we are a totally different proposition when the likes of Bell and Burke are playing and seeing Kelman getting better each week, knowing Godden is on his way back, Ramsey also and some positive news about signings, i'm wondering if its too late for a play off charge

I also asked to speak to the manager, thinking that this might have resolved things, but was told to wait until 18:00 the next day, which obviously wasn't going to work when we were checking in that night. They also told Airbnb that they would need to wait until the manager was in at 18:00 the next day for a decision to be made on whether I could stay, which of course saw an instant refund.2 -

I can't understand why people think otherwise. We have to win games, and this is one of the easier ones on paper.
And I bloody hope the players realise how important it is, and it has been made a big event in the changing rooms.
You'd rather win against these lot than Boro away, take the opportunity away from Blackburn to earn points and add to ours.
This, Oxford away, Swansea away and Norwich & Pompey at home, are by far and away the most important games in our season and the 'must wins'.
That's your 5 out of the 7 or so we need and guarantee our surival taking points from those around us.
A loss today is a bit of a disaster, but I am confident travelling now we can beat these.2 -
There’s a difference between a “must win” and “we need 7-8 more wins and this is a good opportunity to get one”.
Or am I crazy?16 -
You are crazy and this is also a good opportunity to get a win. 🙂Callumcafc said:There’s a difference between a “must win” and “we need 7-8 more wins and this is a good opportunity to get one”.

Exactly what I was about to type.
If we were 3 points adrift of safety with a game or two left it would be a must win game.
We might as well say all our home games are must win.6 -
Supposedly Norwich and Portsmouth were “must win” too but we didn’t, and nonetheless we’re still four points clear with a game in hand.
Win, lose or draw later - there’s still another 63 points up for grabs down the line. Building up every game as a “must win” as early as December and January does nothing but mess with your own blood pressure.
Perhaps the meaning of “must” has changed and I didn’t get the memo.
“Don’t get too high with the wins or too low with the losses.”12 -
I must get my 14th pair of trainers.0

Winning vs teams above you is less likely and if you do manage to win, you won't catch them (Ipswich as an example) it especially means less, if you then lose to the teams around you, like Pompey and Norwich.
Winning vs teams around you, stops them earning points, gives you breathing room, lowers their total points possible.
We have gained 1 point since Norwich, they've gained 3. If they win today, and we lose, they are 1 point behind. When they play us, if they can keep pace. Theyll over take. That is why these games are a must win.
If people don't think this is a must win, I'd love to know which games you think are.
Blackburn have 2 wins in their last 10, just as naff as us, need to take it to them.2 -
Guess people have forgot what 6 pointers are. This is the basics, not to go all Nathan Jones.
You have to take points off of the teams around you to survive.6 -
You do but a draw away from home is still taking 2 points away from them. They’ll have marked us down as one of their 7/8 winnable gamesBraziliance said:Guess people have forgot what 6 pointers are. This is the basics, not to go all Nathan Jones.

Sheffield United vs Oxford has been postponedOne team that wont gain on us today, but equally there goes our game in hand. Probably suits Oxford a little bit as well with no Manager at the moment, plus they'll now be able to get a few extra signings in ahead of the re-arranged match.0
-
For me this is a classic case of every point on the road being important. Every team thinks it and so stopping our relegation rival taking all three would be a massive result3
-
A draw is still a bad result, if the teams below us win.. we were 15 points clear at one stage, rather than actually go in the relegation zone, it would be nice to eliminate some of that pressure today.fenaddick said:

Fkn hell, anyway, almost there, hope I witness 3 points1 -
