Great win for the Cards. Fantastic to see Waino's amazing hook as early as the first innings and then the crooked number in the 3rd that took Burnett out of the game. Brill. Key game in the series is tonight (Cole v Lynn, both pitching lights-out in September, 6pm BST on ESPN, should be a cracker but Cole has the edge as the Cards face him for the first time) - the winner will take the series (IMO). The Braves?..............LOL ;o)
Cole pitched v well, only allowed 2 hits in 6 innings.
7-1 Pirates at top of 9th.
He was still throwing 100mph in the 6th. Fully deserved the win. Advantage clearly with the Pirates but this series could go all the way. Kelly (2 wins in Pittsburgh in the regular) v Liriano (3-0 vs the Cards) on Sunday and the impressive rookie Wacha taking the mound in game 4 for the Cards. COYRedbirds.
Truth is any one of the 4 NL teams could (and would deserve) to win the NLCS. They're so evenly matched that all 3 series could go the distance. In fact, playing 7 for the Championship Series and starting the WS on "normal" (if opposition has had extended) rest has been a clear advantage in recent years. Might be the best chance for upsetting the apple cart at Fenway.
The key game for us (sox ) is tonight. Thr Rays will have targeted Price up against Lackey for a win. But Lackey has pitched far better than his wins/loss figures suggest, just hasn't had the run support. If we win tonight, then surely Clay or Peavy will take 1 from 2 at Trop (which as usual will be full for the only time this year).

Indeed. Should be a cracker tonight - a must win for the Rays you'd have to think. That was a bizarre mis-play by Myers last night - the kind of thing that happens post-season.
Do or die for both Braves and Cards tonight. Some hope for the Cards with perhaps the better of the pitching match-up vs the Pirates and some offensive positives to be taken from last nights 3-5 defeat - in which Beltran surpassed The Babe's record for post-season home runs. COYRedbirds, let's get it back to Busch & Waino.
Peanuts may I say hand on heart Piss Off ;-) I cannot believe the Braves go on a great run early in the season and finish piss poor, the writing was on the wall with the way they finished the regular season.
LOL, ...... death, taxes and the Braves running out of gas. Whether Pirates or Cards, they'll effectively start 2 games behind with Kershaw in opposition.
So you wont be afraid to hear me say..............I have a bad feeling about this!
No worries, Peavy will see to them.
The Rays send Hellickson to the mound tonight with 5.17 ERA ??!! I'm hoping Madden knows what he is doing, however he is usually right more times than he is not. Rays currently 4-0 in elimination games..long may it continue
Very proud of this young Braves team we have here in the ATL....and the fact that they were beaten by a team who cost $140 million more to assemble....I'd say things are being done the right way at Turner Field.
Great to see the Dodgers make the NLCS, probably against the Cards although personally I would like to see Pittsburgh make it. Have to like A's v Red Sox as the likely ALCS but a while to go yet.
Boom! The Sox are ALCS bound and I am going to work on no sleep. Now I can sit back and enjoy a Tigers v A's decider. Uehara came up with the goods with a tense save to bounce back. Some of my best Sox memories are ALCS games (inc 2004 of course) so am up for this.
The Red Sox have had an amazing season so far. Back before the start of the season all the "experts" were saying they would struggle & finish last in the AL East. Everybody was bigging-up the Toronto Blue Jays to storm the league, after spending a shed load of money on a brand new team. Ha ha - the Red Sox success to date has taken everybody by surprise, as has the absolute failure of the Blue Jays. I'm not sure the Red Sox have got quite enough to win the World Series this year, but they should be proud to have got to the final 4. They have had a brilliant season after a shocking 2012. Go Red Sox!!!!!
