Why as a club do we seem to have a fetish for players with dodgy injury records?

Seems like if he can stay fit he could be a decent signing, hope it works out!

I really wish the lad the best of luck, 🤞 he will stay away from the forum and kick on his career.

We may just give him the platform he needs do that!

Fully expecting us to throw a cat amongst the pigeons and play him LCB now, with TC still at LWB

Good signing if he stays fit. Bad signing if he doesn't.

Welcome Luke. Hope you make the position your own, and bring some balance to our back line.

Not sure that a 40-year old centre back is what we want, but ... hey ho.

Is that even that bad an idea? Whenever TC isn’t on we struggle to do anything going forward. The problem with TC at wing back is Gillesphey is too slow to cover him, whenever Bell has been there it’s been mostly fine as we can shift to a back 4 to cover it

We’d just end up with the flipped version of our system that’s been so successful over the past 18months. Instead of Small/Apter pushing to RW and Ramsay moving to RB, you’d have TC pushing forward to LW and Chambers moving to LB

Think people are just buzzing to see an actual left back in the building tbf, as am I the more I read Wigan fans seem to say he was a good player. Let's hope our due diligence has been done well here and he smashes it

This is a good signing and it’s sounds like there are more to come. I hope it allows Nathan to be a bolder and less cautious.

Still don’t get the obsession with wingbacks..Definitely helps if you have players who can play that position however

Seems a good egg on the twitter video. Personality will fit with the group as well.

There’s a comment on Chambers instagram post about the move from Andy Robertson as well as last nights goal scorer Bobby Clark and a tonne of well thought of Liverpool youth prospects including Callum Scanlon, Jayden Danns and Trey Nyoni. Seems well liked by his peers
  • Got to love football fans - does anyone know where we could find a high quality Premier League loan at left back at a reasonable price with lots of Championship experience and no history of injuries?
Bit disappointed we didn’t sign that Palace fella that went to Man city.
  • Welcome Luke, hope you play well, and have a good time here!

Really? Vast majority of what I’ve seen has been sarcastic and negative.

There's a few snide comments definitely but seems mostly positive. Maybe my sarcasm radar is off

Sounds like he’s more of a centre-half that can play as a left back. Out of contract in 2027 by the looks of it.

    Where?

He's a left back/left wing back, who could maybe cover elsewhere across the back.

I hope Luke doesn't read this thread.
He may be thoroughly demoralised if he does.
    I wish Luke every success.

My friend lives in Dubai and runs a padel league out there. Anyway, he's having lunch with a Liverpool supporter friend from Church Crookham over Fleet way later today, so he's gonna ask him how good Chambers is. Sooner get things from the horse's mouth than listen to chitter chatter online

Will let you know how he gets on

Calum Scanlon a 20 year old Liverpool fc LB/ LWB has somehow turned into Luke Chambers a 21 year old LB/LWB also from Liverpool FC.

The common denominator is both lads have had bad injuries.
Scanlon spent a year out after a bad hamstring injury while at Millwall's on loan and Chambers has spent 8 months out with a back problem which appears a recurring issue for the lad.

I wish Luke Chambers has a successful time at CAFC for his sake and Charlton's but there is a pattern with taking a chance on defenders with an injury CV. Hopefully Burke is over his bad run of injury setbacks. Lewis Page and Wiggins were hit by different injuries at CAFC. Wiggins injuries ruined his career after leaving us and he quit after his short loan at Birmingham at just age 30.

In fact one of the few LB's at Charlton that wasn't injury prone was Morgan Fox who took stick from some of the fans but spent 4 seasons playing a division above CAFC.
