mate I am having fucking nightmares over it, this was what the mrs wanted to do and why we chose that breed, I have done all the obedience stuff with Lola and for the normal run of the mill dog stuff its easy, but she was doing the ring craft, now because of the baby she doesn't want to do it, says she looks to fat, I told her wtf do you think I look like, you have an excuse ffs, but she has had her heart set on it and I quite liked the idea when it didn't really involve me, but how can I say no
you never know she may film it and sneak it on here
If you qualify for Crufts, it will give you an excuse to miss the Watford game, as the Utility group is on Saturday 8th March, I have missed two shows since the season began due to clashes with dog shows and will probally miss the Reading game in April.
I wish I could be that convincing in the ring, Last night at Ring Craft Lola decided that she was not going to join in ,I had crocodile death rolls and her impression of a broom sweeping the floor, before her getting up and walking amazingly and standing perfect for nearly 5 mins,
the little sod
PS Lola looks better than them ones and has her tail
The americans go way over the top, most of the handlers are professionals who make a good living out of showing dogs all over the states, they are handed the dogs at the begining of the show season and the owners probally don't see them again until the end of the season. In this country most people handle their own dogs.
Best of luck NLA!! What I adore about pets is that they can be unpredictable and do what they want to do and all you can hope is that, on "this" occasion they do what you pray they will do.
great experience today but I let Lola down my nerves got the better of me and I turned so that my body was in between Lola and the judge, meaning he couldn't see her well enough, he was very very complimentary of her and was very good in explaining his decision to me after and stated that with more practice Lola will be a real force in her category,
we also got stitched up a bit as Lola was due to be in the minor puppy bitch which is age 6 to 9 months , but they dropped that group and she was in the puppy bitch section which is from 6mths to 12 mths, so she was up against dogs that have had a lot of experience,
we got a lowly 5th place today which was disappointing, but very very good for experience not just for me but Lola,
she behaved impeccably and tried so hard to impress me and everyone, we got some great feed back from strangers in the show ring and I am really buzzing at how it went ,
we are in Barnsley on the 9th of November for her next show so we have 2 weeks to improve and we will
Hey, top 6 is feckin good in your first show, Im struggling to see how you got the wrong side of Lola, do you not go anti clock wise with your dog on your left? Good Luck in Barnsley, make sure the good lady takes plenty of photos. Dont forget, white jacket and a pair of slacks. Not forgetting a comfy pair of shoes
@north london addick.....5th is very respectable for your first show especially when up against experienced dogs and handlers. Our first show with Jed our GSD he came 5th out of 6, me and Mrs RM were really nervous about it and we screwed it up for him as well. Since then (he is 8 now) he has qualified for Crufts for life, won at Championship shows and we have 3 others who have had and are still having success at shows across the UK. Keep at it mate, it'll come.
I wasn't paying attention to the Judge, I was walking in a diagonal with Lola on the left, I turnt Clockwise at the top meaning I was in between the judge and the dog, schoolboy feck up mate
Red that's great info mate as I was really annoyed with myself but thinking on it , so what its a learning curve for all of us, the main thing is that I really enjoyed it as did Lola she was exhausted in the car on the way home and she hadn't really had the exercise that she is used too on a daily basis, so I can only put it down to a nervous energy that whacked her
You should be ok in the right age class, good luck at Barnsley ( I bet you would think twice about going there for a football match). Club shows are often more relaxed and the judge is normally a breed specialist as against the all rounder you had yesterday. Just enjoy yoursleves.
been ooop tet Barnsley for the footie mate first time for a bit of social though, the judge did make some strange calls imo yesterday not mine though was bang on with that, but what do I know I may be well wrong, I like boy dogs to look like boys but he gave a 2nd place best in breed to a very feminine looking dog in comparison to the muscular stud looking boys that were there
was asked by 2 breeders if I am allowed to breed from Lola which I pointed in the direction of my breeder whom came back and said the cheeky feckas want your pups, but she told them if they want any from Lola she will contact them once she has bred from her in 18mths time and Lola will be 2
cheers smiffy and dansk it is something that is surprisingly addictive
Could never show mine as lovely as she is if she don't wanna do something she won't do it, sometimes she doesn't even wanna go for a walk I pick her up carry her outside and she runs straight back to the door and sits there.

I remember Bailey's first show, just a baby at 3 or 4 months old, 2nd he got and was awarded a rosette. I was everything to us a manky 2 quid rosette, then all we wanted was a red one (1st). But the bug got us although we didn't enjoy all of it there are some nasty bastards showing dogs, nothing to your face they arn't that brave. Good luck T'up Barnsley way, is this qualifier as well? We've just unpacked some of Baileys Reds along with some BIS and some reserves in shows
its a strange atmosphere mate with some odd people
Yeah its a qualifier ,
we have northern schnauzer, Buba, Manchester champ show left as qualifiers, Nov, Dec, Jan and we have 2 open shows to get some practice in
thing is I have started to notice that her rear end near her bits is looking a bit swollen, and she has started to have a few behavioural changes
today she has shown a little bit of aggression towards me , not a big deal but she disagreed with me telling her to lie down and thought about snapping I could tell
she also was very difficult to keep focus on her walk very interested in what dogs were about
got a feeling that she is about to come in to season and that may mean she may have to miss the nthnern schnauzer one
