Well said exiled Like anyone cares about League One , I mean we win 4-0 and let's face it it means a great deal to us but I don't know any brentford, carlisle , wednesday fans etc to talk about our crappy league with or to say ner ner ner ner ner look who's top too but unfortunately we had the least impressive result out of the 3 south london teams today and I do know palace and scum fans to have footy banter with and these years are hurting We're League One, it's junk and no one cares ..... When we were in Chump and Prem how much interest and watching of the third tier did we all do , me ,I watched the goals when millwall lost or maybe an ex charlton player scored but a fleeting glance would be an exaggeration of my interest And that is what the third tier is to most people
End of the day it doesn't matter but it does get up your nose when tosser claridge tries to big up SW calling them massive & how playing in front of 23/24000 crowds lifts players..............yesterday they had 17634.........900 more than "lil ol' chorlton"
They were presenting from the valley a couple of weeks back. They can't talk specifically about all 72 teams every week. I don't really know what pearls of wisdom people think we're missing out on. If they do talk about us the best you're going to get is a couple of cursory sentances which are unlikely to be enlightening. A few years ago you wouldn't have got anywhere near the level of footage available today. Stop bloody whining.
agree with this whern I lived in Hull & Birmingham, you were lucky to know who had played in a match, let alone being able to see the scores.
what i would like to see is for the beeb to put extended highlights for each match on line, although this maybe restricted by Football League Player contracts.
BTW Aren't the beeb giving up Footbasll league coverage as part of the cuts?
Did seem to me that the commentator couldn't get his words out fast enough so that they didn't have to spend too long on our game. Slow mo replays might have been nice. Generally I just go on iPLayer on a Sunday morning, drag the timer along to around halfway and then try and get as quickly as possible to our game. Don't watch any of the rest of the programme and the punditry is just soooo basic.
it's a frustrating show, but hard to see what they can do in terms of upping the coverage. This weeks show was 78 minutes, for 72 teams. I just realised that they seem to have dropped the viewers emails, which at least is a good thing. Is the Monday London show really returning? That would help, of course.
Like all other right thinking people I really detest Steve Claridge, and you wonder whether they should just cut out the 'expert' commentary. Does it really tell us anything? For example I'd rather they had some guest spots with articulate fans from a certain club each week giving their views on how the season is panning out, and who's impressed them.
Even if Claridge could spare the time to mention us, I could never trust a word he said. Anyone who's played for Millwall, managed Millwall, played for Gillingam and been on Palace's books (albeit for 2 days) is surely a wrong un.
To be fair to him though, with 72 clubs the football league, it is ridiculous to expect anyone to really know anything in depth about all of them. From that point of view, I think Prague's suggestion of articulate fans would be a good one. Either that or employ more pundits, with the expectation that they will specialise in certain teams so that each gets reasonable coverage.
i am guessing that the link is the goal for leicester against palace. for that reason claridge has earned a place on PBS's non CAFC roll of honour board, along with stern john eric cantona and paul rodgers.
The whole pundit/expert comment thing is way past it's sell by date in all formats of football coverage. (I don't have sky, so maybe they have something fresh there). The same old faces say the same old stuff, cliche ridden and predictable. When Chris Waddle ranted after England went out in S Africa it was something interesting but on the whole punditry uses up time that could be better spent looking at action.
If somebody could talk with real insight, or better still if the fans were reacting with a partisan passion, or the post mortems were moaning and crowing by turn, or a first time football watcher mentioned something he/she noticed then it might be memorable.
As for the Football league show, it is whats to be expected, it could be improved a lot by cutting out any coverage of Palace and Millwall except when they lose.
With an extra hour available to night, I would say 30 sec, the rest of the time being spent on Huddersfield's unbeaten run of 42 games who should be miles clear of everyone.

The problem is that a lot of the "experts" have their feet under the table and have realised as recognisable ex-players they can afford to add absolutely nothing and still be offered work before of their links to the teams playing on the pitch and/or lengthy association with a brand or show.
It's no co-incidence the more refreshing and interesting summarisers and pundits are the ones who have very recently retired and are really serious about carving a second career in media. Hopefully they keep that fire in their belly and don't develop the Alan Hansen Complex(tm)
I have found Gary Neville to be an excellent pundit, really knows what he his talking about and makes very valid points...unlike shearer, hansen and lawro, who are awful (lee Dixon is the only BBC pundit worth listening too)
