I used to travel up to work with Colin for over twenty years and invariably he would have me in fits. What a lovely way to start the day.His love for Charlton was nearly matched by his love for Kent CCC.If you said a bad word about Colin Cowdrey it was at your peril. He could be a feisty character and I remember going to the Valley Club with him in the seventies once;however,we could not get in as he got himself barred for a minor altercation.Rest in peace Mr C,you were a legend and always will be.I will raise a glass for you.
So sad. Have always loved reading Colin's work in the match day programmes over many, many years. My sympathies for his family and may he rest in peace watching over Charlton & Kent.
Didn't know Colin personally, but used to see him at almost every game. He would be talking enthusiastically with friends about anything and everything Charlton. Always used to feel that bit better just for seeing him there sharing his love and unsurpassed knowledge of the club and the prospects for the game ahead. Absolute club legend and a very sad loss indeed. Probably won't happen, but a minute's applause would be fitting. RIP Colin.
