[cite]Posted By: Covered End[/cite]I'm on your 4 selections Peanuts, so thanks for sharing your thoughts & good luck. As always, it's a great build up you have provided.
Most kind. Best of luck.....you're not persuaded by Plaaayer's cosmic portents for Golden Kite?
Actually my dog provided his own version of a cosmic portent for The Tother One on my GN supplement this morning so I had to stick a tenner on him

Fantastic, that's one of mine.
Obviously didn’t make the model’s selections but he wasn’t a million miles away and you can make a case for him on form (even though nobody seems to want to).
Negatives: Quirky, doesn't always travel well / can be a sketchy jumper / not fancied by owner who tried to sell him for this GN (presumably asked too much) or trainer who’s stuck an amateur on him.
Positives: Has some respectable recent form: 4L 2nd to Nacarat (winner of the big race yesterday) at level weights in decent-paced Charlie Hall on Good last October. 16L 4th in the Hennessy next. 12.5L 5th to Chief Dan George at the Festival last year, giving him 16lbs (14lbs better off with CDG today).
Not in a million years would I recommend because he could hate the fences or just not be in the mood and, of course, the stats aren't good enough BUT he will like the ground, is a horse with ability and if he does take to the fences, who knows? Maybe my dog ;o) ....and you Paddy
I was jumping up and down at one point, had Niche Market in a sweepy at my cricket club, tenner put in, 200 1st, 40 2nd 20 3rd 10 4th 5 5th £125 towards a new roller. Unfortunate to see two fences missed, I'm guessing both of them passed away? Was one of them becauseicouldn'tsee? Never like to see a death on the course, and the finishers looked in dire straights too
Well done Mike and any others that backed Ballabriggs. Very glad I didn’t put you off with my negative musings and hope I didn’t put off others - believe me it cost me!
I think Racing UK said time was 9 mins 1sec - the fastest time since 1996, though 2 fences omitted.
Fair play to Ballabriggs and Jason Maguire (who rescued him after a terrible blunder at Valentines 2nd time). Proved me totally wrong – I thought Sam was going to reel him in at the Elbow but he stayed every yard.
Delighted that 2 of my main 4 made the frame so model got a flat tyre this year rather than careering off the road into a ditch - I guess (hope) most Lifers who followed my tips are ahead but sorry that we didn’t hit the big one this year.
Shame that Golden Kite didn’t live up to the dreams (and Plaaayer’s portents) – looked up for it but landed on all 4’s at the first and never took a fence comfortably after that.
Will post some further thoughts once the race details are in and, of course, I’ll start tweaking!

If you think this cursed forum is depressing enough at the best of times, you wait till 20 mins time when we've all crashed and burned !

Don't know where state of play came from...

Backstage didnt do much though

Cheers Peanuts, owe you a pint or three.
